My latest playground… Montreal.

montreal2-103.jpg

Of course I got your attention! ;)

Hello peeps! I’m sure you know by now that I just spent the weekend in Montreal, in Quebec Province – Canada. It would be considered one of my greatest trip for this year. I had a blast. You probably read my post about our first day in Montreal. And then, I tried to post another entry but since I forgot my power adapter at home, I was only able to post a part of it. The entry was supposed to be about our dinner (courtesy of Monay of America’s Top Monay) to celebrate Monay’s birthday at Au Pied de Cochon.

So, heto na ako mga ka-bords! I’m here to chronicle our trip which was one of the best and funny trip I had ever been. I’m going to tell you the story about the trip through pictures para mas dramatic deba?

montreal-015.jpg

Heto ang unang dinala sa ‘men. Ano to? It’s lemon on steaming hot water?

Hmmm, baka pang-mumog. Ewan, basta hindi ko siya ginalaw.

montreal-018.jpg

Ano kamo ‘to? It’s a vegetable appetizer daw! Sabe?!

montreal-017.jpg

Yan ang close up. Remember this is only for four people. Appetizer pa lang. It has zucchini, radish, oyster, clam, tomatoes, yung parang chorvaloo is like herring, and the best of all are the tempura zucchini blossoms.

montreal-019.jpg

Heto po ang order ko. It’s called Prime Cut. It’s roast pork, topped with caramelized onions and mushrooms, smothered in gravy.  Tingnan ninyo na lang ang laki niyan in proximity to the kutsara. It was scrumptious and I really enjoyed the meal.

montreal-020.jpg

Dapat daw “Eat slowly and enjoy your food!” Sabi naman ng lukaret na Colet (yung isa naming friend na non-blogger), “The secret is to chew your food and count twenty before swallowing.” Lowka~!

montreal-021.jpg

Heto naman ang order ni Coletchina! Anovey?! Isang binti yata ng baboy (Pied de Cochon) yang laki niyan with matchin mashed potatoes pa. Gherl!!!!

Ano ba to? Restaurant o palengke?!

montreal-026.jpg

Birthday celebration ba ‘to o Last Supper? Umorder pa ho si Monay ng French Fries with gravy and cheese nuggets. Anovey?! I beg to differ.

montreal-028.jpg

Kontento? Puwede ba?! Si Monay, kailangan talaga niyan ng desert. Nag-order na lang po kami ng isang desert (I forgot the name but it’s similar to chocolate mousse).

To be continued tomorrow ang entries naten.

Till tomorrow – - may you find love and happiness along the way – - may God keep you in His tender care, till he brings us together again… Goodnight everybody! (O deba? Donny and Marie yan)

Ditse, may I add na the french fries with cheese curds and brown gravy is called poutine. We could have gotten it with foie gras but it seems that none of us cared for it that much so I did not get it with the poutine. Poutine is a Québécois thing. Our dessert was double chocolate pots de creme.

I have to mention too that we love the guy preparing the appetizer in the open kitchen and the waiter who initially served our drinks. So very hot. And it is reservation required, in case any of your readers would like to go there. But it’s one of the top-rated restaurants in Montreal and it is casual (not stuck up formal) and not that expensive. Service is also top notch.

At wala talagang gumamit ng finger bowl (water with lemon chorva) noh. Multiples of 5 naman. And ibinaba ko naman yung aking fork in between bites … for 1 second. Charing! At saka, I did forego the bread noh so that I can have 3 spoonfuls of dessert. Baka magalit naman sa akin yung author ng “French Women Don’t Get Fat” at baka sabihin niyang wala akong ginawang compensation in my meal.

It was my pleasure to celebrate my birthday with my fabulous friends in my favorite city.). Great food, great company. Luv yah, guyz!!! But I love Jean Philippe more, chorva. I miss him already.

Ay Monay!! Sabi ko na nga ba dapat I hired you as my admin while in Montreal eh. Masyado kang detail-oriented. I am still trying to write the other entries para mabigyan na ng finale si Jean-Phillipe, Sam, Charles at Alex!!!

Salamats, YoungCan. Wish you could have celebrated with us. We had so much fun at the resto. And yes, I wish may bayad ako sa resto na yan noh. Super promote talaga ang lowlah mo. I just happen to love eating good food and trying out restaurants especially if they have gotten some buzz. Feeling foodie ang lowlah mo and since I learned about Au Pied a few years ago from some show on the Food Network, I decided to try it when we were in Montreal that time. We’ve been going there ever since and as long as their quality stays the same (I checked the recent reviews muna before making the reservation), I will keep going although pakahirap kumuha ng reservations, ha.

Nakow, I am so taking French Language classes even if I have to buy the whole set of Rosetta Stone to learn it! Chorva!!! Hahahaa!
