Dingdong Dantes bares his “most private realities… deepest dreams… and darkest fantasies” in YES! Life Stories

Dingdong Dantes knows how to milk his cow. (Very good sense in taking his opportunities and running with them.) He’s reached heights not many have attained and continues to do so. His DVD deal, now a book deal and Bench endorsements – whoah! On top of that, he was chosen as number 3 on E!’s 25 Sexiest Men where David Beckham took the first place, and Michael Gurfi from Argentina took second place. Release the book while he’s hot – is the motto. And for sure, this book will probably sell like hotcakes.

“This book contains my most private realities, my deepest dreams, and my darkest fantasies,” writes Dingdong Dantes before issuing a severe warning: “If you’re not ready to handle my truth…then don’t turn the page.”

And so begins YES! magazine’s first “bookazine” featuring the country’s hottest matinee idol today—Jose Sixto Gonzales Dantes III.

DINGDONG IN HIS FRIENDS’ EYES. Setting off the maiden issue of YES! Life Stories, Dingdong reveals the story of his life in his own words.

“Kung hindi ako artista, I’m sure sundalo ako,” narrates Dingdong of his family’s tradition. “‘Yong mga brothers ng dad ko, nasa service din, sa linya talaga ng mga military men.”

Close friends describe him as “a reserved guy behind the camera,” who is often misunderstood as “suplado.” Yet Dingdong generously shares intimate details about his private and professional life.

Adding more voices to the bookazine are some of the closest people in Dingdong’s life who share their valuable insights.

Longtime manager Perry Lansigan reveals how his ward would sometimes stop the car while in the middle of traffic to devour street food commonly peddled on the road. “Ako pa nga ang maarte!” Perry exclaimed. “Ako pa ang nandidiri: ‘Ano ba ang mga kinakain mo, Dong?’”

Rumored girlfriend Marian Rivera, who co-starred with Dingdong in three Kapuso primetime series and one Regal movie, playfully says, “Magugulatin si Dong. Maghe-hello lang ako, magugulat na ‘yan!”

Without saying much about the real score of their off-cam relationship, Marian recalls an experience from way back:

“Noong patapos na ang MariMar… tapos noong nagpapaalam kami sa SOP… naiiyak talaga ako!” Doon ko naramdaman na, ‘Ay, mahalaga pala sa akin ang taong ito!’”

IMAGES OF INNER LIFE. There’s more to the juicy revelations and never-before-heard confessions. In vivid color are pages of artistic images taken by ace photographers Massimiliano Cori, Jay Tablante, and Lon Liwen—Dingdong enacts his dreams and fantasies!

Presented in four segments—Reality, Dreams, Fantasy, and Perception—the pictures capture Dingdong in various roles and scenarios as conceptualized by the upcoming Stairway To Heaven lead star himself.

Dingdong unleashes his perfect physique while basking on the ranch, assumes the role of a decorated soldier, and takes on the legendary Spartan warrior Leonidas. He portrays these characters with much gusto and with his usual intensity.

The image of Dingdong—arms outstretched on a wooden cross with blood gushing on the side—emulating Jesus Christ’s crucifixion is perhaps the most disturbing photo of the 29-year-old actor.

“Being a Leo, I have the tendency to become the dominant alpha male,” Dingdong says in a moment of reflection. “However, there are times that I can become the opposite… I can go the other extreme. I always strive to achieve that balance. For me, everything I do, I put my heart into. It’s never half-baked.”

YES! editor-in-chief Jo-Ann Maglipon edited Dingdong’s bookazine, Andrew Paredes wrote the stories, and Nat Clave served as art director.

YES! Life Stories: Dingdong will be launched on August 25.

Who won the Poll? ABS-CBN or GMA; TNS or AGB

agb_vs_tns

I receive many comments here at Chuva Chienes dot com every time the TNS and AGB ratings are posted. AGB has contrasting results with TNS when it comes to which network and which shows are really strong in the ratings.

The arrival of TNS was very refreshing to many because they can see the differences in the reports unlike before where they can only rely on what AGB Nielsen puts out with reference to TV ratings.

So, I decided to take a poll for one month to see what the public perception is regarding these rating systems. I specifically asked the readers to rate the TV Rating companies (AGB and TNS) according to which one they believe is more credible. The response was overwhelming with obvious support by the media advertisers as well according to comments left here.

TNS won (50%) the poll as more credible than AGB Nielsen (37%). Given the results, comments that stars of ABS-CBN have more commercial endorsements than GMA stars dominate the subject to prove that indeed TNS is more credible.

ABS-CBN (64%) won the rating wars versus GMA (36%)  according to the poll as well.    This is only from the users view who voted on the poll.

If I look at the actual votes from Pollverize, this is what I saw:

abs-vs-gma

TNS won (50%) the poll  with a total of 405 votes as more credible than AGB Nielsen (36%) with 293 votes.  Not that much of a gap but clearly, readers believe TNS more than AGB.

