We’ve all been amazed by her…touched by her simplicity and watched her compete for the finals of Britain’s Got Talent. When she lost, she checked into a mental health clinic to recover from the stress of becoming an overnight sensation, calling the experience “overwhelming”.

Kris Aquino for President in 2010?

Filipinos are emotional people. Humans are emotional people. We all feel. We all relate. The speech rendered by Kris Aquino during her mom’s funeral mass on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 was heartfelt. It was a different Kris that stood on the pulpit and spoke to the Filipino people. She made a lot of promises – mostly to her mom – before she passed. But she also made sincere promises to the Filipino people.
The thing that I noticed when she spoke is that she got everyone’s attention. Proof? The BUZZ rated very high during Kris Aquino’s tell-all regarding the ordeal she had to go through during the last 12 days of her mom on earth. People were listening.
According to the Philstar, if Kris ran for office today, she would win by a landslide. But would she run for office? I highly doubt it. Although, her mom had always said that of all her childen, “Kris reminded her much of Ninoy Aquino”.
I believe that we should focus on speaking out against any maltreatment our current government is doing. Visible or not, we should all speak up if we find any type of abuse of power from the local policeman to the Congressmen, Senators .. all the way to the President. Because if we should all live by the law, no one should be exempt from the law.
Given that we were inspired by a grieving daughter as she flapped her heart out on her sleeve, we must use that energy to channel good things for our country and our fellow Filipinos. Should Kris run in the future – (will probably be a long time before she is qualified and before she is prompted to do so), who knows? We can pave the way for anyone by doing our contribution today. Kris Aquino could even be our spokesperson. She could be our “poster child”. Blow the whistle, tell someone of any corruption. Blog about it. Talk about it. The more Filipinos become vocal and expose corruption – the better we can protect our constitution and the better we can preserve our democracy.
Petition Online filed to penalize Willie Revillame on his “disrespect” about Tita Cory’s Cortege / Funeral as an inset on his show
I knew that this was just brewing. I saw the actual segment on Wowowee while I was watching and to be honest, I was offended. Willie Revillame speaks down to the staff of Wowowee and he does this often on-the-air!! I used to just let it go as well but the last string was last Monday’s display of arrogance that Willie exhibited. Out of respect for Tita Cory, I was extremely offended.
ABS-CBN had been doing live coverage of the cortege on their free TV channel, ABS-CBN Channel 2, and online. On TV, however, ABS-CBN switched to “Wowowee” during its scheduled timeslot. This is the time Willie reacted.
“Kung ganyan, pakita na lang natin ‘yan. Kasi nagsasaya kami dito, tapos… Masakit sa akin ‘yan, e. Nagsasalita ako dito… ‘yan, please. Sana maintindihan n’yo. Nagsasaya kami dito, papakita n’yo sa amin yun ang… di ba? Hindi tama, e. Okey? Hindi ba?”
“Pangit! Hindi ho maganda sa atin. Nagsasalita, ipinapakita yung kabaong ni Tita Cory, hindi ba? Papano kami makapagsasaya, nahihirapan kami? I’m sorry ho, ha. Pero ako, totoo ako, e. ‘Wag n’yo akong pagagalitan, kasi totoo ang gusto kong malaman…
“Pagkatapos ng show, ipakita n’yo ang gusto n’yong palabas. Kasi itong Wowowee, gusto ko… Hindi ba, at alam din ni Tita Cory ‘yan dahil napasaya rin siya ng show na ito na laging masaya dito, ok?” – Source
I was reading online today that an online petition has been filed to garner signatures to penalize Willie Revillame and reprimand him so he can show respect and watch the way he speaks when he’s on television.
The Petition calls for:
“MTCRB to be more vigilant, so that this lowest form of personal attack by a tv showbiz talk show host, for her/his personal agenda, will not happen again.”
Suffice it to say, this has gained flight due to people’s respect for Tita Cory Aquino. It further goes on to say,
“I am calling the PANA to stop supporting Wowowee until they axe or reprimand Willie Revillame due to his actions. With him as one of the hosts, your product does not project a positive image to the public.”
The petition was signed (Undersigned) with no name given except for the alias “badwilly” and it continues to gain traction. Will Willie be reprimanded for his actions? Will he tone down and be more sensitive?
TV Personalities such as Willie Revillame must be aware of the influence that they create while on air. It is a family variety show – therefore, children of all ages are watching as well. They (TV Personalities) can’t just blab their mouths irresponsibly. They should be cognizant to the point that they should be careful about making such bold comments on National TV.

