The month of May is a month for birthdays for me.
May must be the month where I send the most birthday cards in all of the months throughout the year. I know so many people who celebrate their birthday in May. Yes, I’m a Gemini – the twin. Most of my friends (who I get along with most of all) are Geminis. My patron saint’s feast, Sta. Rita de Cascia is also celebrated in May. That is why I think I’m so blessed to have been born in the month of May. May also symbolizes a lot to do with Our Lady’s apparition in Fatima, Portugal. I think the first apparition was on May 13th and that is why the month of May is very special for me.
I remember when I was growing up, my mom would always remind me that I am special because I was born in the month of May. She’s a very pious woman and also a devotee of Our Lady. I have always felt special because of that. I get so excited during my birthday because a lot of these memories flood back into my mind. I have nothing but good memories during the month of May. Our hometown of Baclaran celebrates the feast of my patron saint and we offer flowers to Our Lady as well during this time.
There must be more than 10 people in my family who was born in the month of May and Mother’s Day is celebrated on the same month too. A special time indeed. To all my co-celebrants this month – - Happy Birthday!!
