Sam Milby reveals he no longer dates Anne Curtis exclusively
After exclusively dating for the past few months, Sam Milby and Anne Curtis have decided to be just friends for now. Sam admits that the demands of their respective careers are now taking a toll on their budding romance. “The real score…is that we’re both very busy right now and we both decided na we really need to concentrate on our careers. Parehas kami—she’s doing a movie right now [the Metro Manila Film Fest entry Baler] and she has Dyosa. I’m gonna start a new movie with Bea Alonzo in Star Cinema. But we’re still friends,” explains Sam.
Is he still dating Anne?
“Walang time talaga,” he answers. “We see each other during tapings but in a lot of scenes, wala naman siya.”
Will it be okay for Sam if he sees Anne going out with other guys? It was recently reported that a 19-year-old race-car driver by the name of Tyson Sy is smitten by Anne’s beauty. When Tyson was 16 years old, he became the youngest Filipino Formula Three driver to join the Asian Formula Three Series.
“I don’t know about that,” admits Sam. “Wala akong masasabi diyan. As I said before, if two people are meant for each other, they will end up together. But now, we’re both busy. I don’t think I need to ask her about [Tyson] coz we’re not together and we are friends, so it wouldn’t be my place to ask. I can be jealous, siyempre, but I can’t tell her, ‘You didn’t tell me.’”
Is he giving Anne the space that she needs right now?
“Yeah, because we’re both working so hard now. Yeah, it’s like that.”
Is there a third party involved in their decision?
“There’s no one else,” stresses Sam.
But did he feel jealous when Anne had kissing scenes with her other leading men in Dyosa? Apart from Sam, Anne is also paired with Luis Manzano and Coverboys member Zanjoe Marudo.
“I’ve never been jealous about her kissing scenes, I never said anything,” he says.
TEAM-UP WITH BEA. Sam recalls that he entered the Pinoy Big Brother house in September 2005. In 2006, he first appeared on the big screen by being part of the John Lloyd Cruz-Bea Alonzo starrer Close to You. Sam, who was the third party in the 2006 movie, is now the love-team partner of Bea for the upcoming romantic drama that will be shown next year. How does he feel about being paired with Bea?
“It’s exciting. It’s always nice to work with someone you’ve worked with dati. You’re comfortable with each other, so you don’t have to get past that stage. That first movie was amazing and for me now, to be paired with Bea…she is an amazing, amazing actress.”
After this project with Bea, Sam will be paired in separate projects with Angel Locsin and Toni Gonzaga in 2009. How does he feel about working with the former Kapuso star?
“Siyempre, sa business na ito, walang sigurado hangga’t taping na. So you never know. But I think may balak with Angel and Toni. I haven’t been told about it but I just read about them in the news.”
For his third anniversary in showbiz, Sam will prove his worth as a singer when he performs for his first major solo concert titled Sam Milby: The Rockoustic Heartthrob on October 25 at the Aliw Theater.
