As America and Arkansas watched, Conway native Kris Allen becomes Arkansas’ favorite son Thursday night on American Idol. “America voted and the person going through…your top 12 is Kris Allen,” American Idol Host, Ryan Seacrest said. UCA student, Kris Allen, got the votes he needed. Thursday night’s performance earned him a spot in the top twelve. But getting through wasn’t a sure thing. After his performance Thursday night, one judge gave him a tough time. However, Kris got the support of friends and students at UCA, as well as some church members…who literally votes thousands of times for him. Way to go Kris! Read more atarkansasmatters.com.
Kris Allen of Conway, Ark. auditioned for Season 8 of American Idol in Louisville, Ky. with “A Song For You” by Leon Russell. The newsboy cap-wearing 23-year-old business major headed to the audition with his brother, who wasn’t panel-approved, but Kris made his home state proud by making it to Hollywood.
He’s a University of Central Arkansas student who’s been singing since he was a child, but was still “weirded out by the whole [dol audition] experience”, surreal as it is. He was certainly excited though! Hopefully as the show continues, if Kris stays on, he’ll feel more comfortable so he’s able to continue impressing the judges. He made a great start in Hollywood as part of impressive group “White Chocolate” who performed The Jackson 5′s “I Want You Back”.
