Putting up a Christmas tree this year made me think twice

It’s time to put up the Christmas Tree!! Woohoo~!! I usually don’t get excited putting up a Christmas tree because I’m single and really enjoyed putting it up only when I had a boyfriend. My boyfriend and I made it a tradition every year where he puts up the Christmas tree and I decorate. After everything is done, we get to invite friends for the lighting of the tree. He flips the switch to turn on the Christmas lights while few of my closest friends are gathered around the tree. I usually serve wine and cheese for the occasion.

I was a little hesitant to put up the tree this year since I figured, energy prices are up and really – it will only cost me money for nothing. But, since my discovery of how energy efficient LED Christmas lights are, I think I’m going to do it anyway. Besides, it’s one way to feel the spirit of the holiday.

Traditional incandescent holiday lights consume 80% (mini-lights) to 99% (C9) more electricity than LED holiday lights. LED Christmas lights will also last for more than 50,000 hours v. only 2000 for incandescent lights. So not only will you save money on electricity but you’ll ave money on replacement lights too. LED holiday lights also operate at only 1 degree above ambient temperature so they do not heat up and become a fire hazard like incandescent lights. Finally, LED Christmas tree lights are encased in a nearly indestructible expoxy plastic bulb which can withstand lots of abuse unlike fragile glass bulbs.
