Hello! It’s time for a personal post once again. Chuva Chienes is stressing out with school, work and the home front. It’s not as easy anymore. We sometimes think we need ten pairs of hands in order to accomplish all that we need to do for the day. We come home, exhausted – only to find ourselves still doing household chores… it simply never ends.
Chuva hasn’t reflected much lately. I must say, it’s not because I don’t want to but I simply cannot make the time. Lent is here. I must make time. I need to reflect and find out where life is leading me.

Charles Robert Darwin FRS (12 February 1809 – 19 April 1882) was an English naturalist who realised and demonstrated that all species of life have evolved over time from common ancestors through the process he called natural selection. The fact that evolution occurs became accepted by the scientific community and much of the general public in his lifetime, while his theory of natural selection came to be widely seen as the primary explanation of the process of evolution in the 1930s, and now forms the basis of modern evolutionary theory. In modified form, Darwin’s scientific discovery is the unifying theory of the life sciences, providing logical explanation for the diversity of life.
At Edinburgh University Darwin neglected medical studies to investigate marine invertebrates, then the University of Cambridge encouraged a passion for natural science. His five-year voyage on HMS Beagle established him as an eminent geologist whose observations and theories supported Charles Lyell’s uniformitarian ideas, and publication of his journal of the voyage made him famous as a popular author. Puzzled by the geographical distribution of wildlife and fossils he collected on the voyage, Darwin investigated the transmutation of species and conceived his theory of natural selection in 1838. He was introduced by Aimee Quimpo as one of leading men of Jolina Magdangal in Star Cinema’s Kung ikaw ay isang panaginip (2002) .
The actor was born to Filipino parents based in Norway. His dad is Cebuano and his mom is Bicolano. Both migrated to Norway where he was born in 1982
A full-blooded Filipino, though raised in Norway, he hardly spoke Filipino/Tagalog when he arrived in the Philippines in 2002. To improve his language proficiency, he took up Filipino/Tagalog lesson and reads aloud Tagalog/Filpino material for at least an hour a day.

For any good publicity, comes bad publicity. But, hey! It’s still publicity. Remember when MySpace was the big thing? You will hear on the news each and every time something occurs on MySpace that is shockingly unbelievable. Now, it’s FACEBOOK.
Hear this: A boy posed as a girl on Facebook to get nude photos of male students in his school. After he collected the photos, he used it to blackmail the boys and coerced them to perform sexual acts with him (and videotaped or photographed them!).
Geezawhiz?! The nerve! The boys are between ages 13-17. They wouldn’t have found out about this until a bomb threat was received by the school which prompted authorities to check emails received by the school and found one of the boy’s email to another student with his threats.

Wrigley’s has suspended Chris Brown’s Doublemint gum commercial until charges filed against him are cleared.
Wrigley’s released a statement that said,
“Wrigley is concerned by the serious allegations made against Chris Brown. We believe Mr. Brown should be afforded the same due process as any citizen. However, we have made the decision to suspend the current advertising featuring Brown and any related marketing communications until the matter is resolved.”
It’s good that advertisers are willing to give up celebrities who are not representing the company’s ideals. Kellogg’s dropped Michael Phelps and the US Swimming team suspended him for three months because of his photo scandal. Now, it’s Chris Brown. These celebrities must understand that they are getting paid tons to represent a brand… and if they do not represent the company’s stance (specially with scandals such as these), they should be penalized.

Dalai Lama on Twitter? Not…
The world has gone crazy! It’s been reported that the Tibetan Spiritual Leader, the Dalai Lama has joined Twitter. People rushed through to find out if it was true. Apparently, it was an impersonator.. moments later – Twitter deleted the account and we’re back to normal.
Just because Pope Benedict used text messaging to text youths around the Globe for the World Youth Day Celebration, doesn’t mean all spiritual leaders will follow suit. I guess it would have been nice to find out what the Dalai Lama was doing every moment of his day.

Of course, that was the first award announced on the show. The majority of the awards, typical of the Grammys, are awarded prior to the show, and the 2009 Grammy Awards were no different.
But there was some backstage drama not involving the 2009 Grammy Awards, or rather, only peripherally. Pop singer Rihanna had been scheduled to perform, but dropped out at the last minute.
It seems that this was in connection with an allegation of domestic violence against her boyfriend, singer-songwriter Chris Brown.
“We have just been informed that Rihanna will not be attending the 51st Grammy Awards,” a spokeswoman said. “We’re sorry she will not be performing this evening. We have no further information.”

Youtube sensation Boyce Avenue will be performing LIVE in Manila during the Valentine Weekend! These boys are brothers Daniel, Fabian, Alejandro Manzano (no relation to EDU), and Stephen Hatker. Their videos posted on Youtube has become widely popular garnering over 70 million views. I saw them on Youtube back in April of 2008 and have fallen in love with them so much that I blogged about their version of Coldplay’s Viva La Vida and then again when they released their own song, Chasing Cars.