We all felt that change was coming. As Tessie Tomas said during an interview with Korina Sanchez yesterday as she recalled talking to her relatives during People Power Revolution, “Nagbabago ang gobyerno natin.” This is a moment of change for all Filipinos. Speak up. No government shall be powerful enough to topple the Power of the People. We are a nation under God and protected by the mantle of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Tita Cory Aquino showed us that we can speak up and not be oppressed anymore. Let’s do our share to help the country move towards the right direction.
If voting on the upcoming election would show your share and respect for our late President, register now. Let your voice be heard and let our government know that you will never stand on the sidelines and watch them steal from our people. Show them that you will never grieve Tita Cory’s passing without knowing the legacy she left us. FREEDOM.

The death of former Philippine President Corazon Aquino was no doubt the biggest story this weekend. This is why the two giant TV networks in the country, ABS-CBN and GMA-7, provided the viewers extensive reports about the former president and People Power icon—from the announcement of her death by son Noynoy Aquino, to her wake at La Salle Greehills, to the four-hour motorcade going to Manila Cathedral, to her necrological service, and until her funeral tomorrow, August 5.
Regular TV programming was momentarily halted to give way to news updates about Tita Cory’s wake, and this obviously affected the ratings game in the Mega Manila area.

Regular programming was momentarily interrupted to give way to the latest updates about the wake of the late President Corazon Aquino, who passed away last August 1 after a one year and a half battle against colon cancer.
Aside from news updates about the former President’s wake entering the top daytime and primetime programs, it’s also interesting to note that The Buzz, ABS-CBN’s showbiz-oriented talk show posted one of its highest ratings (20.5 percent) last Sunday, August 2, thanks to Kris Aquino’s tell-all interview about her mother’s last days on earth. The said figure helped propel The Buzz into No. 1 in the daytime race.
Meanwhile, weekday primetime darling May Bukas Pa posted its highest rating at 44.4 percent last night, August 3, to maintain its lead.

A new Kris Aquino emerged before our eyes during the last two weeks. She embodied a “prodigal daughter” who has finally realized her wrongdoings and made up for it by showing her mom (not the world, although it showed the world simply as a byproduct of her actions) that she is a different person now.
Watch the touching eulogy she gave during the Funeral Mass for Tita Cory. I believe that although she is usually “maarte” according to commenters – this time, it was sincere. (Comedy lang po ng konti – sabi ni Mel, ka-distract daw yung Chanel earrings ni Kris Aquino – - hahaha!)
The whole mass and presentation reminded me of Princess Diana’s funeral. I could just imagine the logistics in preparing for the crowds and the activities to make this all happen. Congratulations to all involved – most specially the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Simply outstanding!

Paula Abdul says Ta-ta to American Idol
No more crying surprises, no more dancing while a contestant is performing, no more encouraging words, no more Paula Abdul.
It has now been confirmed by FOX that Paula Abdul will not be returning on next season’s American Idol.
“Paula Abdul has been an important part of the ‘American Idol’ family over the last eight seasons and we are saddened that she has decided not to return to the show. While Paula will not be continuing with us, she’s a tremendous talent and we wish her the best.” – Idol PR Team
She is very much part of the show and part of the chemistry that made American Idol a success. It’s her “blondie comments” that made the show. I think American Idol will definitely be missing a very serious component of the show and I do hope that with her departure, life can go on and American Idol continues its succcessful run.

What’s your reaction to Willie Revillame’s refusal to show Tita Cory’s Cortege during Wowowee?
The text messages ran rampant at the moment they saw Willie Revillame mentioned something about showing the coffin of Tita Cory while en route to Manila Cathedral during his show, Wowowee. He looked annoyed and said that the clip should not be shown together with the Wowowee Variety show as it is disrespectful to Tita Cory.
In your opinion, was it disrespectful to show the clip as a corner window while Wowowee is on the air? Should they have shown Tita Cory’s Cortege instead and shut down Wowowee? What would have been the proper protocol in this case?

Michael Jackson’s Deathbed Photo Published by News of The World

There’s a lot of buzz surrounding a photo published by the online website, News of the World (who claims that the photo published was Michael’s Jackson’s room where he died) had been made available on their PRINT EDITION only and was released on their Sunday Edition.
According to News of the World, it is the deathbed where Dr. Murray administered the drug Diprivan (Propofol) to Michael and shows the state of the bedroom after paramedics worked to help revive Michael Jackson.
The confirmation that it was MJ’s bedroom allegedly came from Los Angeles County Coroner, Lt. Fred Corral. The News of the World Michael Jackson deathbed photo can only be seen in the print edition and not their online edition which I believe would show up online anytime soon.

