Hey Hey Chicago…here we come!
I cannot imagine driving straight for 15 hours but we did it. We left Southern New Jersey at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, the 28th of December and arrived in Chicago at 9:30 a.m. local time the next day. It was a feat I thought I would never do but it was fun. The ride was excruciatingly boring though because there really wasn’t anything throughout Pennsylvania and Ohio all through Indiana and since we’re driving in the middle of the night, there wasn’t much anything to see. I am just glad we made it safely here.
The reason why we drove? Well, my Interior designer friend moved to Chicago because of job opportunities here. Yes, I am still in Chicago and blogging from here. He left his car back in South Jersey thinking that living downtown would not require him to drive but he found the job located outside of the city so he is now going to need his car. How ironic huh? I helped him drive his car over here and he is flying me back for free!!
I am here right now in the middle of his first apartment ever (he’s never been on his own before Chicago). It’s a studio apartment, spacious and floors laid in hard wood. The only thing that bothers me in his apartment are the footsteps of people above him and I’m sure our footsteps bother the people below us. I told him that he should get Oriental Rugs to cover the floors. Not only does it add style and grace to his apartment but it also serves as a safety net between him and his neighbors downstairs!!
Neighbor spats can get ugly sometimes.
Seriously though, I can’t think of anything else to lay down on his beautiful hard wood floors but Area Rugs that can protect not only the hard wood but provide a certain ambiance and comfort in his apartment. Right now it looks so bare and uncomfortable. He is insisting though that I get him the cowhide rug. He is an interior designer so I’m sure he can see the design before I can.
Rugs come in many different types, shapes, color so I guess it depends on what he thinks will fit best on his studio apartment. If I was him, I would still opt for Oriental Rugs but it’s probably not his style. I guess we will be shopping for rugs this weekend!
