Looking for a new place?
A friend of mine, just graduated last December with a degree in Fashion Design. He wanted to move to a big city because he believes that Philadelphia would not be the place where he can establish roots as a Fashion Designer. Besides, all his classmates that graduated from the institute obtained jobs locally so he thought he would be better off moving somewhere else to find his place in the industry.
He chose to move to Chicago. A great place, great city and lots of nice people to meet. He knows a friend of ours who moved to Chicago years back and loves it there. He decided to give it a try and stayed there for a month doing interviews. He finally got a job and wanted to move out of my friend’s apartment to find his own.
Apartments are not so hard to find, if you just want to find a place to crash. This will be his first apartment ever from moving out of his parents’ home and he wanted it to be in the Boys Town area, downtown and not in the suburbs. It would be perfect for someone who’s single to do exactly that.
He called me recently from an empty apartment that he just got. He was sitting in the middle of this studio apartment, looking at his very own place and was just too ecstatic to call it “his” apartment. It was the perfect place that he wanted right in the area and price range that he had planned.
I am proud that he moved to Chicago because it forced him to become independent. He loves it there and will probably make his home there. Goodluck!
