Jodie Foster gives thanks to Cydney through thick, thin

Jodie Foster gave a really moving and surprisingly candid speech when she received the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award at the 16th annual Women in Entertainment Breakfast on Tuesday.
I wondered if Jodie, who turned 45 last month, was going to do more movies since she seems to do, at most, one a year.
“One movie a year is really way too much even honestly. I (once) did two movies in a year … and it almost sent me over the edge.”
She had a rare box office misfire this fall with “The Brave One,” which opened at No. 1 but went on to gross just under $37 million domestically.
“You make movies for the right reasons, hopefully, and that’s a movie that I’m probably more proud of than anything I’ve done in many, many, many years. Some movies aren’t for everybody.”

Piolo, Sam, and Lolit, no-show at first hearing of libel case
All three of them, no show. Come on? Who’s afraid of who here? Sam and Piolo afraid of Lolit Solis? Maybe. Cause I know that Kristy Fermin has power among actors in the Philippines, I doubt Lolit has the same power. But why NO SHOW? Get some guts people!!

Ginanap ang unang pagdinig sa libel case na isinampa nina Piolo Pascual at Sam Milby kay Lolit Solis kaninang umaga, December 6, sa Manila City Hall. Pero hindi ito sinipot ng mga personalidad na nabanggit.
Ang nag-represent kina Piolo at Sam ay ang abogado nila na si Atty. Joji Alonso at si Atty. Noel Malaya naman ang nagpunta para kay Lolit. Nandun din si Atty. Gary Sancho representing Veronica Samio, entertainment editor ng Pilipino Star Ngayon, na nag-request ng extension sa pagsa-submit ng kanilang counter affidavit.
Ayon sa napagkasunduan, naka-set ang susunod na hearing sa December 13, Thursday, alas-diyes ng umaga. Sa pagkakataong ito, isusumite na nina Atty. Malaya at Atty. Sancho ang kani-kanilang counter affidavits para sa kanilang mga kliyente.
Ayon kay Atty. Malaya, kaya sila nag-request ng extension—na karaniwang ginagawa sang-ayon sa batas—ay para lalong maklaro ang mga dokumento na naka-attach sa complaint.
ABS-CBN to remake three Susan Roces movies
I love Susan Roces movies!! I never saw “Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara!” but I really enjoyed the comedy films that she did. I don’t really remember her as being a horror movie type of character. Since Kris Aquino was a huge success on ‘Feng Shui”, maybe this will work. I’ll just have to wait and watch the movie.

Dumating sa presscon ng Alay ni Da King: An FPJ Special kagabi, December 5, ang biyuda ni Fernando Poe Jr. na si Susan Roces, ang anak nilang si Grace Poe-Llamanzares, at ang ABS-CBN Channel Head na si Charo Santos-Concio. Inamin ni Susan sa presscon na after three years ng pagkawala ng kanyang asawa ay may nararamdaman pa rin siyang kirot sa puso.
“Palagay ko, katulad ng ibang naranasan na ang mawalan ng isang mahal sa buhay, it will never go away,” sambit ni Susan. “Maya’t maya may mga alaalang bumabalik. But siyempre, in life, we have to prioritize. Hindi naman puwedeng malungkot ka lang palagi.
“Pero hindi naman maaring sabihin na tapos na, wala na. Nandiyan lang siya palagi. Alam ko sa ngayon, natutuwa siya dahil lahat naman ng ipinagbilin niya ay isa nang natutupad katulad nga nito,” sabi ni Susan na ang tinutukoy ay ang appointment ni FPJ bago siya namatay kay Charo para sa kanyang mga pelikula.
Ibinalita rin ni Susan ang bago niyang programa sa ABS-CBN pagkatapos mawala sa ere ng sitcom nila ng Comedy King na si Dolphy at Diamond Star na si Maricel Soriano, ang John En Shirley.
Lolit Solis wishes to dialogue with Sam and Piolo
Oh, now she wants a dialogue. Hmmm. Did going to jail scare you Lolit? Or are you pretending that this is ‘the spirit of Christmas’ gesture? The question is, did you or did you not see Piolo and Sam at the Sofitel Hotel. No proof? Sorry, go to jail and don’t pass GO Lolit!

