Safety – still the best policy.
Working in a safety environment is key these days. Nothing can come between safety and your employees. If you own a business, you must have posted safety regulations all over your work areas as you can never tell what would happen.
I remember when I was working for a convalescent center as a teen, we needed to report any incident regardless of how small you think it is. Cutting yourself while disassembling a wheelchair or accidentally slipping on the hallway is a cause for an incident report. This records the incident in case you need to refer to it in the future, be it a lawsuit or a case study for safety in the workplace.
Now that I am in the logistics industry, I know that our warehouses are equipped with safety gadgets that prevent incidents such as the tarp straps that they use to hold firm together pieces of metal tubes on top of a pallet. This will prevent the metal tubes from rolling off and accidentally injuring anyone that may be in the warehouse handling the material or people surveying our warehouses.
My friend recently opened a nail salon. The materials they use for this include toxic acrylic nail products that could be harmful if inhaled by the individuals doing the work. He had stocked gloves, and masks, including safety goggles for his employees knowing that safety could save his business lots of cash and headaches in case something happens.
Are you taking safety seriously in your business? You should.
