Ever since Coco Martin made his television debut on Tayong Dalawa, the indie film star not only gained more mainstream fans, but also earned the attention of showbiz icons, including award-winning actress-turned-Batangas Governor Vilma Santos. As previously reported on ABS-CBN.com, a special tribute for the Star For All Seasons is underway and Coco was chosen to take part in the documentary that would relive some of her most unforgettable movies. He and Nikki Gil were asked to re-enact a scene from Ishmael Bernal’s Broken Marriage last week at the Dolphy Theatre inside the ABS-CBN compound.

Rosalinda leads in its timeslot, based on AGB data
GMA-7′s newest primetime drama series, Rosalinda, has caught the attention of viewers during its pilot week. For its pilot episode last July 6, the primetime show landed on sixth place but it quickly jumped to third place on its second day.
Based on overnight data from AGB Nielsen Media Philippines, Rosalinda posted an average rating of 28.7%, two rating points higher than its rival program’s 26.5% from July 6 to 10.
Viewers are now hooked on Rosalinda’s story topbilled by the blossoming loveteam of Carla Abellana and Geoff Eigenmann, who play Rosalinda and Fernando Jose, respectively.
Even the program’s special re-run last Sunday night dubbed, Rosalinda: First Week, First Love, posted an impressive overnight rating of 20.3%. And last Thursday, Rosalinda got its highest overnight rating of 31.9%.
Rosalinda is Carla’s first project on television. Her stunning beauty has been a refreshing addition to primetime viewing. This week, the budding romance between Rosalinda and Fernando Jose continues. Will Rosalinda’s scheming sister Fedra (Katrina Halili) be able to steal the wealthy Fernando Jose from her sister? And how can Valeria (Sheryl Cruz), Fernando Jose’s mother, convince her son that the poor florist is not meant for him?

Last Sunday in ASAP ’09, some people noticed that Sarah Geronimo was snubbing John Lloyd Cruz while they were hosting one of the show’s segments together. In a showbiz news report, the actress-singer allegedly acted so cold that she couldn’t even look straight at her former onscreen partner.
However, at the press conference of her new endorsement with John Lloyd, Lucky Me Pancit Canton, held yesterday, July 15, Sarah quickly clarified that it was part of her personality to feel awkward with a person whom she has not seen for a while.

John Lloyd Cruz is grateful that his team-up with Sarah Geronimo is still a hit even if they don’t have a movie together anymore.
In an interview, John Lloyd wished that their fans would continue to support them.
“Sana nga magtuluy-tuloy kasi tapos na ‘yong film,” John Lloyd said in an interview after the press conference of his new endorsement with the Pop Princess, Lucky Me Pancit Canton, held yesterday, July 14, at the Ascott Hotel in Makati City.
The young actor said that having a TV ad with Sarah is proof enough of their successful team-up.

Piolo Pascual is broadening his horizons with Manila, an independent movie he starred in and co-produced. At the press conference for the film, Piolo explained that the reason he agreed to try out producing films is to have a better understanding of the industry. “Meron pa akong ipo-produce, album ko naman, ha ha ha! Gusto ko rin kasing maging mas hands-on sa mga ginagawa ko so if there’s any opportunity for me to be a part of the production team I will grab it. Hindi naman sa nababato na ako sa trabaho but gusto ko lang i-explore ‘yung iba pang bagay na pwede ko pang matutunan para naman lumawak ‘yung kaalaman ko sa industriya at ma-boost pa ‘yung confidence ko as an artist.”

Agimat, Ang Mga Alamat ni Ramon Revilla is finally underway as the cast of Hulihin Si Tiagong Akyat met for a story conference last Saturday, July 11, at the ABS-CBN compound. Lead star Gerald Anderson was very happy to finally learn who his two leading ladies were going to be, but the public has to wait until the series debut to learn who they are. Other members of the cast include Jason Abalos, Ryan Eigenmann, Jayson Gainza, Danilo Barrios, Joseph Bitangcol, Carlo Guevara, Arron Villaflor, Jason Abalos, Nova Villa, and Daniel Fernando.
After the story conference, Gerald went to an immersion for his role together with his co-stars Arron and Carlo. ABS-CBN.com got the first glimpse of Gerald undergoing Parcour or the art of movement, which requires him to move effortlessly from one place to another. Part of the exercise was to climb walls and jump through barricades like a real stunt man. Gerald managed to quickly learn this martial art, thanks to the training he did for Tayong Dalawa.
The pressure is on for Gerald as the movie Hulihin si Tiagong Akyat was not just a box office hit, but it also won for Ramon Sr. a FAMAS Best Actor Award in 1973. But with the praise he has been earning for playing David Garcia Jr. in Tayong Dalawa, many people believe that Gerald can do justice to the role.

Maybe it’s a curse. Every summer, I meet one cool guy. Last year, I met JOSHKO and we had a blast. I had a great time with him, subtle conversations, flirting here and there but that was about it. Potter’s ‘Prince’ sets midnight record according to Warner Bros.
Earning 22.2 Million Dollars on its midnight showings, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince broke the record of Dark Knight which earned 18 Million Dollars on its midnight showing. On third is Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen at 16 million.