I am aware of what Filipinos are feeling these days most specially the ones who are out of the country, about the death of our dear former President Tita Cory Aquino. As much as we’d like to participate, take a glimpse of her remains, or even pay our final respects – being away from our motherland makes it almost impossible for us to do so.
So, most of us would like to take part as best we can by watching live streaming videos or watching TV (that is if we have a subscription to TFC or GMA). I am providing a couple of links here that may help.

My newfound respect for Kris Aquino. – Chuva

I didn’t know Kris Aquino that well. When she came to the limelight, I was already way detached from Philippine Showbiz. The only time I learned about her was when I started this blog. I heard about her past and there were times that she wasn’t acting as the daughter of President Cory Aquino. Things like going on national televison to air out her personal laundry and so forth. For anyone, they would probably say “Kahiya-hiya.”
Since my love for President Aquino was similar to the love I had for my mom, hearing those things about Kris felt like she was hurting my own mother. Since then, I had this thing against her for some reason.
But the recent events had changed my affection for Kris Aquino. With the death of her mom, I heard and read all the things that she did for former President Aquino. Kris was the one who stayed with Cory during her last days. She took a leave from work in order to spend more time with her mom, making sure that her mom is comfortable and always at her bedside to respond to anything that she may need or want. She stayed with Tita Cory until the end. Kris, for that we are grateful.
I began to admire her courage and her strength. Kris really stepped up to the plate and took the responsibilities in front of her. Then, I realized that I had judged her prematurely. Some or most of us have to really go through things in our lives in order to take that step to a more mature level. I believe that she has arrived and I am very proud of her.
I was looking for the Youtube videos of her interview with The Buzz during Tita Cory Aquino’s public viewing and instead I found these video of Kris (with a clip and interview of Cory Aquino) as she celebrated her birthday. Thanks to Tweency for the video uploads.

Like Sharks? Shark Attacks? Learn: Discovery Channel’s Shark Week
Starting tonight at 8:00 p.m. Discovery Channel will air Shark Week. Features include shark attacks and makes you really think twice when you go to the beach and go into the water. I guess people just have to be aware of what and what not to do in order to not invite an attack.
The sharks are also a big part of our ecological system and the documentaries doesn’t intend to scare but to help understand shark a little better than just treating them as predators in the water and why there is a great need for conservation.

Joe Jackson: Norweigian Omer Bhatti is Michael Jackson’s Son
The mysterious guy sitting in front with the Jackson Family during the Michael Jackson Memorial at Staples Center has been questioned ever since. No one has really come up and said what his relationship was to the Jackson family. There were speculations that he is Michael Jackson’s 25 year-old son but it has never been confirmed. From afar, he looks hot. I haven’t seen photos of him up close just yet but I’m sure those will be surfacing soon.
Joe Jackson spoke to CNN Reporter and admitted that Omer Bhatti is indeed Michael Jackson’s son. Questions arise regarding his statement because although the Jackson’s are highly secretive when it comes to family affairs, they are asking how this news would have slipped by any media’s fine-tooth comb?

One of the most candid interviews I saw of President Cory Aquino was the interview she gave to Jessica Soho back in September last year. She spoke from the heart and you could actually feel from when she spoke, the sincerity and honesty of every word she uttered.
During the interview, I captured a phrase. The phrase seems to have been her message to all Filipinos and a message that we should all remember and instill in our hearts.
Years come and go and we sometimes forget. We can never forget the sacrifice that she made for us. She did it so we can have our freedom once again. As Filipinos, we should remember her and keep her as a beacon of freedom and sacrifice.
She said:
I could safely say that now after all these years, people still accept me for what I am and when I say something, they accept it as the truth and nothing else.
Magalaing ang demokrasya pero kinakailangan din na mas maraming tao ang tutulong sa pamahalaan, dahil hindi kailangan ng pamahalaan na sila lamang ang tutulong sa mamamamayan. I suppose that we all have to change in the sense that for those of us that have done nothing yet or have done very little for the rest of our fellow Filipinos, it is time to wake up and to do something. – Corazon Aquino
President Aquino’s remains lie in state at the La Salle Greenhills Gymnasium. The Aquino family preferred that the former President had a funeral for the people rather than a state funeral as Malacanang had suggested.
People from all over have lined up in the rain to pay their last respects to our beloved Tita Cory.
The nation is in mourning. The nation is being reminded. “We are a free people because of her. ”