The cool Christmas breeze seems to be melting Lolit Solis’s tough stance against actors Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby.
“Gusto ko naman talagang makipag-usap kina Piolo at Sam kasi saan ba pupunta ‘to, di ba? Wala naman. Ano bang mapapala ko? Ano din mapapala nila?” she said in a taped interview with GMA-7’s news program, 24 Oras.
Lolit was referring to the court case filed against her by Piolo and Sam following an article she wrote in her Pilipino Star Ngayon column on October 15 saying that she caught the two cozily whispering to each other in the coffee shop of the Sofitel hotel. While seemingly a harmless write-up, the two heartthrobs accused Lolit of maliciously reviving the gay issue against them.
The talent manager-host reiterated that she does not harbor ill feelings against the two actors since she doesn’t know Piolo and Sam personally. Lolit is more affiliated with GMA-7 while Piolo and Sam are both part of ABS-CBN’s stable of talents. Read more

Why don’t they pay attention to doing their jobs better rather than pointing fingers. That is what’s wrong with officials in the Philippines, they focus on everyone else’s duties but their own. Do your job and stop the bickering for crying out loud!!

Edu Manzano, chairman of the Optical Media Board (OMB), and Senator Bong Revilla exchanged barbs yesterday, December 5.
Both government officials expressed their disappointment after an anti-piracy raid at Makati Cinema Square. Edu reportedly called Bong’s participation an “interruption” because, aside from not coordinating with him about the raid, he also had the confiscated material brought to the street for a “photo-op.”
“Ang ginawa ni Revilla, pinababa niya ang mga nakumpiska into the street at nagpakuha ng litrato,” said Edu. “Nasaan na ba siya? Nang ako ang namumuno rito, natanggal ang Pilipinas sa priority watchlist ng UN Trade Representatives, bukod sa award na natatangap ng OMB mula sa mga international anti-piracy organization.” Read more

When I first saw her video on Youtube, I knew that this girl is going to go places. She’s better than any artists there are in the Philippines today, and that includes Regine Velasquez. Her voice has such high octave and yet, she can come up and down while she sings. Amazing. GO GO GO Charice! Make the Philippines proud!!

She was just a Little Big Star Finalist then. Nobody knew that two years later, Charice Pempengco would become a singing sensation not only in the Philippines but also abroad. Charice gained popularity online through the video-sharing site YouTube. A registered user of the site uploaded a video of her Little Big Star performance of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You.” The recording company Ten Songs Production and Extensive Talent Management—based in Stockholm, Sweden—discovered this video and asked her to record six songs for them.
Among the songs that she recorded were two covers—”I Will Always Love You” of Whitney Houston and “Running Up That Hill” of Kate Bush—and four original songs sourced by Ten Songs namely “All The Money In the World,” “Amazing,” “It Can Only Get Better,” and “Born to Love You Forever.” These songs are expected to be released digitally.

It’s that time again. Time to shop for Christmas ay? I know that some of us really save up for Christmas. There are programs that they join at work where you contribute a certain amount every month for your Christmas gift fund. But a lot of us don’t and most of us use our credit cards to shop and suffer all year next year to pay for it.
Here are a few tips to avoid such a hassle next year:
If you must use your credit card this year, find a credit card with the lowest interest rate and one considered as one of the best among cash back credit cards. You have to weigh in the amount they charge on interest and the amount you get back. You also need to be sure that it participates in cash back for all or most of the merchants that you frequently visit.
Do not succumb to ‘Just because it’s on sale’ pitches and buy more of the stuff that you need to give away. Some of us get carried away with the bargains and end up buying more than what we need. If you are trying to minimize your spending, don’t get caught on these promos. Make sure that you compare credit cards , their rates, their offerings, or cash back if any – before using them.
Make a list before you leave the house and promise yourself that you will only buy what’s on the list. When you get to the mall, grab the things on your list and get out. Avoid eating at the food court either – if you must eat, leave the mall and eat somewhere else.
If you have a 0% credit card offer for PURCHASES, use it. It gives you a few months or a year to pay it off without paying interest. Just MAKE CERTAIN that YOU WILL PAY IT OFF.
