Two-time FHM Sexiest Woman in the Philippines Katrina Halili guested yesterday, July 19, at StarTalk to talk about the events at the World Trade Center, where the FHM‘s 100 Sexiest Women in the World victory party was held. It wasn’t all smiles and cheers that night, as Katrina was about to reveal.
Even before the interview began, StarTalk host Lolit Solis was already fuming, saying things like, “Wala siyang [Riza Santos] karapatan na ganyanin ang mga taga-GMA! Sila Alyssa [Alano] daw din at si LJ [Reyes]…!”

Of course, of course mga ka-bords. I have a friend in Washington, DC who started blogging shortly after I did. He blogs about his passion for “anything” Louis Vuitton. In a very short time (at least in blogging standards), he has reached a great milestone. His blog has had over one hundred six thousand unique visits, rated at PR 3 and does have many loyal visitors. He is being compared to Bryanboy as far as his love of handbags but rated better. One commenter, Melvel on the discussion of Francis’ blog at the FemaleNetwork.com said, “I am such a fan too! So much better than Bryanboy! His taste is classy, I love his bags! Especially the made-to-order Speedy with his initials.” You can visit the discussion here.
I am specially proud because I remember when we both started blogging. He will call me for advice and ask me whether he should monetize his blog or not, how to obtain traffic and so forth. I didn’t give him much since I was a newbie at that time as well yet I believe he’s done fairly well.
He was recently approved to post ads for eLuxury.com which isn’t an easy feat. It took months before his blog was approved. Congratulations Francis!!!

I hate bugs!!! Ewww!!
It’s summer and although it’s a lot of fun during the season, there are menacing bugs that I hate. I hate flies, roaches, spiders and fireants. I try to keep all the screen doors closed and being very careful when opening the door so that flies or fireants don’t get in.
Fireants are nasty because these bugs do sting. If you disturb their habitat, they can attack you because fireants are very aggressive. Learn to identify their mounds and don’t bother it. If you are going through a fireant infestation, go online and find the best way to rid of them.

Classes are about to start again… should I even enroll this semester?
Yes folks. Chuva is going back to school. I am currently attending the School of Business in Camden, New Jersey. Camden is famous and known to be one of the most dangerous cities in the United States. For some reason, it’s above Miami this year which was at one point took the number one spot. Before I started attending school there, I was really terrified. I didn’t know what to expect and to tell you the truth, I was tempted to carry an M18L Air Teaser laser just to feel safe. Haha!! Well, it is not legal in New Jersey to own stun guns so I opted for a much lesser self defense tool.
I carry a 118 dB Key Chain Personal Alarm just in case. During school hours however, the place is pretty safe. There are security guards stationed at every corner around the school and should anyone try to do anything to me, I could sound the alarm and I could easily ward them off knowing that security guards could come at any given moment. The school I go to is great and I don’t even think that the city of Camden is getting the proper publicity. It’s really not that bad and the people that I’ve come across while in Camden are pretty friendly folks as well. As long as you have your wits about you – you’ll be fine. It’s really about how you conduct yourself at any given situation. I believe that if you know yourself well, you know if danger is nearby. You have been given that gift. There is that little voice that tells you what to avoid and where it is safe. Follow them as well and you’ll be okay.
This will be my second year and a couple more years to go before I get my Bachelor’s Degree. I’m not going to stop though. I plan on completing my degree. I will not let something like “Camden” stop me from getting my degree.

Dance Crew – to Step it Up on tour

The dawggone musician has announced plans for the inaugural America’s Best Dance Crew Live, a 20-date tour to showcase the best the hit MTV show, now in its second season, has had to offer so far.
On the lineup so far are the masked men of season-one winner JabbaWockeeZ (Pinoy-Asian Group) and the wheel-bound B-boys of BreakSk8. Three remaining spots on the tour will soon be filled by crews from seasons past and present.

“Angelina left at 4am in a blacked-out ambulance,” a source tells E! News. “And she’s now back at Chateau Miraval with Brad, the kids, her brother James Haven and Bill and Jane Pitt, Brad’s Mom and Dad.”

