Dolphins – intelligent beings.

I had a co-worker from Maryland before that told me about a study that was done to compare the dolphins’ intelligence versus the human intelligence. For example, if the human IQ is scaled to max 100, dolphins and whales would score 2000. I thought that it was very interesting although he went on and on about the neocortex and the limbic, and the rhinic, limbic and supralimbic part of the brain and how it all relates to blah blah blah. I really didn’t care to know about all those. I just know that I like dolphins and I think they are intelligent beings.

There is a movie that is to come out this summer entitled, ‘Eye of the Dolphin’. I took a look at the trailer on Youtube and was surprised to find it very appealing. It would probably be best for my niece who is becoming a teen soon but I would take her and her two brothers and sister to see it too. It would be good for them to relate to a movie that would provide importance to animals and how love, spirituality and other emotions transcends and crosses borders between the human and the animal kingdom.

Heck, why not make it a family event. It sure is a great trailer.

Watch the Eye of the Dolphin movie trailer below and let me know what you think!

Here’s a wonderful review by Teen Magazine. It would be a nice film to take your girls to. But not only that, it’s suitable for the family. So why not take your family and make it an event!

Eye Of The Dolphin
Family Movie – 2007

Smartly written by 3 time Emmy winner Wendell Morris from a story by the film’s director Michael Sellers, “Eye of the Dolphin” is a richly realized tale of love, spirituality, and redemption that crosses generations, cultures, and even species. The film delivers an intelligent, cross-cultural spiritual punch reminiscent of “Whalerider”, but with added humor and edginess.

Filmed in the Bahamas, the film features some very smart dolphins, spectacular locations above water and below – and a first-rate ensemble cast anchored by star-in-the-making Carly Schroeder, who starred in this summer’s soccer hit “Gracie”, Neil Jordan favorite Adrian Dunbar (“The Crying Game”),Academy Award Nominee Katharine Ross (“The Graduate”), George Harris (“Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix”), Jane Lynch (“Forty Year Old Virgin”) and Christine Adams (“Batman Begins”).

THE STORY

Expelled from high school in Los Angeles, 15 year old Alyssa (Schroeder) is forced to live with her father, a crusty dolphin research scientist Hawk (Dunbar) in the Bahamas who has no time in his life for an unruly teenager. After their personalities clash Alyssa feels like a prisoner on the isolated island — but when she forms an unexpected friendship with an orphaned wild dolphin, she finds that she and her special friend have the power to bring hope to the impoverished people of her new home.

“I give it a ‘A’ for Ah-dor-a-ble. Carly is totally believable. The beautiful water, pristine beaches and amazing animals in the film are pretty powerful”
- Girl’s Life

“This fantastic film is in theaters this summer. Do yourself a favor and see it.”
- Teen Magazine

It would be a fun movie to watch. So if you’re looking for family movie this summer, this is it!
