Of course, Project Runway returns for the fifth season
It looks like champagne dreams and caviar wishes when the 16 new designers hit New York City for the highly anticipated fifth season of “Project Runway,” premiering on Bravo on Wednesday, July 16 at 10 p.m. But as quickly as the bubbles burst in their champagne glasses, the designers are rudely woken up by their series mentor Tim Gunn, who gets them up and out for their first challenge.
“I feel as though we set the bar higher every season,” says host and judge Heidi Klum. “We’ve got some truly talented, innovative and deeply creative designers this year, and I think it’s fair to say, the most diverse — everyone from a rocker chick who mostly works with leather to a more bohemian, surfer boy — and everything in between.”
“Season after season the designers have amazed us,” adds Tim Gunn. “They have different DNA, different chemistry with each other and different views — their creative aptitude is right on par — but how to characterize them? That’s up to the audience!”
In addition to judges Michael Kors and Nina Garcia, this season will include such top-name guest judges from film, fashion, sports and music as Diane Von Furstenberg, Sandra Bernhard, Apolo Ohno, Brooke Shields, LL Cool J, RuPaul, Rachel Zoe, Cynthia Rowley and Francisco Costa.
Then it’s up to the designers to “make it work” in order to avoid hearing Heidi say, “Auf Wiedersehen.”
