The news about Cory Aquino’s failing health is sad indeed. She is suffering from colon cancer and has been hospitalized since June 25th due to continued loss of appetite caused by fluid buildup in her stomach. She’s the woman who re-introduced democracy back to our country after her husband, Ninoy Aquino was assassinated at the airport tarmac in Manila in 1983. She stood up and took the bull by the horns and ended the 20-some year rule of Ferdinand Marcos. Through non-violent rallies and protests, Filipinos gained back their country’s democracy through “People Power”.
There have been rumors via text messages on Friday, Manila time that the former President has died. Those are all rumors and has been denied by the people close to her. The British Embassy issued an apology after offering their condolences prematurely.
I am joining Reyna Elena and Barrio Siete along with other bloggers in asking bloggers to tie a yellow ribbon for Cory Aquino. am saddened by the news as well and would like to follow suit. AGB Mega Manila TV Ratings (July 21-23): Primetime race still wide open

ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida trio of May Bukas Pa, Tayong Dalawa, and Only You occupied the top three spots in the primetime race last night, July 23. This is based on the latest overnight ratings of AGB Nielsen Philippines among Mega Manila households.
The inspirational drama May Bukas Pa was in first place with 32.8 percent, followed closely by Tayong Dalawa (32.6 percent) and Only You (31.2 percent).
GMA-7′s action-fantaserye Zorro came in fourth place with 31.1 percent. This was followed by fellow Kapuso shows Rosalinda (28.9 percent), Adik Sa ‘Yo (27.6 percent), and 24 Oras (27.4 percent).
Completing the Top 10 are ABS-CBN’s TV Patrol World (23.3 percent) and The Wedding (19.7 percent), and GMA-7′s Cruel Love (18.4 percent).
The Primetime Bida trio of ABS-CBN also did very well on the other nights, consistently making it to the Top 5 slots.
TNS National TV Ratings (June 21-23): Primetime Bida of ABS-CBN continues to shine

The Primetime Bida lineup of ABS-CBN continues to dominate the primetime race. Based on the latest overnight ratings of Taylor Nelson Sofres (TNS) among national households, the Kapamilya network still occupies the upper half of the Top 10.
May Bukas Pa banners the Kapamilya network’s campaign by consistently holding the No. 1 position, while Only You and Tayong Dalawa battle it out for the second and third places.
TV Patrol World and Boys Over Flowers claim the fourth and fifth spots, respectively.
Zorro, on the other hand, is the most-watched Kapuso primetime show, followed by Rosalinda, 24 Oras, and Adik Sa ‘Yo.
Another ABS-CBN program, The Wedding, occupies the remaining slot.
ABS-CBN’s noontime show Wowowee is still the No. 1 daytime program, with Kambal Sa Uma close on its heels.
Precious Hearts Romances Presents Bud Brothers of ABS-CBN and Eat Bulaga! of GMA-7 are in a tight race for third and fourth place.

Sexy actor Paolo Rivero agrees to do frontal nudity for the first time in Bayaw
Kainitan ng Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival sa Cultural Center of the Philippines nang mai-premiere doon kamakailan ang Bayaw, isang kakaibang gay film na nagtatampok kina Paolo Rivero, Janvier Daily, at Andrew Miguel.
Ayon sa ilang nakapanood ng Bayaw, mukhang si Paolo ang nagdala ng pelikula. Halata raw na pinaghandaan ng aktor ang role niya rito bilang isang psychologically disturbed cop na nagkaroon ng homosexual involvement sa kanyang bayaw portrayed by Janvier.
Lately, nalilinya sa gay roles si Paolo. Mukhang nag-e-enjoy siya rito at natsa-challenge kaya tinatanggap niya.
“Being gay in the movies is the most challenging role,” pagsang-ayon ni Paolo nang makapanayam siya. “Next na doon yung psychotic. Kapag lalaki ka talaga, ang hirap gumanap ng gay, kung paano mo makukumbinsi ang mga manonood. Iba-iba rin ang klase ng bading.
Obama’s Against Police Remarks about Gates’ Arrest Angers Cops

The news is all over the remarks made by Pres. Obama when he was asked about the situation last night after his press conference on Health Care Reform. He stated that he believes that the police “acted stupidly” by arresting Henry Louis Gates Jr. after Gates presented proof that the house he forced himself into was his own.
Gates, one of the nation’s top black scholar allegedly returned from a trip from China, realized that his home’s door was “jammed” and needed some force in order for him to get in. He apparently asked his driver to assist him to force open the door.
Some woman called the police thinking that it was a break-in.
Sgt. James Crowley, an officer with an outstanding record of service, the police who made the arrest had a different story. He said that Gates was unruly and was uncooperative, accused Sgt. Crowley of racial bias and even commenting something about his mother. He charged Gates with disorderly conduct. The charges has since been dropped on Tuesday.
Henry Louis Gates Jr. is still requesting for an apology.
In a situation such as this one, no one can really comment effectively on the situation unless you were present at the scene. Sgt. Crowley could have been right. If someone (regardless of race or color) is unruly and disorderly, law enforcement officers are given the power to arrest them. Yet, if it was simply a case of miscommunication and Mr. Gates was approached or asked for his identification by the officer in a way that is demeaning, it could result in such a way that the person being asked would be annoyed and defensive with his response as well.

