Angel Locsin is ABS-CBN’s Primetime Queen
“ANGEL Locsin is back as primetime queen,” said Star Cinema’s advertising and promotions head Roxy Liquigan Thursday.
The official issued the statement while briefing the press regarding the much-awaited comedy movie in 2009 – Sharon Cuneta and Ai-Ai delas Alas’s movie “Best Friends Forever,” slated to hit theaters on May 13.
The small talk was veered towards Angel as Roxy discussed and expressed his wisdom over the existing and upcoming projects of ABS-CBN and Star Cinema this year.
“We are very happy that Angel is now back in primetime. ‘Only You’ is consistently earning high ratings since it started two weeks ago,” he said.
According to him, the primetime queen label best suits Angel as her TV series has marked as high as 65 percent in Mindanao and constantly securing the second spot on nationwide surveys next to “May Bukas Pa” based on TNS.
“Kuhang-kuha ng ‘Only You’ ang flavor ng masa,” Roxy excitedly said.
Among the primetime shows of ABS-CBN, “Only You” has the most number of commercials. “Full-load siya. Kahit nung pilot episode full load na meron pa nga hindi nakapasok. Only You talaga ang pinakamarami at constant high ang ratings niya,” said Roxy.
Even in “Lobo,” the first TV series of Angel after her transfer, Roxy held that they consider Angel as the queen of their primetime block.
This was not based in ratings only, but also the high sales of the “Lobo” DVD collection even until today.
“They are still reaping in terms of DVD sales all over the world. And people are not just buying the one that they failed to watch, like in some of our DVD collections, but rather they buy all the 12 volumes,” Liquigan said.
Star Cinema is drafting a movie for Angel and award-winning actor Aga Muchlach.
There are still no definite plans when to start the movie, but the ABS-CBN’s film arm is positive to do the film after Aga’s successful team-up with young stars like Anne Curtis and Angelika Panganiban.