I am so annoyed. My blogs were down for over 12 hours…
You may encounter this and you may easily blame your bandwidth or your hosting service for the issue but my sites went down last night. It was receiving a 500 error and a 404 error. Logging into my hosting service to review the logs causing the issue, I found index.php errors all over the place but didn’t know what it meant.
I got on the phone with my hosting service this morning and was told that there were a lot of processes running and the they have fixed the issue. The website was up and running however, I cannot navigate within the site. It gives me an Apache error that I could hardly understand. When I called my hosting service again, I was told that it is because the folders where the URLs for the links to my posts are pointing are GONE!!!! What?$%^&*()_(*&^%$$%^&*()!!!!! There was nothing they can do. They don’t perform backups they said…and even if they did – it was for pure courtesy only. Hmmmfff!!!

My friend recently purchased a grandfather clock and I am drooling. He told me that he ordered it online and I was wondering how you can order such a piece online. He showed me pictures and my mouth just dropped to the floor. It is so gorgeous and meticulously-made that I want one for myself. And I cannot believe the price he paid for it. I didn’t know you can get a grandfather clock for only that much.
You see, it has been my dream to own a grandfather clock ever since I purchased my home. The problem is where to place the clock since I have very limited space in my townhouse. I wanted it so bad however that I will make space if I have to.

Two primetime series ended their run last Friday, July 11: GMA-7′s Joaquin Bordado starring Robin Padilla and ABS-CBN’s Lobo featuring Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin.
Joaquin Bordado, which ran for exactly five months, posted a rating of 40.8 percent behind consistent leader Dyesebel‘s 41 percent. Meanwhile, Lobo, which lasted almost six months, generated a rating of 24.4 percent to land at No. 6

TV Ratings (July 14): “Codename: Asero” and “Iisa Pa Lamang” open with a bang!
If two primetime series ended last Friday, July 11, two shows immediately replaced them last night, July 14: ABS-CBN’s Iisa Pa Lamang and GMA-7′s Codename: Asero.
Codename: Asero opened explosively when it posted a rating of 40.1 percent to grab the second place behind top-rater Dyesebel‘s 40.5 percent. This Richard Gutierrez-Heart Evangelista starrer replaced Robin Padilla’s Joaquin Bordado.
Meanwhile, Iisa Pa Lamang—which boasts a powerhouse cast of dramatic stars led by Claudine Barretto, Diether Ocampo, and Gabby Concepcion—opened with a modest 24.3 percent to take the No. 7 spot. Iisa Pa Lamang was the replacement of the recently concluded Lobo of Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin.

It has been a while since I cried… this video just did it…
I had dinner with my friend Joey last night. He was going through a rough time. He went home a couple of months ago to be with his ailing father. He was told that his father was getting weaker and weaker from colon cancer and was not expected to make it within that week. He hurriedly packed his bags, went home and when he arrived there – his dad seemed fine. His dad told him that he feels well and for Joey not to worry. His dad insisted that Joey should go back home and not waste his time when he could be working back in the U.S. Joey felt the same and agreed to go back home. Two days after he arrived in the U.S., his father died.
He couldn’t feel the pain then. Maybe because of shock or because he couldn’t see his father dying after he saw him looking healthy and all just the week before. But last night, he felt it. He wanted to cry but he couldn’t.
He called me this morning and told me that he just let himself go this morning upon receiving an email from his classmates back in college. He felt every pain and he felt the release of all of life’s pressures. I was actually glad. Sabi ko nga sa kanya, sana isinulat niya kay Dear Chuva. haha! Then he told me about the email and the video attached to it.

Do you golf much?
I was glad not to be around during the heatwave here on the east coast. I received many emails telling me how uncomfortable it was over here while I was in Germany. I was lucky in a way that although the weather in Germany was warm, there was a breeze and barely made it up more than 85 degrees. My colleagues in Germany were asking me if I play golf. Uhhhmm duh?!
I remember playing golf with vendors while I was an account manager in Baltimore. It was the most hilarious and embarrassing moment for me. I did go to driving ranges around the area prior to the tournament and felt a bit confident. When the tournament came, I was about to tee off right behind the VP of our transportation vendor. I was practicing my drives and accidentally hit the ground, driving up a handful of grass and soil to the VP’s face. He just looked at me and smiled awkwardly as I apologized profusely.
Since I don’t golf and didn’t have much free weekends in Germany, my colleagues from Spain wanted to give me a treat to go skiing at courchevel chalet in France in the winter. I would love to come back and ski with them – that I can do. I’m no black diamond expert or anything like that but I would take on skiing better than golfing. They showed me this one site through Supertravel and the scenes were just magical. It is cheaper to travel to Europe during the winter so who knows?
I told them that I will definitely visit Spain someday (maybe this coming winter) and they better not change their phone numbers cause I want to go skiing!!