So You Think You Can Dance Breast Cancer Segment VIDEO
It’s all over Facebook, all over Twitter, and probably being emailed to anyone and everyone who hasn’t heard of the portion of So You Think You Can Dance last night. Ellen Degeneres was a guest as part of the panel on the show and when this portion was rendered (Maxwell’s and Kate Bush’s song – “This Woman’s Work” ) and dedicated to Breast Cancer Survivors, there were no dry eyes in the studio.
The choreography was done by Tyce “Keith” DiOrio who was nominated for the Emmy in 2007. This choreography may be nominated as well.
I’m sure that many of you have encountered or know someone who has either gone through the disease and a survivor, or someone unfortunate who succumbed to breast cancer. The performance was so moving that YOU HAVE TO SEE IT!

Vilma Santos on her rift with Alfie Lorenzo: ‘It’s just a matter of miscommunication’
The grand press conference for Vilma Santos: A Woman for All Seasons could have lasted a whole day given all the interesting anecdotes that the Batangas Governor shared about her five-part TV special on ABS-CBN starting this August. But one of the hottest revelations at the press con held on July 22 was about her rift with Alfie Lorenzo.
Apparently, the two haven’t been on speaking terms ever since Vilma supposedly failed to meet up with him in New York while she was shooting the movie In My Life last summer. The controversial talent manager wrote at least two angry blog posts about Vilma having forgotten their friendship (plus loads of shocking allegations) which, he claimed, dates all the way back to the ‘70s.
Despite the malicious remarks in the articles, Vilma kept her silence on the issue, stating that she and Alfie would surely mend their differences when the right time comes. “Hindi, si Alfie, aminin naman natin…nung bata ako kasama ko naman ‘yan, sa totoo lang. It’s just a matter of miscommunication.”
They were both staying at the same pricey hotel in the States, but Alfie was reportedly hurt that she didn’t even spare him some time for old times’ sake. But Vilma was quick to explain that she barely had time to bond with even her own family during that whole trip.

We all know Valerie Bertinelli. Well, I don’t know about ALL because she was more famous during the late 80s, early 90s. She used to be married to rocker Eddie Van Halen and have dated Steven Speilberg in the past.
Now, at 49 years old – she made the cover of People Magazine back in March of 2009 when she lost 50 whopping pounds through Jenny Craig. Jenny Craig is a weight-loss program where you eat pre-set meals that are tailored to your weight-loss goal.
Valerie has been an inspiration to many, including PinkBiik – a blogger who is currently on a diet and looking up to the 80s sitcom star (One Day at a Time) for guidance and inspiration.
People.com recently reported how Valerie maintains her weight most recently joining a half-marathon. Good news for her followers (specially on the diet path). She mentions:
“I am in amazement,” the actress said after the race. “I can’t believe what a body can do if you believe in it.”

Handsome Hoboken, NJ Mayor Peter Cammarano Arrested
This is what authorities should do to corrupt government officials in the Philippines. Anyone found to be corrupt must be arrested. I mean, this guy hasn’t been in office for a month. He took office July 1st from what I understand. It’s only July 24th and he gets arrested for alleged corruption. Bribery… the oldest crime in politics. Holy cow!!
Peter Cammarano, a handsome, young (only 32-years old) and new mayor for Hoboken, NJ has been arrested for allegedly taking a bribe from an undercover FBI informant.
Cammarano allegedly took a bribe in return for giving priority to an undercover FBI informant posing as a real estate developer.
According to NJ.com, this was a 2-year investigation on corruption. They finally made their move. A complaint was filed against Cammarano and here are excerpts from the complaint.
Defendant Cammarano explained that “[i]t can go on the agenda just as soon as there’s a sponsor for it . . . That happens like that.”
The CW inquired, “So, if you sponsor it, boom?”
Defendant Cammarano replied, “Yeah.”
When the CW stated “make sure you get my stuff expedited,” defendant Cammarano assured the CW that “I promise you . . . you’re gonna be, you’re gonna be treated like a friend.”
So sad. He had a very promising future in Politics. Why risk it all for $10,000 dollars?
Our high school principal once told us, “If whatever it is that you think you will be stealing won’t make you a millionaire, don’t steal it!”