ABS-CBN (65%) with a total of 753 won the rating wars versus GMA (35%) getting 413 votes.  This has a bigger difference and therefore, we can clearly see the winner.

Although the results can be argued (i.e. Chuva Chienes dot com readers are primarily Kapamilya followers or polls are not accurate etc.), it is still clear that Kapamilya watchers support their network.   Even with the recent controversy of Willie Revillame, the votes changed a little but not much.

With the totals presented, Chuva Chienes dot com declare TNS as the most credible and ABS-CBN as the winner of the network wars.

More Offers for Levi Johnston to pose nude.

levi_johnston_jack_off

Wow! News travel fast these days. A few hours after we saw that Levi Johnston received an offer from Unzipped Magazine to pose nude (since Levi stated that “he will do it if the money is right”) comes another offer from Bait & Tackle – the Parent Company of StraightCollegemen dot com.

The offer is for him to show off in a video doing some “gentleman’s time” – 2 hours for $25,000.00. The official letter is posted at LeviNaked.com (Warning: NSFW site).

Who would have thought that he will get offers as soon as the word got out?

We will be hearing more of these soon I’m sure.

Surprise Guys – - Hunky Levi Johnston was offered to pose Nude by Unzipped Magazine

s-levi-johnston-large

Who would have thought that the ex-future-son-in-law of Sarah Palin would have a faithful gay following?  I, for one thought that he is very sexy the moment I laid eyes on him with the Palins during the campaign last year.

Levi Johnston has been making noise ever since the relationship between him and Bristol Palin soured.  He talked to the media about “alleged” reasons behind the reason why Sarah Palin quit the Governor position in Alaska, he posed shirtless for GQ with his son – and now, he’s seen saying that if the “money is right”, he would pose nude.

< --more-->

The revelation of Johnston having a strong gay following is no surprise to those who have seen his rugged everyman physique or been following popular culture. Gay blogger Andy Towle referred to him as a gay icon, while the popular website Gawker featured an entire article on Johnston’s gay fan base. However, when Johnston revealed on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live that he would pose nude if the money were right, the executives at Unzipped jumped.

The magazine made him an offer with an official letter:

“We’re thrilled by the opportunity of having Levi Johnston pose for Unzipped magazine,” says Rick Andreoli, Executive Editor for Unzipped Media. “The gay community’s outpouring of support and adoration for Levi Johnston has been loud and clear since he burst onto the political scene last fall. Now having learned of his desire to bare all for his fans and admirers, we’ve sent an official offer letter to his manager, Tank Jones, and eagerly await their response.”

All we have to do now is WAIT… ;)

AGB Mega Manila TV Ratings Aug. 14-17: Survivor Philippines: Palau debuts strongly

The second season of GMA-7′s reality show, Survivor Philippines: Palau, opened last night, August 17, with an impressive 30.8 percent rating to take the fifth spot in the primetime race.

This is based on the latest overnight ratings of AGB Nielsen Philippines among Mega Manila households.

Compared to the first season of Survivor Philippines, however, the second season’s pilot rating was slightly lower by one percent. The first season, which was launched on September 15, 2008, scored 31.8 percent and ranked No. 4.

Survivor Philippines: Palau is hosted by Paolo Bediones.

The Kapuso network’s fantaserye, Darna, retained its top position with 43.7 percent, followed by other GMA-7 shows 24 Oras (34.4 percent) and Rosalinda (33 percent; its highest rating so far), and ABS-CBN’s Tayong Dalawa (31.2 percent).

(When the first season of Survivor Philippines premiered last year, the No. 1 primetime show then was Dyesebel, starring Marian Rivera. The actress now plays Darna, the current leader in the ratings game.)

The rest of the Top 10 was occupied by: Adik Sa ‘Yo (29 percent), Only You (27 percent), TV Patrol World (23.7 percent), May Bukas Pa (23.4 percent), and All My Life (21.5 percent).

Meanwhile, Eat Bulaga! remains on top in the daytime race. The longest-running noontime show in the country posted a rating of 27.1 percent.

The docu-drama will be shown on August 21 at the Power Plant Mall. The story begins from the time Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, Jr. was in Boston Massachusetts until the time that he came home and was assassinated on August 21, 1983.

The film’s (“The Last Journey of Ninoy”) opening marks the 26th anniversary of his assassination as well.

Here’s a high definition teaser trailer video.

John Lloyd Cruz in homoerotic commercial

johnlloydcruz-luckymanzano

I think this is very clever marketing. With his upcoming gay-themed movie, this commercial has very good and has a very attractive taste for viewers. Many people are anticipating the John-Lloyd Cruz – - Luis Manzano team up on All My Life as gay lovers in New York City.

If American commercials can be successful in this type of marketing, why not Pinoys right? Honestly, marketing of products to the gay community is nothing new in the U.S. – - it’s been in existence because most companies know the power of the pink dollar.

I absolutely adore the commercial.

