Every once in a while, we splurge. Yes, I am guilty of that too! There are times we just want to not worry about money and we have credit cards for it right? Wrong. Eventually, you will pay the bills anyway. Instant gratification is our issue. We charge and charge until we don’t care enough about how much we’ve accumulated because we are already way deep into it.
There’s a way to escape. Remember, if you got there, you can get out of there too~! It will be harder though. It’s like climbing downhill and uphill. Charging (downhill), Paying (uphill). It can be done as long as you know how to outsmart the process.
If you have read my previous posts about the importance of keeping your credit score high, you should know that if you have followed suit – you can bargain the interest rate that you receive from your credit card offers. Did you know that? I had a card one time that chose to increase my credit line ‘because of excellent credit’. I noticed that they increased my interest rate too! Who was on the phone the next second? ME!
After talking to them and telling them that due to my high credit score, I cannot accept the rate that they are charging me and that if they won’t lower it, I will close the account. They lowered my interest rate right there and then and gave me 0% balance transfers which means that I can transfer any amount I owe from other credit cards that charge me a higher interest rate and save lots of earned money. To top it off, they gave me a 12 month 0% promotion! It was a win-win situation.

A fresh look.
Just looking at precious collection of Madonna and Child figurines and wall decor, and I see a lot of clutter. My walls are adorned with limited edition lithographs and I am still craving for more. I want to own a Peter Maxx artwork someday as well.
But the result is quite disturbing. I was told by one of my ‘interior-designer-by-nature’ friend that I should not display all the artwork at the same time. It clutters the room and confuses the people who want to admire them. And I agree. He tells me that I should rotate the display to give a fresh look each time they walk into my home.
So my goal this weekend is to pick the ones that I want to remain and look for a Fine Art Storage place that would help protect the artwork that I so generously paid for. Some of the pieces are over $400.00 USD to $1,000.00. I have an original artwork that I acquired from the Philippines that I’m sure would be worth a lot of money someday and protecting these pieces are a priority.
I better clean up and re-decorate. This weekend will be the only free time I have available that won’t get in the way of my studies. So – - it’s rotation time!
Strolling down memory lane this morning.
Have you ever been to a boardwalk or an arcade and used a penny press machine? I remember it vividly when my first experience was and it’s like strolling down memory lane. I still have that penny today and it must have been over 20 years.
My sister likes going to Atlantic City and since I was very young at the time, I really can’t go inside the casinos and play. What I normally do is hangout at the boardwalk and play arcade games. It was amazing for me to look at the penny not only because it was unbelievable but the penny still brings back memories of those lazy days in Atlantic City. Just imagine a simple penny hand-cranked on a penny press machine could bring back memories as great as that.

We try to be responsible in the best possible way we can and we make certain that we have every bill covered every month yet at times, there comes a time that we just fall short in cash? It has over a year now since my ex-boyfriend and I visited Florence, Italy. We were there in September the year before. It was a very short trip – - we had a total of 5 days between the city of Florence and Rome. I had been to Rome before but not in Florence. The reason for the long lines is self-explanatory. The Uffizi Gallery houses much of the most treasured artwork of all time. You will be able to take a glimpse of Da Vinci’s Annunciation and The Adoration of the Magi, Carravagio’s The Sacrifice of Isaac, and Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus to name a few. It is a wonderful collection and if you love art like I do, you will be awed by Uffizi Gallery’s beauty. It was a wonder to behold, a treasure to keep in your memory forever.
While we were there, we couldn’t have asked for better weather. The temperature was about 70 degrees (F), and the sun was bright as it could be. Falling in line wouldn’t be as bad with that kind of weather but what if it was raining or 90 degrees? I wish we had more time but I’m glad that my partner pre-purchased our tickets to the Uffizi Gallery, otherwise we would be falling in line forever. Believe me, you would be glad you did.
Valentine’s Day – - sobra sa kilig or kulang sa dilig? =)
Hay mga ditse! Naaalala ninyo ba yung post ko last year. It was a time na in full bliss ang relasyon ng Tita Mega. Super Uber in-love at huwag ka, ispo-eld ang ditse nyo last year no?! I just saw this movie trailer for the upcoming film for Valentine’s Day entitled “My Best Friend’s Girlfriend” starring Richard Gutierrez and Marian Rivera. The life of Jake.
Attention pet lovers! I told you about my new bestfriend right? No, it’s not Reyna. I said NEW right? Ha-ha! It’s all about Jake. My new Shih Tzu. He has just been wonderful and a bundle of joy (literally) since I took him home. Like my bestfriend Simba before, I chronicled his life as he was groing up from the moment he came home in a DVD that my ex-boyfriend created. I still watch it today and it brings tears to my eyes.
For Jake, I want to create an online journal. I want to share his life with me with other pet lovers out there. I can network with not only pet lovers but experts as well on the Shih Tzu breed. I can ask questions and be surrounded by the people that love animals as much as I do. I would invite Reyna to create a journal for Toby too. I think, for most animal lovers – they do like the interaction that we get about something we have in common. Either a dog or a cat, it’s not just a pet for us. It is a part of our families and knowing that there are people like us around the globe is comforting. Only those that love animals would understand why I cried so much when Simba passed. He wasn’t just a dog – he was my best friend.
Not that I have Jake, I want to share his life with me to the world. He is very energetic and eats a lot too! HA! I can create his profile, post his pictures and share them with others.

