Is the housing market really that bad? I don’t think so. When I grow up, I really want to own more real estate. I mean, lots and lots of properties. Why? Let me tell you a story.
My dad worked as a businessman in an industry that made lots and lots of money. If you know your on top of the game, you can make just about anything. Because of this, we were considered above middle class when I was growing up. I was about 9 years old when my dad lost his job. We wouldn’t have been able to survive unless my mom – during my dad’s top earning years – invested in real estate. She had friends that would offer her land or homes that are in the danger of foreclosing or from people that need immediate cash. The offer would be way below the market price. My mom, as gentle-hearted as she is, really just wanted to help those in need. The problem is, they won’t be able to pay her back and she would be stuck with the property. Instead of her leaving the property sitting for nothing, she would rent it out. The funny thing is, when my dad lost his job, the rental properties kept us afloat. Actually, those properties put me through school and more.