It’s not a hype – Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Delivers

I haven’t seen the movie yet and although I hear that fans of the Harry Potter Series camped out in London for the Premiere, in the rain to watch the latest addition to the series, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince! Nothing to fear because I’m sure that their wait was worth it.
According to one famous blogger, even the Vatican gave the film a two-thumbs up! How about that?
It’s the age-old battle between Good and Evil. J.K. Rowling really knows how to spice up her series and from what I’ve already heard, no one will be disappointed. The delayed showing of the film (it was supposedly scheduled for release late last year) gave more time for fans to get excited (and probably frustrated at the same time) and anticipate this latest addition to the series.

Here’s a viral video posted by a band with a song about United Airlines when they damaged his guitar from one of their trips. After many attempts to contact the airline, United has repeatedly refused to compensate him.
The band thought about a clever idea! Use “social media” giant Youtube, to show the world that Corporations cannot ignore us little people anymore. The video has gone viral and have received over 2,000,000 views – approaching 3,000,000 with over 14,000 comments and 22,000 ratings.
The story has been picked up by huge TV networks like NPR, CNN and CBS.

Kasalukuyan pa rin sinu-shoot ang pelikulang Kimmy Dora: Kambal sa Kiyeme na pinagbibidahan ng isa sa kinikilalang mahusay na aktres sa bansa sa ngayon na si Eugene Domingo.
Hindi maikakaila ang screen presence ni Uge (palayaw ni Eugene) pagdating sa pagpapatawa sa mga manonood. Sometimes, she can even steal the scene from the lead stars just by being the “real talent” that she is.
Sa katunayan, ilang beses na siyang nanalo bilang Best Supporting Actress, kabilang na rito ang pelikulang Bahay Kubo (2007) saka 100 (2008).
Finally, mapapanood na nga si Uge on her first starring role, at hindi lamang yan, dual role pa ang kanyang gagampanan sa naturang comedy film. Si Dingdong ay may mataas na posisyon rin sa korporasyon ng Go Dong Hae at kinai-inlaban ni Kimmy. But the irony of it, instead na kay Kimmy ma-in-love, Dingdong’s character actually fell for Kimmy’s twin, Dora.
Bukod sa kanilang tatlo, kasama rin sa movie si Zanjoe Marudo na magkakaroon din ng romantic involvement sa pinaka-mayamang kambal sa bansa.

After giving KC Concepcion a five-year supply of expensive perfume, Piolo Pascual still has lots of gifts in mind for his Lovers in Paris leading lady. At the press conference of his film Manila, Piolo said that he would love to produce an independent movie starring KC, an idea which the actress-model is open to. “Gusto niya. Naikwento niya sa mga pag-uusap namin sa set ng Lovers in Paris. She’s open. Pero siguro hindi na love story. Nagagawa na namin ‘yan sa TV and commercial films eh. Maybe something different, something similar to Manila. ‘Yung hindi usual na nakikita ng tao.”
However, Piolo remained mum on the real status of his relationship with KC. Although the actor had revealed his intentions of courting the daughter of Sharon Cuneta, Piolo does not want people speculating that it is just a publicity stunt for their upcoming teleserye. “It will be better if I answer those questions after the show is done. It’s very cliché na kasi to say na, ‘We are just friends’ or ‘Yes we are dating.’ People will always have different opinion so I’d rather not dwell on the issue. Charo Santos-Concio catches up with her former leading man Ramon Revilla Sr.
“Nung namatay nanay ko hindi ako naiyak pero ngayon… Habang tumatanda pala lumalambot ang puso,” were the words former Senator Ramon Revilla Sr. uttered when he was moved to tears during his luncheon meeting with ABS-CBN President Charo Santos-Concio and the lead stars of Agimat, Ang Mga Alamat ni Ramon Revilla at his residence in Cavite yesterday, July 14. His son Senator Bong Revilla, his other children, and some of his relatives were also there to witness the emotional event.
Though the acting legend still suffers from a speech difficulty caused by a stroke he had almost a year ago, he managed to have a grand time reminiscing his heydays with his former leading lady (He and Charo starred in a movie which depicted the life of Governor Dominador Camerino of Cavite.) The veteran actor never thought that his movies would be remade into a TV series and it made him sad that he could no longer participate in the project even just for a special appearance.

