Getting a Mortgage? Have you gone direct?

Looking to refinance? Looking for a mortage? The market has dwindled down a little bit although the interest rate hasn’t gone up too much, it is still higher than it was three years ago. There is much need for refinancing to those people that chose to go with an interest-only loan, or an adjustable rate mortgage (ARM).

An to those people that want to obtain a mortgage before the interest rates skyrockets, how are you going to go about it? Are you going to the mortgage brokers out there that would sell you the mortgage and then turn around two days later and sell your mortgage to someone else? These are the things you have to consider. There are lots of fees that you can avoid by going direct rather than a broker. There are less paperwork, hassle-free transactions and do need to worry about padded costs. Decisions, decisions right?

Have you looked into direct financing? Direct financing or lending is what DragonFi Home Finance Direct Lender does. They are a direct lender that would be able to assist you with your mortgage without the third party brokers adding their own profit to the loan that you are trying to obtain. If you go direct, there are lots of savings you can have just by speaking to the lender and not the broker.

Simply put, if you buy a pair of shoes from a broker, it may cost you 78.00 USD although the manufacturer’s cost is only 35.00. Going direct is much like going to the wholesaler to but the shoes. It may only cost you 50.00USD going direct versus paying a broker that would tack on t heir own profit to the mix.

So why would you go to someone like DragonFi Home Finance Direct Lender? Because it can save you lots of money in the long run. No more middlemen, no hassles and less paperwork.

What are you waiting for? Give them a call!

My R&R in New York

I went to New York last weekend for some R&R (no, not Road Rage silly! – Rest and Relaxation). I was away in Asia during my birthday and my sister gave me a gift – a day of spa treatment. We had our manicure and pedicure, a deep tissue massage and yes, a facial.

It was sooo relaxing I fell asleep at the massage table. I wonder if they thought a boar got into the spa because I was snoring so loud! I didn’t care, it was my day to relax right? I relaxed.

The chinese lady who gave me the facial was so good, I felt like a kitchen cabinet!!! My face had a re-face!!! ;) She went all the way with the creams, oils, and masque. I felt so refreshed when I got out of there I told my sister, ‘This is going to be my yearly gift until the day I die!!!’ Read more

Cousins? The more the merrier…

We have a family friend. One is the fraternity brother of my older brother from college. When he first came to the U.S., he didn’t know anyone. My brother advised him to call my sister in New York for assistance once he arrived.

He arrived and when he and my sister met, she was impressed by him. A veterinarian by profession, he was petitioned to work for a vet hospital in Queens, NY.  My sister offered her basement as a temporary refuge until he can stand on his own – specially in New York where rental properties are exorbitant.

A few months later, he told my sister that his cousin is arriving from the Philippines and asked my sister if he could stay there with him as well.  My sister, the good Samaritan that she is, obliged. Read more

Coupons – Is it worth it?

The weekend was nice. The weather was perfect. 70 degrees, sunny with a cool breeze on top of that. It was the perfect barbecue weather. The problem is? I don’t have a grill.

I gave the coal grill that I had to my neighbor who loves it so much he grills almost every night. I am so reluctant to borrow it. He had offered me plenty of times and asked me that if I want anything grilled, to just ask him and he will gladly do it for me. I didn’t feel right doing that.

While I was at Home Depot one time, I saw this table top grill. It is stainless steel, gas-powered grill. Of course, you know me, if I want to buy anything – I always use coupon codes. All I do is go online and look for any available coupons to the store where I will make my purchase and then I go for the kill! :D

I just believe that there isn’t a need to waste the hard-earned money that you have if there are ways to spend less. Coupon codes are a way to go. One website called, http://couponchief.com boasts of over 1000 merchants nationwide that includes Gap, Dell, Best Buy, Kohl’s, Overstock.com (one of my favorites), and even Target and Amazon.

I buy from all these places so why not save money in the process right? Remember, before you make a purchase – any purchase – look for coupon codes. I bought my grill today and grilled some pork chops!! Just add vinegar, garlic and salt for dipping and I was all set! YAAAAAAAAAWWWNNN~~ ! I’m so full, I’m still yawning.. maybe it’s time to take a nap.

My maid has moved in…

Richer? No, I think not. I’m sure you’ve all heard about my cleaning lady. She comes here bi-weekly to clean my house. I love her because she is very thorough. She cleans everything from top to bottom. I really couldn’t complain.

One problem is, she doesn’t have a car and she doesn’t drive. Somehow, she manages to come to my house to clean whenever scheduled. I feel really bad because she is a hard worker. She has a full-time job, and two part-time jobs (one of that is cleaning my house).