Tumawag si Phoebe [Anievas, executive producer ng show]. ‘Kuya, baka ma-preempt tayo, maggi-give way tayo.’ Sabi ko, ‘That’s good. Sige, mag-give way tayo.’ Tapos, biglang mamaya, ‘Kuya, okey lang na mag-tape tayo for tomorrow, which is Tuesday.’

ABS-CBN backs Willie Revillame; says Wowowee host did not violate Broadcast Code of the Philippines

ABS-CBN defended beleaguered Wowowee host Willie Revillame against growing public outrage caused by his outburst, seen and heard on national television last August 3, demanding the removal of the inset screen showing the funeral cortege of former President Corazon Aquino.

The live feed was shown in the middle of Wowowee‘s “Willie of Fortune” segment. Papano kami makapagsasaya, nahihirapan kami? I’m sorry ho, ha. Pero ako, totoo ako, e. ‘Wag n’yo akong pagagalitan… Pagkatapos ng show, ipakita n’yo ang gusto n’yong palabas. Kasi itong Wowowee, gusto ko, hindi ba—at alam din ni Tita Cory ‘yan dahil napasaya rin siya ng show na ito—na laging masaya dito, okey?”

Willie’s remark instantly irked various organizations, which accused the controversial host of disrespecting the memory of the fallen democracy icon. The Alyansa ng Filipinong Mamamahayag (AFIMA) commented: “He may have the right to demand it, but he never waited until the next commercial break to quietly do it. He expressed his angst against Corazon Aquino funeral being shown side by side his Wowowee right before the dumbstruck millions of Filipino viewers around the globe.” (Click here to read related story.)

The National Press Club (NPC) sided with the AFIMA in condemning Willie’s action and recommended that the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) take the necessary action against Willie.

MTRCB chair Consoliza Laguardia said in an interview that Willie violated Sec. 3 of Presidential Decree 1986, saying, “Yung personal kong tingin, objectionable yung ginawa ni Willie kasi puwede niyang ginawa yun offcam. He violated the Broadcast Code of Ethics of KBP [Kapisanan ng Brodkaster ng Pilipinas] and then sa part ng MTRCB, Sec. 3 of PD 1986 yung being objectionable and contrary to good customs and tradition.”

To add to Willie’s woes, an online petition spearheaded by a certain Roel Saguisag was also launched which intends to remove Revillame from Wowowee. The online appeal dubbed “Petition to Oust Willie Revillame” has reportedly garnered thousands of respondents, making it the “second most active petition” on cyberspace.

On the other side, there were comments coming from sectors of the public that saw nothing untoward about Willie’s actions. They were of the belief that, far from disrespecting the late President Cory Aquino, Willie was in fact right to question just how proper it was to have his entertainment game show running alongside the coverage of the funeral of a much-loved president. From their vantage point, Willie had simply wanted the station to decide whether it wanted his show or the funeral coverage to go up on the screen, but not both.

Johnny Manahan, Wowowee director, also gave an interview to PEP explaining the beginnings of the whole controversy. His explanation backed Willie’s stand that the latter’s actions were meant, in fact, to give the respect due the late president. (Click here to read related story.) It was simply unfortunate, Manahan conceded, that Willie decided to question the network’s call on the air and not behind the scenes, leading to a widespread misreading of his intentions.

Working even more to Willie’s favor, Kris Aquino, youngest child of Cory, took up the issue on SNN (Showbiz News Ngayon), where she backed the beleaguered host. Speaking on behalf of her family, Kris said that they were accepting the apology of Willie.

Nevertheless, Chairman Laguardia filed a formal complaint with the KBP against Willie last August 10. That same day, the KBP transmitted the MTRCB complaint to ABS-CBN, which replied to the KBP letter last Friday, August 14.

PEP obtained a copy of the ABS-CBN letter, signed by Ms. Socorro “Cory” Vidanes, a top network executive, and addressed to Ms. Diana Gozum, chairperson of the KBP Standards Authority. The letter was sent to PEP by an entertainment industry insider.

Here is the letter in its entirety:

Dear Ms. Gozum:

We write in reply to your letter dated 10 August 2009, requesting ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation to comment on the complaint of Movie and Television Review & Classification Board (MTRCB) Chairperson Ma. Consoliza P. Laguardia dated 10 August 2009, and an undated statement of Jerry Yap, President of the Alyansa ng Filipino Mamamahayag (AFIMA).

The said complaint and statement both refer to the 03 August 2009 episode of the television program Wowowee, wherein the funeral cortege of the late President Corazon C. Aquino was exhibited as an inset in portions of the said program. The MTRCB letter alleges that Mr. Revillame “appeared to arrogantly demand the removal of the inset screen showing the funeral cortege.” The Honorable MTRCB Chairperson then opined that the said act was “desecrating the dead” and, thus, “seems to be in violation of Article 20, Section 2, of the Broadcast Code of the Philippines.” On the other hand, the AFIMA statement states that “[f]or him to demand the removal of the little window screen showing the funeral march of the woman who got ABS-CBN back from Marcos is a blasphemy of democracy, an act despicable x x x.” It appears, therefore, that the complaint and statement are both based on the alleged disrespect by Mr. Revillame to the late former President Aquino.

