With the upcoming elections, maybe a grandfather clock is in order…

I have long been fascinated by grandfather clocks. Always wanted one but I felt like I could never afford it. First of all, I don’t think I have enough space in my townhouse to hold one but I really really want one! My friend from DC just told me about his recent purchase of one and I am so jealous. My home would definitely be content to be graced with a grandfather clock.

You see, grandfather clocks are heirlooms. I wish my parents had one and that they had bestowed it on me. It is a timeless (no pun intended) piece and anyone can enjoy a grandfather clock forever. I particularly like the chimes, specially the Ave Maria or the Westminster Chime. It seems to remind me of the old days when children run around the school yard or playing around the home, and you hear the church chimes when a certain hour passes. It’s a great travel to memory lane for me.

I didn’t know that there are blogs that are focused on Grandfather Clocks and they talk about the different styles and different features of grandfather clocks. By visiting the blog, I was able to learn more about choices that I have. And even though I don’t have enough space in my home, I will make space. I just can’t keep wanting it when I know that I will enjoy it once I get it. The ones that are famous during elections are the Howard Miller Presidential Clocks. Like the Eisenhower clocks. I wonder if there will be a Clinton Grandfather clock someday?