She wanted to open up her own cleaning business but she only has me as a reference. She hasn’t even worked for me for a year yet. And since she’s very thorough, it takes her a while to finish. If she wants to make this a full-time business.. she has got to move it! Again, I am not complaining because the longer she cleans the cleaner I know my house will be.

Last weekend, I moved her in. I like her a lot because she is ‘pinay’ too and very good with ‘pakikisama’. I enjoy having her here because we can talk gossips all day long. I am glad that she moved in. I don’t mind – - maybe my house cleaning will be free this time. ;)

I’m not sure if I should continue my subscription to DirecTV

I was never a cable guy. I like watching regular TV. Never the fancy 5 million channels with radio and blah blah blah channels in digital HD craziness! I just enjoy watching normal TV programs. That is until I head about TFC (The Filipino Channel) being offered through Direct TV! I was ecstatic. I only remember watching ‘pinoy’ programs while I was living in California. Every Saturday, I would watch the Sharon Cuneta Show. And it was included in my subscription then!

Comcast doesn’t offer TFC in my area. I heard that it was being offered somewhere in North Jersey but not here. I really wanted to watch the teleseryes like ‘Gulong ng Palad’ back then and every other variety show that there is! I also miss my homeland, the Philippines. I have been away for 23 years – I needed to reminisce. Read more

So, you wanted an IPhone huh? Newsflash! AT&T says iPhone activation improving

iphone_b.png

SAN FRANCISCO – While blogs continue to simmer with complaints from people who waited months to buy an iPhone and now are experiencing problems activating it, AT&T Inc. said Sunday that the situation has improved.

“We are working on any issues on an individual basis with customers who were impacted,” said Michael Coe, a spokesman for AT&T, the Apple Inc. device’s exclusive carrier. Nearly all customers have been able to activate their phones within five to eight minutes, he said.

Without activation, not even the phone’s alarm clock works, leading some unhappy customers to joke that their inactive iPhones are little more than expensive paperweights.

AT&T attributed the problems to overloaded servers as large number of customers tried to activate their phones over the weekend. After being hit with the initial onslaught, AT&T made technical adjustments to its activation system so that new users wouldn’t face the same delays, Coe said. Read more

John Lapus falsely suspected Boy Abunda of having an affair with his ex

boyabunda.JPG

Almost but not quite.

Birthday boy John “Sweet” Lapus—who will turn 34 on July 7—implied the above-mentioned adage in connection to the rumor that he had a bitter fallout with talent manager and TV host Boy Abunda because of a guy named Jasper.

This time taking the Showbiz Central hot seat, Sweet was grilled by SC jurors Rufa Mae Quinto and DJ Mo Twister about the said issue that is circulating around the grapevine for quite some time already.

The comedian-host gamely narrated what really happened.

“Two years ago, itong boyfriend ko na ‘to, ang pangalan niya ay Jasper. Na-meet ko siya sa Klownz. Naging mag-boyfriend kami for nine months, in fairness,” Sweet frankly admitted in front of the camera and to some of his immediate family members who came to the Broadway Centrum to celebrate his birthday. In love with the Arts – - but King TUT is in town, is that art?

I told my friends that there are a few things that I vow to do this summer. One of them is to visit the Statue of Liberty in New York, the next is to enter the Independence Hall in Philadelphia, and the third is to see King Tut at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Have I done anything yet? No. But, since I vowed to it – I am going to use every resource and energy I have to do all three. Why? Because there are lots of things we take for granted. Things that are right under our nose, but we just let tomorrow take them. We say, “Oh it will always be there, I will go there someday.” Days have come and gone and we look back to only see that we haven’t done anything at all.

Before I do this though, I wanted to make sure that I understand this right. King TUT is really not artwork. I love the arts, don’t get me wrong but why would they take King TUT to a museum to be viewed by many? What is considered art in a mummy? Hmmm.. I am very interested to see what the exhibit brings.

Okay, I have been to the Philadelphia Museum of Art many times throughout the years. They have the best collection of Asian Art there and I always enjoy seeing the Japanese Teahouse (yes, a whole house inside the museum). I took an Art class two semesters back and it was a requirement that we visit the museum and critique an artwork of our choice. I think, I chose Sebastian cured by Irene by Luciano Giordano. I had to talk about symmetrical balance, significance of the painting and style.

Another museum I would like to visit in my lifetime is The Park West Gallery in Michigan. I hear that it conducts art auctions and I have a few collections myself. It is also located on a beautiful 3 1/2 acre land complete with a natural pond and a sculpture garden. It has fine oriental artworks and the building has 63,000 square foot space on a building of classical Greco-Roman design.

You see, I am really very simple. I just like admiring beautiful things. I will visit Park West Gallery in Michigan one day – but not this summer. I think my three goals this summer is quite plenty. I will be back to blog about it when it’s done.