It is ABS-CBN’s position that there was no disrespect of the dead by Mr. Revillame. When the funeral cortege of former President Aquino was shown as an inset during Wowowee, Mr. Revillame expressed his opinion of the inappropriateness of the simultaneous exhibition of both the funeral cortege and Wowowee, and his preference that only one or the other be shown.

In expressing his opinion and preference, though, Mr. Revillame did not show disrespect for former President Aquino. In fact, the contrary is true. In making his statements, Mr. Revillame wanted to give due respect to former President Aquino and her funeral cortege.

Indeed, in Filipino culture, customs, and tradition, ceremonies involving the dead are solemn and sober. Thus, the laughter, jokes, and happiness usually seen in a program like Wowowee would appear to be inappropriate when viewed together with the funeral cortege. On the one hand, the Filipino people are mourning the death of a loved and respected former President, and on the other hand, Wowowee is trying to entertain its audience.

It appears, therefore, that Mr. Revillame’s issue was with the inappropriateness of Wowowee and the funeral cortege being shown together, and not with the funeral cortege itself. While it may be argued that Mr. Revillame could have expressed his thoughts in a better way and that it would have been better to raise them privately, instead of the public manner in which he did, such was not disrespectful of the dead and does not constitute an offense under the KBP Broadcast Code of the Philippines.

We trust the foregoing comment satisfactorily establishes that there was no violation of the KBP Broadcast Code of the Philippines.

Very truly yours,

MA. SOCORRO V. VIDANES
Head, Channel 2

Coco Martin reveals he’d rather have a non-showbiz girlfriend

As one of the leads of Agimat: Mga Alamat ni Ramon Revilla installments, Coco Martin admits that the role of Tonyong Bayawak is something new to him. “Mahirap kasi hindi naman talaga ako marunong sa mga ganun (stunts), kasi nasanay ako sa sa indie (independent film), eh. Kung baga mas sanay ako sa natural lang na drama kaya siyempre kailangan pag-aralan at paghandaan yung show.”

With good reviews of his acting from his current teleserye, Tayong Dalawa, Coco is fast developing a large fan base. ABS-CBN.com couldn’t help but ask if this also helps in getting attention from the ladies. “Ngayon wala, ngayon ko lang nasasabi na pag ganito talaga trabaho mo madalas na walang time, kagaya ngayon, nagta-taping ako from Monday to Saturday, parang natutulog nalang ako sa kotse. Wala talaga.” But the actor admits to having a non-showbiz relationship which ended six months ago. “Non-showbiz yun. Nagkaroon ng problema, malayo kasi siya kasi nasa Canada siya, eh. Ngayon wala na kami communication.” When asked what brought the relationship to its closure, Coco says, “Kagaya lang ng ibang normal na relasyon. Hindi pagkakaunawaan. Pagod na, ganun.”

He admits that he would still prefer a non-showbiz girlfriend in the future. But right now, he is just preparing himself financially for his future family. “Ngayon nag-iipon ako, siyempre naghahanda para sa family. Kaya ako nagpapakapagod ng sobra sobra para kahit papaano may patunguhan mga ginagawa ko. Ang buhay ng artista hindi mo masasabi kung hanggang saan lang eh, kaya habang may trabaho ngayon, nagpupursige lang ako. Tsaka na ang mga happenings, marami pang ibang time para diyan, pero ngayon kailangan mag-focus.” Coco shares.

Willie Revillame: “Kung ayaw na ng tao sa ‘kin, what’s the use?”

willie_revillame-wowowillie

There are already hints or speculations that Willie Revillame may not return to Wowowee by saying, “Even if I have the support of the network and the advertisers, kung ayaw na ng tao sa akin, what’s the use?”

According to the article on Inquirer.net’s Showbiz and Style section,

MTRCB chief Marissa Laguardia said Revillame and ABS-CBN, which produces and airs “Wowowee,” were asked to present evidence in their defense against the charge of violating Section 3c of PD 1986, for “being objectionable and contrary to … customs and traditions paying respect to the dead.

A hearing is set for August 20.

Many of the comments received on the petition even here at Chuva Chienes dot com have already discounted Willie Revillame’s action on the now infamous August 3rd showing of Wowowee.  They have focused now on his ethics and his attitude when he is on the air and no longer on the particular event that happened during Tita Cory’s Funeral.

It has been clarified by many that the actions have repeatedly occurred and it’s time to stop.  Willie has gotten in trouble many times before.  The same article referenced another filing of a complaint by a certain Arlene de Guzman-Revillame against Willie Revillame.  She accused him of “psychological violence”.