How’s that resolution going?
Yeah yeah yeah. You said you were going to lose weight this year right? You said you were going to make it a point to go to the gym three times a week. You said, you said. This is what I hear all the time now. I was going to be sorry that I made that resolution. I really want to lose weight, and I really want to look good specially for my trip to the Philippines in May! I have a little less than four months to get myself together! I need help!!!

Daybreak – An Indie film that looks very promising
A new film coming out in February 2008 called Daybreak. Coco Martin and Paolo Rivero (comes from a list of Filipino Hunks) stars in this ala 24th Day (gay-themed film starring the X-Men, Underwold hunk Scott Speedman)(2004) mixed with Brokeback Mountain (gay-themed film starring the late Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal).
The film shows only these two characters and their conversation during one night together to talk about their relationship, their courage and love for each other. The conversation hone in on their true emotions for each other.
I am very thrilled that a Filipino filmmaker will try and tackle a story based on a story that occurs overnight based only on these two characters, William and JP. It is refreshing to know that Filipinos as artists are jumping in and trying their hands at different levels of movie-making. The preview is quite enough for me to know that this could end up to be a great film. I am expecting this film to be an entry to the Philadelphia Gay and Lesbian Film Festival this year.

Director Joey Reyes to sign exclusive 3-picture deal with GMA Films

Nakarating sa PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) ang balita na pipirma na ng three-picture exclusive contract sa GMA Films ang direktor na si Jose Javier Reyes bukas ng gabi, January 24. First project ng premyadong direktor ang Monster Mom, a co-production with Regal Entertainment na pagsasamahan ng mag-inang Ruffa Gutierrez at Annabelle Rama.
Pagbibidahan naman ni Sharon Cuneta ang second project ni Direk Joey sa GMA Films. Hindi pa lang tiyak ang makakapareha ng Megastar sa naturang pelikula. Kay Direk Chito Roño kasi ibinigay ang Sharon-Richard Gomez project na Hula, pero malay natin at maiba ang desisyon ng film company.
For his last project, isang indie film na mala-Pare Ko (one of Direk Joey’s best films) at pagbibidahan ng Studs ang kanyang gagawin. Pero may feeling ang PEP na madadagdagan ang movie assignment ni Direk Joey sa GMA Films na pinamamahalaan ni Annette Gozon-Abrogar at mae-extend ang kanyang kontrata.

Patrick Garcia is all prepared for the coming of his baby with girlfriend Jennylyn Mercado, who is now almost two months pregnant.
During the launching of the Friendster Fan Profile earlier today, January 23, at the Ascend Bar on Bonicafio High Street, Taguig City, the 26-year-old actor told PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) that he is not only the one who is excited about having a baby, but also his parents because the child will be the first “apo” in their family.
This is the same excitement that Mommy Lydia and Daddy Roger, Jennylyn’s adoptive parents, are feeling right now. In fact, Patrick said, everybody seems to be preparing for it.
He added, “I think they’re excited din. I think the pressure is on na. They’re excited already, I mean, they’re all preparing for the baby.”

Aiko Melendez admits love department is her “Waterloo”
Quezon City Councilor Aiko Melendez looks slimmer and happier nowadays.
Taking a respite from her duties as a public servant, Aiko along with Rica Peralejo and Carlene Aguilar were officially launched as the new face of Marie France earlier today, January 23, at the Shangri-La Hotel in Makati City.
Aiko revealed excitedly the number of pounds she recently shed: “More than twenty pounds! Half my size, I guess.”
For all her enthusiasm, the mother of two also revealed that she’s not yet sitting on her laurels as far as her initial success in fighting the bulge is concerned.
“If I had it my way, I would want it mga twenty pounds pa,” she confessed to PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and YES! magazine. “Because you know how it is when you’re on TV, di ba? You gain ten pounds, so parang just right for TV.”
Do you know what absinthe is?
Have you ever heard of absinthe? Me neither. Apparently, it almost had a worldwide ban at one point and it was because it was thought to have a psychoactive ingredient called thujone. However, this assumption had been disproved and absinthe is now making a comeback. To find out more, I dug up some information I could find about it on the internet.
Absinthe is a distilled, highly alcoholic (usually 68 to 80 percent) anise-flavored spirit derived from herbs including the flowers and leaves of the medicinal plant Artemisia absinthium, also called Grand Wormwood or Absinth Wormwood. Absinthe is typically green (either naturally or with added color) or clear and is often referred to as la Fée Verte (’The Green Fairy’). Although it is sometimes mistakenly called a liqueur, absinthe is not bottled with added sugar and is therefore classified as a liquor or spirit. Absinthe is uncommon among spirits in that it is bottled at a high proof but consumed diluted with water to the strength of wine.
Absinthe originated in Val-de-Travers, Switzerland as an elixir/tincture. However, it is better known for its popularity in late 19th and early 20th century France, particularly among Parisian artists and writers whose romantic associations with the drink still linger in popular culture. At the end of the 19th century over 2 million litres of absinthe were consumed annually in France alone, and 36 million by 1910. Further, absinthe was portrayed as a dangerously addictive, psychoactive drug; the chemical thujone was blamed for most of its deleterious effects. The Lanfray murders of 1906 caused a petition to the Swiss government leading to its prohibition in Switzerland, and subsequently other countries. By 1915, it was prohibited in a number of European countries and the United States.
Though it was vilified, no evidence shows it to be any more dangerous or psychoactive than ordinary alcohol. A modern absinthe revival began in the 1990s, as countries in the European Union began to reauthorize its manufacture and sale. As of August 2007 over 100 brands in a dozen countries are produced. A glass of absinthe doesn’t have the effect as originally thought. It is probably similar to the alcohol that’s out in the market today.
