Hey Fitz! You know why? You are absolutely correct. Profits from gay-themed films have gone through the roof! Not only in the theaters but on sale of DVDs as well.

I remember when I went home last May, I bought about 10 different gay-themed films produced in the Philippines. And more and more films are being created. The success of Brokeback Mountain didn't hurt either.

There are quite a few with sex scenes but I know what you mean. They are not daring enough yet. The Board of Censors might still have their fangs. And besides, it's a Catholic Country. You'll never know what the church will do. They could ban it.

Indie films, particularly gay-themed movies are coming out (pun not intended) left and right these days. I wonder what's the reason; has it become really profitable, or has production become really easy with all the technology available?

In any case, I must say that the art direction, story, script and acting are immensely improving but I still have to see a film of this genre that will be brave enough not to use sex scenes to market and draw an audience. Or is there one already?

Anyway, that's it for my random thoughts, I wish all the best for all independent Pinoy movie makers. (Ako kaya, kelan magkakaroon ng time na mag-produce ng sarili kong indie film? Hehehe.)

Fitz's last blog post..How To Give Good and Proper Handshakes
