Speak English much? Goodbye Entrecard. It’s too bad.
Well hello – hello!! You know that I’ve encouraged people to sign up for Entrecard because I believe it is the best way to get traffic on your site most specially if you are a newbie into the blogging arena and would like your blog to become noticed in this wide ocean called the world wide web. I have been advocating people to sign up and participate. In fact, I’ve met many friends from all over the world because of Entrecard. They drop cards on my site and I drop cards on theirs. We add each other as favorites and we get to know each other well by visiting each other’s blogs.
It is a networking site. And although they initially approved my site for being a non-English blog, they have now taken the liberty to delete non-English blogs from their network. So, this morning when I logged into my email – this is what I found:
It read:
Your account ‘Cheezmizan with Chuva’ on entrecard.com has been deleted. The administrator gave the following reason:
Sorry, we are currently unable to support non-English blogs in our network
Please contact support@entrecard.com if you have any questions regarding this action.
So, I responded back informing them that my readers are mostly Filipinos and mostly from the Philippines. I told them that it is a shame that blogs can be removed from the “SOCIAL NETWORK” just because it is not fully written in English.
I have met so many people through Entrecard. People from all over the world – France, Singapore, China, Germany, Australia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Philippines, and the United States. Not all of them have English blogs but they do know how to communicate in English – otherwise, I wouldn’t get to know them.
For me, it’s like having a Miss Universe pageant but discounting contestants that do not speak in English. Forget your interpreters (Google translators), and forget becoming ambassadors of your own countries because you are REQUIRED to speak in English. Forget World Peace as well.
I was encouraging people to join Entrecard, most specially my Pinoy friends. Now, I have to warn them instead that if they don’t blog in English, your blog is in danger of getting deleted from this “Social Network”.
So for now, at least until they change their stance on this – your cards on my Entrecard will no longer appear. And to those who had their cards on queue to appear on my site – Entrecard canceled that as well so my apologies.