I don’t know why I think this but I had the hots for T.R. Knight more than McDreamy. He was my favorite character as George O’ Malley. He seemed to have that honest and good character in him.
Then, the scandal broke about Isaiah Washington calling him names while having an argument with Patrick Dempsey. Suddenly he became a household name. Being outed in that way seems improper but things do happen for a reason.
Now that he has decided to leave the top-rated Grey’s Anatomy, he speaks out about his experience.
Knight knows he’s taking a risk walking away from his top 10 show and $14 million contract. “From an outsider’s perspective, I get the [impression that] ‘He’s just a spoiled actor…he doesn’t know how good he has it,’” he says. “There are a lot of people who would like to be in my position. But in the end, I need to be fulfilled in my work.”
I sure am going to miss him but like every one of us, we know when it’s time to go. There’s just more to life than being miserable every day going to a job, and not enjoying what you do or have lost passion in what you do.

Chris Daughtry’s “Leave This Town” goes #1 – Billboard Charts

EW.com reports that after three weeks of ” Michael Jackson’s Number Ones” album being the biggest-selling album in the country. However, they reported that it has been disqualified from the Billboard 200 chart because of how old the album is.
Somehow, there is an artist who will change that. EW.com reports that it is no other than, Chris Daughtry!
The answer is Daughtry, whose Leave This Town bows atop the chart with a very nice 269,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The American Idol contestant has sold a bit less than his first album, which sold 304,000 when it hit the stores then.
Yet, it is still a big week for Daughtry simply knowing that his album has done it in this time frame.
Additionally, we are told not to worry because although it’s a slower week for Michael Jackson’s Number Ones, it still sold 192,000 copies this week alone.

AGB Total Urban Luzon TV Ratings (July 5-11): May Bukas Pa regains leadership
ABS-CBN’s inspirational drama May Bukas Pa regained leadership in the July 5 to 11 survey of AGB Nielsen Philippines among Total Urban Luzon households. May Bukas Pa had an average household rating of 30.2 percent, followed by GMA-7′s action series Zorro with 28.9 percent.
Former No. 1 Tayong Dalawa (ABS-CBN) slipped to third place with 28.7 percent. Kapuso network’s primetime newscast 24 Oras and Kapamilya network’s romantic-comedy series Only You came in fourth and fifth with 28.2 percent and 27.8 percent, respectively.
Rosalinda, the new GMA-7 soap starring Carla Abellana and Geoff Eigenmann, entered the race at seventh place with 26.4 percent, behind TV Patrol World’s 26.6 percent.
Completing the Top 10 are Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (25 percent), Eat Bulaga! (23.8 percent), and Rated K (23.5 percent).
Re-entering the winners’ circle are Are You The Next Big Star? (No. 17) and Pinoy Records (No. 25).
Meanwhile, the following programs improved their rankings from the previous week: Bitoy’s Funniest Videos (from No. 19 to No. 11), Boys Over Flowers (No. 17 to No. 11), Maalaala Mo Kaya (No. 15 to 13), The Singing Bee (No. 24 to No. 16), All My Life (No. 21 to No. 19), and Wowowee (No. 28 to No. 22).

According to Pagesix, Billy Joel, 60 was quick to date after his recent split with Katie Lee Joel. The girl? Alex Donnelley, a former “The Young and the Restless” actress. The German-born actress was married to Robert Lamm, founding member of the rock band Chicago.
According to the New York Post, the two met in Washington D.C. after one of Joel’s concerts and have hit it off ever since.
The two have been spotted together and reports say that Alex visits Billy Joel’s home in Sag Harbor quite frequently, boating and riding the motorcycle together. Awwwww… how sweet.

Steelers Ben Roethlisberger under suit for Sexual Assault
A civil lawsuit was filed against Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers Quarterback for sexual assault. According to TMZ.com, Andrea McNulty is the plaintiff and have accused Ben Roethlisberger to have lured her to his room and assaulted her.
Andrea McNulty is an employee at Harrah’s Casino in Lake Tahoe. Some other reports say that she was asked to fix his television in his room and when she got there, she was sexually assaulted.
The Steelers Quarterback denies her claims and there are questions whether there were criminal complaints filed against him because this incident would have been filed. Ben’s lawyers have denied her claim as well stating:
“The timing of the lawsuit and the absence of a criminal complaint and a criminal investigation are the most compelling evidence of the absence of any criminal conduct,” Cornwell said. “If an investigation is commenced, Ben will cooperate fully and Ben will be fully exonerated.”
It’s unknown at this point whether McNulty ever has attempted to file criminal charges as a result of the incident, which allegedly occurred in July 2008.
“Ben will not be baited into a public discussion about his personal life, but we will defend
him vigorously,” Cornwell said. “The limited value that Ms. McNulty derived from public disclosure of these viciously false allegations is the only value she will ever receive from Ben in this case.”