Laguardia noted that another case has been filed against the TV host before the KBP. She said that, in a letter addressed to KBP president Herman Basbano, Arlene de Guzman-Ronquillo accused Revillame of “psychological violence” on account of some careless remarks

In October 2008, Ronquillo said, Revillame told a contestant: “May kaibigan ako gustong makipagkilala sa iyo … binata daw siya … si Raymond Ronquillo.” Raymond and Arlene are married, with children aged 12, 11 and 3.

willie_revillame_petition_totals

The petition is now OVER 52K and still counting.  Many comments have been made stating that the petition is not the representation of the Filipino people since most of the people who support Willie are the poor who either don’t have access and the know-hows to even go on the net.

Razor says:

Is Piolo Pascual nervous about his first teleserye with KC Concepcion?

kc_piolo

Piolo Pascual and KC Concepcion were amongst the early birds during the recently-concluded ABS-CBN trade launch at NBC Tent because they have to rehearse their own version of Lovers In Paris’ theme song which they performed for the first time later that night. Though they actually looked like the perfect couple onstage, Piolo confessed to ABS-CBN.com that it was still a nerve-wracking experience because people expected more from them because of their growing relationship off cam. “It’s hard because we work together. It would have been so much easier kung hindi kami magkatrabaho. But the thing is, magkasama kami sa trabaho. I thought it could have been an advantage but then again parang mas nakakatakot kasi ang daming mata ang nakatingin sa inyo palagi. Mas may pressure but we’re okay,” he began.

Some people couldn’t help but doubt the motive behind their closeness though because they have already seen that during KC’s previous team-up with Richard Gutierrez. Piolo was aware of similar speculations hence he decided to keep his personal intentions low-profile to avoid further intrigues. “Oo naman, nililigawan ko pa rin si Kristina, it hasn’t stopped. Siguro mas focused lang kami ngayon sa trabaho. So para hindi rin malito yung mga tao, ito muna ang makikita nila (KC and Piolo on cam). We’re working doubly hard para sa success ng show. Mahirap as it is, pero we try to be effective naman. On a personal level, whatever we share it’s really something, important, it’s something we treasure, and it’s something we try to nurture,” he stressed.

When asked if it’s true that there was a point when Lovers In Paris was to be removed from ABS-CBN’s program line-up this year because KC is not yet ready for a full-length soap, Piolo was quick to dismiss such rumors. Piolo further assured the viewers that the much-awaited Asianovela of the year would finally make its debut this September on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida. “Hindi pwedeng hindi matuloy ang project dahil ang laki na ng nagastos ng station (laughs). We shot in Paris for a month and we’ve been taping constantly. It’s just that ang gaganda ng pinanggagalingan naming shows kaya due to public demand, naeextend ng naeextend yung mga yun at kaya din hindi kami makapasok,” he replied.

For the first time in his career, the country’s ultimate heartthrob would be portraying a very stern character on TV and it would be interesting to see how he would compare with his Korean counterpart, Park Shin Yang (Carlo). KC, on the other hand, would bring to life the Pinay version of Kim Jun-Eung’s role (Vivian) who has captured many a Filipino’s hearts with her bubbly personality back when Lovers In Paris was tagalized in 2005. “It’s hard, I’m so restrained. Hindi siya typical na drama, awayan, or iyakan. Ito talaga I’m coming from the original Koreanovela na very stiff at strict yung character ni Carlo. You’ll also see KC in a different light since konti pa lang naman ang nilalabasan niyang projects. Makikita mo talaga dito yung versatility niya. Mate-test din dito yung chemistry naming dalawa kung mayroon man. So we’re excited. We’re also keeping our fingers crossed na maging successful yung first show namin together.”

Paolo Bediones promises a “bigger and better” Survivor Philippines: Palau

“I think when all of us, when we started the second season, we knew expectations will be high,” sagot ni Paolo. “And at the same time, we’re very happy that in the first season, we were able to prove that it was possible that we can make this successful… And with the ratings, and with the reception, and with the response of the people, nakita nating talaga namang karapat-dapat na may pangalawang season… We knew the expectation would be high, and just like the castaways, we take upon the challenge. Sobra akong excited sa season na ‘to because it’s bigger, better, and more exciting.”

THE NEW LOCATION.

Aniya, “Palau is one of the most favorite destinations of… Even Survivor CBS host Jeff Probst, he was asked what destination would you like to go back to for vacation, for work, he mentioned Palau. So we had several options ready, but we wanted a place that was nearby and yet the environment is unlike anything you see on TV.

“Yes, you see it on travel shows. But you see it on Survivor Philippines environment, it totally changes the look of Palau, the feel of Palau for us as a viewer. When we were there, sobrang inspiring yung tubig, the location and the challenges… It’s unbelievable! We cannot wait to see what it looks like on TV.

“Palau, we chose also because of its practicality. Mas malapit sa Pilipinas, 500 miles away lang. There were flights every other day to get to Palau. There were also the people we have worked with, yung mga tinatawag nating Palauans, the natives of the country. And we got the support of the president of Palau, Johnson Toribiong… Matindi ang suporta ng Palau sa Survivor Philippines. Lahat kami, naramdaman namin talaga na they wanted us to succeed. So they gave us the support that they could.

