Philadelphia International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival 2007

It’s on!! The Philadelphia International GLBT Film Festival kicked off yesterday. There are about 166 films entered this year. Every year, Filipinos (gay pinoys that is) from the area look for the Philippine entry. This year, the entry is Pantasya, directed by Brilliante Mendoza. Fortunately, when I went home a couple of months ago, I was already able to obtain the DVD and have seen the movie.
I would highly recommend it. It is a collection of short films about M2M fantasy. I thought it was done quite well. If you haven’t seen the film, I urge you to watch it. My favorite? Phone Line (Linya). You have to see it to appreciate it.
Here’s a review:
One of the most exotic films in our program this year, Pantasya presents five erotic interludes that feature men in uniform.
Brillante Mendoza (The Masseur) is back at the festival with a radically different film: a collection of five soft-core erotic episodes featuring fantasies involving men in uniform. Beautifully executed with sweet imagination, this display of male Asian flesh is truly a lush Filipino delight. In the first fantasy, a jealous gay teenager hails a taxi, and the two men find comfort in each other’s arms. Next, when a lonely homeowner calls the phone company to have his phone fixed, the two linemen fix a lot more than the phone. In the third episode, a shy, gay basketball fan makes his way into the locker-room after a sweaty game and finds a different sort of match-up underway in the shower room. Next up, a pizza boy isn’t having a good night until he delivers a pie to a bored gay yuppie working late. And in the final fantasy, after a pair of lovers quarrel and split for the night, one meets up with a horny security guard who offers his shoulder for the man to cry on. Told tastefully and erotically, these fantasies make for a very unusual program that we think you’ll love.
