All the way…

Two years ago, I was late for a party and took a road I never take on a normal route. I don’t know the speed limit, I was in a rush – and somehow, I got nabbed. The cop gave me a ticket with a mark running 26 miles over the speed limit. Uhuh! It was a 25 mph zone and I was running 51 mph. I know for sure that I wasn’t driving that fast because there was a slow car in front of me. Even if I was driving above the speed limit, it was probably a good 10 mph at the most.

Needless to say, I went to court to fight it off because the cop did say that I could just plead not guilty if I don’t believe that I was at fault and the judge should dismiss the case. I wish I know how to fight a speeding ticket because by the time I got to the courthouse, the mediator asked me how I wanted to plead and I told him ‘not guilty’. He asked if I was sure because I could get the fine plus points and court costs. A scare tactic if you will. I ended up pleading guilty and paying almost 500 dollars in fines and court costs. That was such a bummer.

So, if you must know how to fight a speeding ticket, read up on it online. There are plenty of resources available for you. If you believe that you were not at fault, fight it all the way. That’s the only way you can get justice done.