“We shot in an island called Peleliu, which is about south of Koror, where the plane lands. Peleliu is about an hour away from Koror, and we had to isolate ourselves para walang mga nagmi-miron. Again, to avoid possible leakages or any possible information that would be kept out unofficially.”

“The difficulties would be, I think we can trim it down to two,” sabi ng veteran TV host.

“The weather, because it would rain every single day—umaga, gabi, or hapon—and we had to do challenges. We would have Tribal Councils in the rain, we will have challenges in the rain. It will be difficult technically as well for us. In terms of the technicals, nag-improve kami—the audio, the video, the camera placements—because we are more familiar with how they should be put into place in the entire program.

“Nahirapan din kami kasi yung venue where we stayed in Peleliu, it’s a very small sleepy town of about, I don’t know, with a population of less than 700? Napakakonti, tapos dumating kami, we were about a hundred. So, we added, like, you know, eight percent of the population. And agad-agad, naramdaman namin yung hirap na kailangan naming mag-coaster or mag-van papunta sa location to the other. Kakakain lang kami, bibiyahe pa kami. Yung mga gano’n. But these are things that we are prepared for.

“I can say also mas nadalian kami because we knew our job, we knew what our goal was. And our goal was to make this bigger and better than the first season, to make it more exciting, and to secure a third one.”

THE NEW SET OF CASTAWAYS.

But we were surprised that 35,000 people pa rin auditioned nationwide. And given that situation, nung nakita namin yung quality of castaways, nahirapan kami definitely.

“We trimmed it down from 35,000 to about 81, and then trimmed it down further, further, until we came up with the 50. But that’s not without numerous debates, numerous meetings, arguing, kung sino dapat talaga.

“At the end of the day, ang pinakaimportante sa mga castaways is the mix. Individually, puwedeng okay ka, pero pag hinalo ka sa grupo, anong silbi mo? And each and every one of them as you watch in the few days, next few weeks and months of Survivor Philippines, they played a role. Maybe not a role that they knew they were gonna play, but eventually they fit into that particular role habang naglalaro sila.

“Nahirapan kami dahil napakaraming puwede. But we are very, very satisfied with the 16 na napili namin. And we can probably say, hindi kami nagkamali! So hopefully, in the third season, mas matindi ang quality ng mga castaways ang darating.”

Kapansin-pansin sa bagong batch ng castaways na halos lahat ay may hitsura at models. Ano ba ang naging criteria nila this season sa pagpili ng castaways?

“Surprisingly, not all of them are models, ha,” paglilinaw ni Paolo. “Some of them, this is the first time in the limelight, this is the first time na lalabas sila on television. Admittedly, there are some who dabbled in modeling, pero they didn’t really make a name for themselves. There are a couple of them who aspire to be models, but hindi sila sobrang pangalan na pangalan na modelo sila.

“These people were chosen… I know they look great, some of them really look hot and all that. But, take note, pinili namin sila primarily because of their personality. Nakita n’yo naman kanina, bawat isa sa kanila, very distinct ang personality nila, puwede kang mag-pick ng certain trait sa kanilang ulo, parang gano’n. Each and every one of them, you put them in a crowd of 20, alone, they will stand out. Bawat isa sa kanila, they came into the game with strategy in mind on how to play a game of Survivor—pautakan, pagalingan, patatagan… I’m very, very proud of them.

“Criteria-wise, personality ang una-unang basehan. At nagkataon na they all look good. And kami naman, parang, ‘Alright, so okay yung personality, pasok ‘yan, and you look good, kukunin ka na rin namin.’ But, and I have to stress this, each and every one of them went through the audition process. None of them auditioned by an email or what. We had to see them in person.

“They had to pass several tests. Psychological, to make sure na stable yung utak nila, to make sure na consistent ang behavior and they are not putting up a front, to make sure hindi sila psychotic, neurotic, or extremely violent.

“And then they had to pass a health test, to make sure na wala silang health illness, or any debilitating disease. They had to go through a screen test as well, para makita natin kung pleasant naman sila, not entirely good looking, pero pleasant to watch on television, since it’s a visual medium, ang TV.

“And then we also asked them to undergo a swim test, because there are challenges in the island of Palau which requires swimming. So kailangan, at least beginner to intermediate level na sila para pumasa.

“So it was an entire, probably a whole, month of auditions, not knowing kung tanggap sila o hindi. And in the end, we had the 16 castaways na nakita po ninyo. So the criteria, mas matindi ngayon actually. Mas naging strict kami kasi there are some castaways in the first season na we were hoping would play a particular role but didn’t. But with these 16 na napili po namin, each and every one of them, they may have played a different role than what we expected, but they didn’t make the game any less exciting.”

