Aljur Abrenica sorry for supposedly upstaging Iza Calzado at The Echo premiere

Typhoon Ondoy wasn’t a factor at Aljur Abrenica and Kris Bernal’s premier night for their movie Nandito Ako… Nagmamahal Sa ‘Yo last September 27, 2009 at the SM Megamall Cinema 10.
“Halo halong emosyon ang nararamdaman namin ni Kris ngayon,” shared Aljur with Startalk. “Kinakabahan kasi hindi kami masyado nakapag-promote, tapos iyong nangyari pa.”
But Aljur said that that nervousness was overshadowed by concern for the people who were affected by the storm. He added that he and Kris were just going to finish the premier and then immediately roll up their sleeves and assist in helping their fellow stars in doing what they can for Ondoy’s victims. Kris was also nervous about the premier but nonetheless said that it was her duty and Aljur’s to help out. “Nakikiisa din kami sa kanila,” she added, “and at the same time, the show must go on. Proud din kami na we’re given the movie na matagal na namin hinihintay at pinangarap.”
SORRY FOR “UPSTAGING” IZA CALZADO. Also present during the premier was Iza Calzado who starred in the Hollywood version of The Echo. It was reported that Iza felt bad about Aljur and Kris grabbing the spotlight from her during The Echo’s premier night on September 22, 2009. Aljur supposedly “stole” the spotlight when he presented Kris with a bouquet of flowers, thus getting the attention of the media present.
“It will take a lot more than that to piss me off,” laughed Iza in a separate interview. “Alam mo ‘yon, ako pa, e, sobrang liit na bagay na iyon palalakihin ko pa ba? Siyempre nandito ako para suportahan ang mga bata. Mababait na bata mga ‘yan at talagang every time na nakikita nila ako, e sobrang paggalang at respeto ang binibigay nila sa akin.”
Aljur himself has nothing but respect for Iza. He expressed, “Ang bait talaga ni Ma’am Iza Calzado. Hindi ko talaga in-expect na ganoon ang mangyayari at wala po talaga akong intention. Ang gusto ko lang talaga, maibigay ang flowers kay Kris para mag-sorry na na-late ako. Hindi ko ine-expect na mga camera na ganoon katagal pati yung interview to the point na nakaagaw-eksena na kami kay Ma’am Iza. So, wala po ako masabi. It’s my fault and sorry talaga. Thank you Ate Iza for understanding and tinanggap niyo po ang sorry.”
