Do you like goth?
According to Wikipedia.orp, “The goth subculture is a contemporary subculture found in many countries. It began in the United Kingdom during the early 1980s in the gothic rock scene, an offshoot of the post-punk genre. The goth subculture has survived much longer than others of the same era, and has continued to diversify. Its imagery and cultural proclivities indicate influences from nineteenth century Gothic literature.
The goth subculture has associated tastes in music and fashion, whether or not all individuals who share those tastes are in fact members of the goth subculture. Gothic music encompasses a number of different styles. Common to all is a tendency towards a lugubrious, mystical sound and outlook. Styles of dress within the subculture range from death rock, punk, androgynous, medieval, some Renaissance and Victorian style clothes, or combinations of the above, most often with black attire, makeup and hair.”
Now, it has morphed into its own terms of the subculture. There has been a faithful following and indeed, the subculture has remained prominent even in the ’90s up till today. Emergence of goth products, goth clothing have remained and even gothic dating. Goth used to get associated with ‘heavy metal’ music and dark thinking, but this is actually untrue. Individuals usually listen to their own music. They are actually artistic individuals with lots of diverse interests as well.
Gothic dating has become very popular and its a way for goths to meet people with the same interests as they have. It is no longer to be viewed as people who believe in horror, the supernatural, and darkness. They are individuals who have chosen a certain genre that fits their moods and their lifestyle. I personally think it’s cool to meet people of gothic subculture. We learn a lot of unique cross-sections of the culture and guess what? They are nice people too!