Pangako pa ni Paolo, “So, all the way till the end, I assure you, napaka-exciting, napaka-unpredictable ng season na ito!”

Is he satisfied with the 16 castaways?

“Extremely satisfied,” sagot ni Paolo. “It was very, very exciting to watch them play and strategize, to see what they were talking about and how they ended up voting out one another. Tribal Council would be very exciting and very unpredictable.”

Dagdag niya, “And I wish them luck in the next few days. I know Monday it starts. After it airs, their lives will never be the same. I’m so excited for them. I’m like a little dad or big kuya na gusto ko makita yung billboard. Gusto ko maramdaman yung excitement nila pag nakita nila yung mga mukha nila on television.

“They worked hard for it. And if they do end up succeeding in whatever field they choose after, they deserve it. I’m very proud of them and I’m very happy for them.”

“They all have a certain, I guess, stipend, or you call it per diem, or something like that. Na because they’re gone for several days, they had to quit their job and not tell their boss where they are going, we give them a certain something, more than enough to tide them over. But definitely, alam nila ‘yon. They know what they’re supposed to do, kung ano ang commitment nila. And kami, ang commitment namin, aalagaan namin sila. So, yes, they will receive a certain small cash stipend.”

PINOY-THEMED CHALLENGES. How challenging are the challenges this season? Totoo rin ba na binigyan sila ng free hand this time para gumawa ng sarili nilang challenges?

“Ang first season natin, many of it were challenges of the previous seasons of Survivor, either of the CBS [U.S.] version or anywhere else worldwide na approved by Castaway Productions. For the second season, we were given free rein, so the Challenge Team came up with various challenges na puwedeng humiram ng iba’t ibang konsepto from other challenges.

“Pero at the end of the day, makikita mo na yung theme niya is mostly Filipino. Kung hindi yung theme, maaaring yung reward. Kung hindi reward, maaaring dahilan kung bakit ito yung challenge.

“The reason for challenges is to create a certain tension between two tribes or between castaways, it’s to create that desperation. Kasi pag reward ‘yan, pagkain ‘yan, e. And trust me, they do not eat much on the island. They had coconuts, pero they don’t eat too many coconuts. They didn’t get to fish, I don’t know why, hindi sila nakapag-fishing. They were eating shellfish, mga halaan, mga ganun lang. And the reward, when it was food, they were going crazy. So, it was the first time I saw people go wild over food the way they did.

“I think yung mga challenges will be more exciting this season, more difficult even than the first. However, the first kasi makikita mo dun sa first [season], tribe versus tribe was very strong… For this one, from day one, it was an individual game and alliances did not last all the way to the end. So that is an indication how unpredictable yung laro natin. And how they played and understood na laro lang ito.”

How dangerous are the challenges?

“The challenges were, I wouldn’t say dangerous because we wanna make sure na buhay pa rin sila at the end of everything. But what made it dangerous was the environment that they were living in. The island that they were staying in was a place where snakes roam free, poisonous snakes, mga ganyan, may mga pagi o anuman sa may dagat o sa may surface. And each and every day is very hard for them.

“Yung challenges naman, very physical siya… So, mahirap, mahirap talaga siya. Hindi siya yung kayang-kaya lang ng ordinaryong tao. You have to be inspired with a chance to win three million [pesos] to do it. Kung wala kang inspiration o motivation na ganun, you’ll give up, hindi mo gagawin. And there are many times, there were a lot of them, they were wondering, ‘What are we doing? Tama ba ‘tong ginagawa ko?’ And there are times that they thought hindi nila magagawa yung challenge, and you just have to push them and remind them, three million, it could change your life. And so, that was enough.

“All castaways are covered by insurance. We made sure na bago pa man umalis ng Pilipinas, plantsado na lahat ng ‘yon. ”

“Watch and see. You cannot miss the first five days, you cannot. That will answer your question and it will make you stay tuned in the next few weeks,” nakakabiting sagot ni Paolo.

CONFIDENTIALITY MEASURES. Last season ay naging malaking isyu ang lumabas diumanong leakage na si JC Tiuseco ang mananalo kahit di pa man tapos ipalabas ang Survivor Philippines: Thailand. This season, anong precautions ang ginawala nila para masiguro ang confidentiality ng outcome ng show?

“Well, definitely, there are a lot more security measures that were put into place,” sabi ni Paolo. “Once again, the confidentiality agreement that each time was reminded to each and every one of us—the staff, sa crew, sa mga castaways especially.

“With regards to what happened last season, it was just one of those things na nagkataon na nag-usap about who won, even when there was no winner technically yet. It was an assumption by a staff member probably, or somebody involved on the show, sabi niya, ‘Ay, malamang si JC ‘yan!’ So, it was an assumption that was heard and made into a conclusion, and therefore, it entered the Internet at kumalat. And it ended up to be true. With that, we’ll be more careful this time, we promise you… Pumuputol na kami ng dalari at saka ng paa! But, yes, definitely we are more careful now. Mas secretive kami sa mga results.”

