Comedienne Ai-Ai delas Alas laughs off Snooky Serna’s “most plastic” comment
Ai-Ai delas Alas, one of the country’s top comediennes in the industry today, brought closure and laughs to the studio audience of The Buzz yesterday since her return from America last October 17, with no idea that she was now embroiled in another controversy courtesy of actress Snooky Serna. Snooky told reporters her mind about Ai-Ai since the former said that she was snubbed by the latter during the premiere party of Volta way back in 2004. “Hindi ko malimutan ‘yon,” Snooky recalled. “In-invite kasi ako ni Direk Wenn [Deramas] sa premiere party and I think birthday din ni Ms. Ai-Ai ‘yon. That evening, hindi ako pinapansin. I felt so left out, and to put it bluntly, I felt cheated. Para bang trying hard na pinipilit ko sarili ko na ma-in doon.”
A bemused Ai-Ai could only joke about it.
“Busy akong nagsu-show, busy ako sa pagtatrabaho habang siya [Snooky] busy siya paninira sa akin. Huwag mo na lang ako pag-tripan at this point,” she said laughing.
Still laughing, she explained how word about the issue got to her.
“Ang TFC kasi, malawak ‘yan. Sa The Buzz ko nakita yung interview niya. In fairness sa akin, hindi ko na rin matandaan ‘yon, e, 1994 pa ‘yon, e… Ay, 2004 pala! E, 2007 na ngayon.
“Kinausap ko nga si Direk Wenn, sabi ko, ‘Direk Wenn, ano ba ‘yon?’
“Sabi niya, ‘Tange, premiere night ‘yon!’
“Sabi ko, ‘Ah! Premiere night ba natin ‘yon?’ Pero sabi niya kay Direk Malu [Sevilla] na nag-sorry naman siya [Snooky] at sinabi niya na pinansin ko naman daw siya,” Ai-Ai narrated.
When the laughs died down, Ai-Ai was asked about her reaction to the “pinaka-plastic na tao” comment of Snooky. The actress named Ai-Ai and Gerald Anderson as the “most plastic celebrities” in showbiz when she guested on Mo Twister’s radio program.
“Actually, nakakatawa kasi nagsasabi siya ng totoo!” laughed Ai-Ai.
The reaction brought the audience in fits as Ai-Ai once again proved how untrue Snooky’s words were. One of the hosts of The Buzz then shared her observation about Snooky being the first—and probably the only—person in the industry to have said those words to Ai-Ai.
“Oo nga!” Ai-Ai agreed. “Buti na lang, at least may nagsasabi sa akin. Iba siya! Yung iba kasi sinasabi na ‘Uy, mabait ka!’ o ‘Uy, cute ka!’ Siya lang ang nagsabi nun kaya, at least, iba siya.”
It took quite a while for Snooky to speak up since it all happened way back in 2004. What was Ai-Ai’s take on this and why did she say “Huwag mo na lang akong pag-tripan.”
“Ibig sabihin kasi nun, parang 2004 pa ‘yon at 2007 na ngayon, e. Siguro naman during those years, e, nagkita na kami at sana sinabi na niya during those times na ‘Uy, Ai, ha, nainis ako sa iyo, kasi hindi mo ako pinansin.’ Kung ganoon, e, sana nakapag-sorry na ako. Sino ang mas plastic sa amin, e, di siya,” the comedienne said bluntly.
Is she mad at Snooky for raising this issue now?
“Medyo nagagalit, na medyo hindi, kasi mas nakakatawa. Pero mas naaawa ako sa kanya. Naaawa ako dahil kailangan pa niyang mag-resort sa ganito para pag-usapan,” replied Ai-Ai.
If they ever meet again, what would Ai-Ai do?
“Promise, hindi ko na siya papansinin,” Ai-Ai jokingly vowed.
In a more serious manner, she said that “Kung ano man ang naramdaman niya, e, pasensiya na. Ayoko kasi ng may kaaway. Kumbaga, mag-isip na lang siya ng mas magandang bagay. Yung postitibo, and let’s spread love and unity and peace to the universe.”
