Charo Santos-Concio catches up with her former leading man Ramon Revilla Sr.

Nung namatay nanay ko hindi ako naiyak pero ngayon… Habang tumatanda pala lumalambot ang puso,” were the words former Senator Ramon Revilla Sr. uttered when he was moved to tears during his luncheon meeting with ABS-CBN President Charo Santos-Concio and the lead stars of Agimat, Ang Mga Alamat ni Ramon Revilla at his residence in Cavite yesterday, July 14. His son Senator Bong Revilla, his other children, and some of his relatives were also there to witness the emotional event.

Though the acting legend still suffers from a speech difficulty caused by a stroke he had almost a year ago, he managed to have a grand time reminiscing his heydays with his former leading lady (He and Charo starred in a movie which depicted the life of Governor Dominador Camerino of Cavite.) The veteran actor never thought that his movies would be remade into a TV series and it made him sad that he could no longer participate in the project even just for a special appearance.

“Oo, naiiyak siya kanina. Sabi ko, ‘Bakit ho kayo naiiyak? ‘Eh kasi nalulungkot ako. Gusto ko bata pa rin ako, sana kasama pa rin nila ako.’ Sabi ko, ‘Hindi ho dapat kayo malungkot. You should feel proud of all your achievements.’ Sabi niya, ‘Hindi, naiinggit yata ako.’ Sabi ko, ‘May agimat ho kayo. Ano ba yung agimat ni’yo?’ Tapos nagbiruan with Senator Bong. ‘I think the agimat of charisma,” he answered. I think that’s what he passed on to Senator Bong eh,” Charo cheerfully related.

Despite her busy schedule, she made it a point to be there to see Ramon who happens to be a good friend of hers and to show her support for the new Kapamilya television idols. “Ay naku, kasi binulong ni Andeng, one of the daughters of the Senator. ‘Sana naman si Ms. Charo will drop by kasi nakasama ko siya sa pelikula.’ Eh ako naman [madaling kausap]. This is also a great opportunity for me to talk to him. He was my leading man before. And I also wanted to be with my young stars,” she explained.

And the elder Revilla was visibly happy with the visit. “I was in awe kasi nga parang hindi siya tumatanda. Alam mo, ang ganda ng kanyang memories of the past. It was very nostalgic for him because it brought back memories when he started as a young actor in Sampaguita at the age of 22. So nakikita niya yung sarili niya kina Jake (Cuenca), Gerald (Anderson), Coco (Martin), at siyempre sa apo niya (Jolo Revilla). Sabi niya, ‘Ganyan din ako noon, batang-bata din nung nagsimula,” Charo further shared. The network bigwig has high hopes that the four boys would do justice to their roles.

“Naku, if I were one of them I’d feel very very honored. This is a great opportunity and they are so blessed to have been chosen to portray the true-to-life stories that were once portrayed by former Senator Ramon Revilla. So ako, sana pag-igihan nila, get into the character. I’m sure each one of them has something new to offer kasi siyempre iba naman si Jake, iba si Gerald, iba si Coco, at si Jolo,” she stated.
