He got what he deserved. What he did was very unprofessional - and quite boneheaded to say the least. To be fair to him, at least he has realized that now.

It's not so much what was said. The blog is his blog, and he has the right to write what he wants to write in his post. Yes, it was judgmental and offensive to those girls, labeling them "materialistic". Yes, it was bad business practice as it puts the studio that employed him (and himself)in a bad light, and would probably result in that school not returning to patronize the business. Yes it could even be construed as discourteous or disrespectful, especially to minors, and especially since the school was paying for the photoshoot.

But nothing criminal or libelous was done with the text. For all we know, a number of these girls are indeed "materialistic", but it's pretty hard to judge these girls if they're "matapobre" or not unless one knows them for an extended period of time. Hard to believe he can judge them just from a photo-shoot, unless these girls really and truly exhibited a love for material things and a disregard what gives a person true character and inner beauty.

But what he did wrong, where he broke the law, was putting the photos up. Those photos don't belong to him or even to the studio. They belong to the families who paid for them. When he put them up without permission, risking the security of those girls (given the high crime rate in this country), then that made him and his studio liable criminally.

i respect his opinion about the daughters of the immaculate material girl. Uploading pictures of his clients may actually be the one that offended us-his clients. his act is unprofessional and most of all inappropriate. i havent seen his multiply account but then it was rumored to have contained more pictures of the students. i'd like to make a comment about his blog entry though. when a student uses her ipod as a prop, it doesn't necessarily mean that she's flaunting her gadgets. she just wants to show how fond she is of music. moreover, her using the ipod as her prop may possibly be a form of expressing herself. i do respect the photgrapher. he was the one who took our pictures and he seemed really nice. moreover, i'm not saying that all of these issues should all blamed on him. the blame is also on us us students since we overreacted regarding that matter and it's not really that of a big issue to begin with. my opinion and my opinion alone.

Here is the controversial post, since you asked for it. :)

daughters of the immaculate material girl

over the past few days, i drown myself over the pool of kim chiu, gwen garci, jennifer lee and zhang ziyi look-alikes. thank god my ears were spared from bleeding over the excessive abuse of the distorted english and filipino language. hearing “it’s so init kaya” and “can i just make use of that costume na lang” for almost a day could ruin your eardrums if you take too much.

what i love about my new work is that it exposes me to people of various personalities and it allows me to interact and be creative with their crazy ideas.

my work starts before the sun could evaporate the dewdrops resting on the grass of the metropolis. i am to shoot the creative poses and shots of the graduating high school lads from an oriental school in the metro. although it was not my first studio shoot, it excites me to see the creative ideas of the young ladies.

prior to the shoot, all the students were tasked to think about their unique creative poses. they are free to bring any props that they think could represent their personalities. some brought their collection of books, pillows and stuffed toys. others were contented with the usual angel and fairy wings matched with their glittery wands. the musically inclined brought their musical instruments (violin, guitar, piano) while the sporty ones brought their golf club, soccer ball, volleyball, basket ball, racing gears, and helmets. those were just the usual props for the shoot. i understand those things very much show their inclinations and hobbies, but bringing ipods, mac books, laptops, more ipods, more mac notebooks, havaiiannas, shopping bags, paper bags, leather signature bags, shoes, shades, money, more bags, more money and more gadgets in the shoot creates an impression that many of those teens put more value to their material possession than the other aspects of their lives.

call me judgmental, but i find it disturbing to see these young kids pose like young gadget magazine models displaying their latest gadgets and techie collections. i understand the imeldific air to splurge in bags and shoes is not new to those kids, considering the media and advertisement hype of paris hilton and the likes, but bringing most of your stuff on the pictorial and making your stage mother carry most of your things bugs me.

could these kids be the next material girls of the future philippine society?
i don’t know. their gusto for material wealth could not really determine their personalities. i will just review their pictures and see who the real material girls are.
____________

i just can’t help but post this. the following are the top 5 poses during the few days of shoot with the kim chiu, gwen garci, jennifer lee and zhang ziyi look-alikes.

5. i am a tech-girl pose
simple. just flaunt your gadgets and strike a pose. more gadgets, more fun.

4. i am a devil(naughty girl with red wings)/ i am an angel (pseudo) pose
wear any of the wings (angel/devil/chicken/fairy) that we provide and pretend to be an avian from the other worlds

3. i am popular pose
call your loyal friends and use them as props. you can ask them to pretend like their asking for your autograph or you can also use their hands to pretend as if they’re clapping for you.

2. i am a shop-aholic pose
rummage your cabinets and bring all your empty shopping bags during the pictorial. the bigger the bag, the better. just make sure the paper bags bear the most expensive brands out there.

1. i am the richest pose
go let your friends throw paper money on your side while you do your poses and act as if you were surprised. you can also try laying down all your bags, shoes and collections on the floor and act as if you are the princess of leather and the heir of paris.

Well, of course I have a copy of the said blog. While I do believe that he had a right to say whatever he had to, he went the extra mile by posting those pictures. So, even if he is "man enough" to stand up for his actions now, I still think he deserves a big "NANAY MO!" for his intolerable offense.

I just found out that BULITAS has deleted the entry. I wish he hadn't so we could all review and say that it wasn't really meant to harm. But I guess, with lawsuits hanging over his head - he doesn't have any choice.

Wish you all the best BULITAS.
