Chikatime.com says goodbye…
Hello peeps!! It is a sad day today. I found out that Chikatime.com has now closed their blog. I have been visiting their blog regularly simply to be entertained and knowing that a lot of their posts were made in jest. Yes, maybe they’ve crossed the line one or two times but I visit their blog because it was very funny. The posts are very witty and so hilarious that sometimes I can’t stop giggling while reading them.
They did admit on their last post that “It is wrong to make fun of celebrities, socialites and media people” (*mali pala to write negatively about public figures like artistas, media people, socialites, etc. “). I will not get into the many “alleged” reasons why they closed their blog as I don’t really know why. It is a lesson for all bloggers that you can take “funny” only to a certain level. I think it depends on the purpose of the writer. satire and heckling are two different things. Pag heckling lang walang sense ang laman, p[uro panlalait, pero ang satire, you use an approach that intends to rub the object of satire para matauhan. I chose the latter because oftentimes, entity and institution responds in satire. Minsan kailanagn maging satirical para matauhan. no just to make fun of them. Minsan natural sa writer ang humor.. it spices up the article nbut it doesnt mean that we insult them. Public figure sila. they should expect the public to watch their every move. even the most hilarious and funniest.
yung panlalait nasa sa arrive ng intention yun. ako I am quite harsh with my review of some shows and politics but it doesnt mean I make fun of them. Kasalanan ko ba kung di ako fan ni Jolina o ni Gloria? haha

I agree – that public figures need to watch what they do because they are in a way, role models for people.. and if you need to nudge them a bit to get them to realize their errs – - okay lang yun. Pero kung panlalait lang lagi… at wala namang katuturan… it’s wrong.
$ Hi Sarah, welcome to my blog. FYI, hindi ako part ng Chikatime but I became friends with them dahil celebrities din ang subjects nila.. Eh bakit inggitera ka diyan. Alam po ng PEP na ginagamit ko ang content nila dahil source sila sa mga chizmiz dito and I even correspond with them through email… sana bago ka magsalita, magresearch ka muna.. ipokrita.

was it wrong? i dont see anything wrong with making fun or ridiculing PUBLIC figures. kung ayaw nila, then live a private life and don’t mind people. ngayon pag tinira ka without you even doing anything with THAT person, wez tirahin mo rin and just keep all the history nung tinira ka just in case! i don’t know chika time, ngayon ko lang nabasa to sa entry mo, i don’t even know what they did, but then again am sure they knew very well where the demarcation line is.
I will miss that site. Not for anything else pero nakakatawa talaga yung mga posts dun. Very witty. Ang sarap talagang tirahin ang mga social climbers at posers. Anyway, I hope one day one brave soul will come out with a similar blog and dish the dirt on Manila’s high society.

It was Jenni Epperson who had chikatime closed. When she was able to get her hands on who was really behind http://www.chikatime.com, she immediately bullied the poor guy into writing an apology letter to avoid exposing the contributor’s identity.

$ makoy – nakow, pareho pala tayo. i really visit the site for entertainment dahil talagang witty ang pang lalait ng mga lowlas… nakakatawa talaga (most of the time I don’t even know the people there) and very entertaining.
$ fredrick – nakow, huwag na nating alamin pa. they had agreed to disagree and that was that. maybe they should resurrect dishing on U.S. celebrities instead.. number one kasi sila talaga sa pang-a-asar.. katuwa.
$ tintin – I think it was a mutual decision. jenni epperson didn’t really force them pero she warned disclosure of their identities. kung ready ang chikatime authors to be exposed in public, it wouldn’t have been an issue. pero they wanted to stay anonymous.

At Da Who naman ito’ng Ridge na’to na agent ni Shoppingera? I have heard model daw ito na ex yata ng isa sa mga tinira ng Chikatime. But my lips are sealed…baka mamaya ako naman ang huntingin nitong agent smart na’to.
ay nako, wag niyo nang bigyan ng hits ang site ni Jenni Epperson whatsherface. nagiging popular pa ang bruha. She bullied someone who earns “20 thousand pesos lang pala” and forced them to shut down. Only goes to show how tacky she is. Kung may class ka talaga, wala kang pakealam sa ganyan because you are above it.