Ipinaliwanag din ni Paolo ang magiging proseso sa final Tribal Council upang masiguro na hindi lalabas ang magiging resulta ng botohan, kung saan ang resulta ay live naman ia-announce.

“Final Tribal Council, hawak ko yung boto. Yung cameraman, wala. Nagra-run lang yung camera. Yung system, tinanggalan ng kable. And then after everything’s done, kukunin yung tape, tago. And they will open it, I think two days before the finals when they edit,” pag-reveal ni Paolo.

Mayor Brad Pitt – New Orleans. Hmmm.

brad-pitt-frontpage

I was so sure that Reyna Elena would have been very very pleased if and should the hunky and half of the most powerful couple in Hollywood, Brad Pitt would run for Mayor in New Orleans. But, we can take the banners down and keep the printed T-Shirts “Brad Pitt for Mayor” as a collectible – - because he’s not running (at least for now).

I watched his interview with Anne Curry on NBC Today and when asked, he jokingly said, “I’m running on the gay marriage, no religion, legalization and taxation of marijuana platform.” He added, “I don’t have a chance.”

But with a serious response he said,  “I don’t have a chance. It’s not what I do best.”

Maybe next time around Reynz.

Whitney Houston – “I Look to You” Lyrics + Video

Whitney Houston – I Look to You

As I lay me down,
heaven hear me now.
I’m lost without a cause
after giving it my all.

Winter storms have come
and darkened my sun.
After all that I’ve been through
Who on earth can I turn to?

[Refrain]
I look to you.
I look to you.
After all my strength is gone,
in you I can be strong
I look to you.
I look to you.
And when melodies are gone,
in you I hear a song.
I look to you.

About to lose my breathe,
there’s no more fighting left,
Sinking to rise no more,
searching for that open door.

And every road that I’ve taken
lead to my regret.
And I don’t know if I’m going to make it.
Nothing to do but lift my head
[I Look To You lyrics on http://lyricsmusicvideo.blogspot.com ]

[Refrain]
I look to you.
I look to you.
After all my strength is gone,
in you I can be strong
I look to you.
I look to you.
And when melodies are gone,
in you I hear a song.
I look to you.

My levees are broken
My walls have come
tumbling down on me

The rain is falling.
Defeat is calling.
I need you to set me free.

Take me far away from the battle.
I need you.
Shine on me.

[Refrain]
I look to you.
I look to you.
After all my strength is gone,
in you I can be strong
I look to you.
I look to you.
And when melodies are gone,
in you I hear a song.
I look to you.

A Sharon Cuneta fan gives her take on Willie Revillame’s situation.

willie1

Dear Heart,

Kahit ano pa, Maging Sino Ka Man.

Bukas Luluhod Ang Mga Tala.

Ika niya, parang “Pasan Ko Ang Daigdig”.

Do you think they will have to courage To Love Again?

P.S. I Love You,

Madrasta

Uh-oh! And I Love You So not showing sa SM Cinemas?

sm-cinema-logo

I published the list of Theaters where And I Love You So will be shown in the Philippines (Nationwide).  I didn’t notice that SM Cinemas weren’t included in the list until I saw SNN and this video on Youtube questioning if SM CINEMAS are banned to show the movie who had a successful premiere not too long ago.

Rumors were flying and when the movie was being plugged on SNN – - watch Kris Aquino‘s reaction when Boy Abunda said, “Except SM Cinemas“….

Uber Chika is that SM is connected to GMA – - dunno how but it’s more like a conflict of interest kind of thing.

What do you think?

Shopping for a Flatscreen TV? Best Buy offers 52″ Samsung Flatscreen for $9.99 through their website

full

Got your attention didn’t I? Ha! This was simply an erroneous mistake on the pricing from Best Buy’s website and people were shocked to find that the Samsung52″ LCD/HD TV is for sale for $9.99.

Technically, the rule of thumb is that if you walk into a store and something is not priced properly – you as the consumer get to take the goods at the low price tag and the management would  have to adhere to it since it was their error.

It’s kinda different online.  They can put disclaimers that would say “pricing may change at any time” or “prices may be revoked” – - Wouldn’t it be a kicker if websites worked the same way as brick and mortar stores? That would be the deal of the year!!

Awesome! Sardine Migration in the Philippines!

I didn’t know that we have events like this in the Philippines. I happened to read the Telegraph this morning and found that this is a yearly event that tourists actually go to and see.

According to the Telegraph, “the shimmering cloud was made up of tens of millions of tiny sardines, swimming in formation”.

This happens around the end of July dubbed as the “sardine run” when sardines migrate to a better location for breeding and food supply.

Pretty neat huh? The photos were taken by an American tourist who simply happen to catch the moment – which was not very common according to the report.

The Philippines is indeed a haven for tourists…

There are too many levels of kids these days. Some are still innocent and naive, but others are no longer kids in the very sense of the word. There are really no kids in this world today don’t you think?
