It’s that time of year….keep an eye on your basements.
My friend recently purchased a home in West Philadelphia. It’s a work in progress and I know that he took this house on knowing that there are lots of work to be done in order for the house to be in tip-top shape. When I first saw the house, my mouth must have dropped to the ground because my friend asked me, “You don’t like it huh?” – even without saying a word. I took a look a the house and the enormity of the tasks that need to be done was out of this world.
He led me down to the basement and my reaction was more like – why would you even need a basement? It’s really muggy down there and I knew why. The basement probably floods every time it rains. He bought the home at a season when it rains so much so i quickly asked if he had a sump pump. The basement does have a sump pump but I know that with the rains that we have been getting, it wouldn’t be enough. If your property elevations do not allow for a natural gravity flow from your drainage system, you will need a good, reliable sump pump to mechanically remove any water collected.
Sump Backup Pump Systems are ideal for houses with basements most specially this time of year when heavy rains come down and flood basements like you would not believe. He actually listened and told me that it would be his first project.
He has been working on the house for a good six months now and when I went back to the home over the weekend, I could not believe it was the same house! He has done so much to that house that even I would purchase that home if you showed it to me today. He said that the most important thing he’s done was to have the sump pump back up pump system that saved him hundreds of dollars. Sure enough, after my last visit, it rained heavily in the area and without the backup sump pump – he said he would have been in big trouble. The sump pump that he had gave out and could have cost him a bundle.