Nang kamustahin nga ng SNN ang nasabing pagbabakasyon niya, ito ang naging tugon niya: ‘Okay ang bakasyon, refreshing pero di gaanong refreshing…Di naman lingid sa kaalaman ng lahat na wala pa ako dito e pinagpyepyestahan na ang mga pictures na binibigyan nila ng kulay.’ Ngunit ayon na nga rin sa kanya, kahit pa inasahan na niya ang pambabato ng mga ganitong uri ng intriga paglapag na paglapag pa lamang niya sa bansa, hindi naman raw siya kailan man natatakot na humarap sa publiko dahil mayroon naman raw karampatang paliwanag ang lahat ng mga isyu na maaari nilang ibato sa kanya.
Vilma Santos believes Claudine Barretto could follow in her footsteps

ABS-CBN is gearing up for its special tribute to Vilma Santos which is scheduled to air in August. Last Friday, July 10, the Star for All Seasons and Batangas Governor sat with Director Laurice Guillen for an open forum with aspiring actors and filmmakers regarding her experiences in the industry. Gracing the event was the Optimum Teleserye Queen Claudine Barretto who played Gov. Vilma’s rebellious daughter in the 2000 film Anak. “Ang anak ko sa Anak, na meron na ring anak, ha ha ha!” she joked as she welcomed Claudine on stage.
Claudine joined Gov. Vi and Direk Laurice and talked about the honor she felt for having worked with the three-time Grand Slam Best Actress. “Ang maka-trabaho si Ate Vi ay parang isang award na gustong-gustong makuha ng kahit na sinong artista. Sobrang laking achievement nun kapag nangyari sa ‘yo.” Claudine was teary-eyed as she paid tribute to Gov. Vilma. “Masasabi ko with all kayabangan, I am very blessed to have worked with ‘The Star for All Seasons.’”
All throughout the event, Gov. Vilma stressed to guests, especially the new artists of Star Magic, that her status in the showbiz industry is not something that she achieved overnight. “Kung ano man ang narating ko ngayon, it’s all blood, sweat, and tears. Kaya kayong mga new breed of actors, kung ano man ang pinagdadaanan niyo ngayon, galingan niyo.”
The premiere actress admitted that she has her own acting idols. She named the likes of Meryll Streep, Lolita Rodriguez, Nora Aunor, and Gina Alajar. Gov. Vilma also commended Claudine for her versatility as an actress. “Claudine is a very flexible actress. Pwede siyang gumanap na kaaawaan mo siya. Pwede ring sexy and very believable. In any roles na ginagawa mo ibinibigay mo lahat and you’re very believable. Kaya mo lahat gawin, believe me. Drama, sexy, action, comedy, you can do it. For that I commend you.”
For Claudine’s exceptional talent, the Gov. Vi said she will not be surprised if Claudine becomes the next Star for All Seasons. “When we did Anak, sa mga promo for the movie, tinanong ako kung nakikita ko ba si Claudine na pwedeng maging next Vilma Santos, ang sagot ko, ‘Of course!’ You have a long way to go,” said Vilma to Claudine who became teary-eyed because of the compliment.

My new hobby – - Photography?
It has been a while since I picked up anything and stuck with it. I did pick up blogging and yes, I did stick with it but that’s another story. I have been so busy with my life and you always hear me complain how time is very scarce for me to do anything else other than school and work, school and work.
Most recently, I picked up something. It’s by chance because due to this economic crap going on, one of the good camera stores around my area had to close up shop. At that time, my maid who is a well-known traveler called me and said, “HOY MURA ANG CAMERA! YUNG DATING $10,000 DOLLARS, DALAWA NA PISO!!!” Even though it wasn’t in my budget, I took a look a the camera online and tried to find if “DALAWA PISO” pricing is good enough. Sure enough, it was!
Kaya ipinangutang ko sa kapitbahay ko yung piso, at sabi ko – bahala na! This will be my first SLR ever. And besides, I will be using the money from Pepe and Pilar sa Pasay naman so I thought, what the heck.
So, here are my first test shots. I am playing with Aperture Priority and Speed Priority settings so be patient with me. I love vibrant colors and I thought these two pictures are good to start with. Besides, this camera is an entry level SLR for those of you who want to start getting serious about photography.

I was a bit shocked to find out that a very famous couple who has recently chosen to die due to severe health issues and cancer diagnosis.
They are not JUST an ordinary couple. His name was Sir Edward Downes (Knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1991),85 for his work as a conductor, conducting 950 performances of 49 operas at the Covent Garden venue. He was a noted interpreter of Verdi and Prokofiev. He also conducted at the London Opera House and Sydney Opera House. He was a conductor at BBC Philharmonic at the time of his death. She was Joan Downes, 74, and a choreographer and television producer.
According to the couple’s children, Sir Edward Downes was almost blind and deaf as well. His wife Joan, was diagnosed with cancer. The elected to commit assisted suicide in Switerland.
“They both lived life to the full and considered themselves to be extremely lucky to have lived such rewarding lives, both professionally and personally.“

Hail Ryan Reynolds! He is Green Lantern!

Read from a post at Just Jared dot com that hunky Ryan Reynolds just landed the part of Green Lantern – another DC Comics character who will come to life in the big screen.
Just Jared said that our Chuvahotness# 19 – Bradley Cooper and Justin Timberlake were in the running for the part but our beloved Ryan Reynolds got the part. WOOHOO!
With his hunky bod, I don’t think he needs to wear any prosthetic abs suit. He is well-built as he is.
Can’t wait for the film – which is said to start filming in January of ’10.
