Chuva Chienes – a Restaurateur?
I received an offer the other day from my realtor. She said, “Chuva – this could be a great opportunity for a business-minded person like you! There is a Filipino Restaurant for sale nearby, maybe you would want to take a look at it.”
My friend, who was a restaurant-owner-turned-realtor was the first one to offer my family a great deal on her restaurant. I didn’t take the offer although it was the best offer anyone could ever receive. The reason? I didn’t have anyone who could man the restaurant while I work full-time. She was suffering from breast cancer and had to undergo treatment and she didn’t want to give the restaurant to just anyone. She spoke to my sister (who is a cancer survivor) regarding the deal and they hit it off. We were going to obtain a Business Loan, get a few people to man the store but my main problem was the chef. I didn’t know anyone in the area who could cook for me full time with a start-up restaurant. My sister and I thought it over, even thinking of only opening on weekends but we knew we couldn’t survive with just weekend income. We had to let it go. Now, that restaurant is the talk of the town. Someone took over and it is such a hit. We don’t regret letting go of the decision but we saw how we could run a restaurant if ever we decide on the next one that comes along.
Now, the offer is here. I am going to take a look at the location (it has to be in a great location, otherwise it wouldn’t work), assess our efforts and then decide. Who knows – - Chuva Chienes may just turn out to be a restaurateur after all!
