The big toss-up: Grandfather or Mantle Clock?
Seth Thomas. The clock that hung our wall by the staircase while I was growing up. It will probably fetch a fair amount in an auction house if it ever gets sold. My understanding is that it is an heirloom from my grandfather. It has a winding key, and the clock reads perfect time every time as long as it is wounded. Although, I think one of my aunts claimed the clock when we moved overseas. Shucks.
I am a clock admirer because of that. I have seen many types of clocks including cuckoo clocks. My ultimate dream however is to own a grandfather clock. I have a friend who bought one recently and just imagining how the chime would ring inside my home makes me want to get one. Did you know that they come with different types of chimes? I had no idea until I started looking into it. If you are a clock collector, you may want to get in touch with other people who has the same interest through an online blog. You can discuss the make, models and types of clock available in the market today. Some clocks could be very expensive and there were times that I thought it would be best for me to just get a mantle clock but I am really in love with granfather clocks.
New clocks could also be as special and as charming. They have newer versions of clocks that also produces chimes similar to the mantle clocks and grandfather clocks. A wide variety of brands such as Kieninger, Movado, or Howard Miller design clocks are also available.
