Stephen Gately of BOYZONE dies in Spain at 33
A member of the famous Irish band, BOYZONE died in Spain on Saturday while vacationing at the famous European destination – the Island of Majorca. The group announced Stephen Gately’s death on their website Sunday.
According to reports, Gately was vacationing in the Spanish Island of Majorca with his partner named Andrew Cowles. Spanish Police reoirts that he seemed to have died after falling asleep on the couch and choking on his own vomit. Due to it being a holiday in Spain on Monday, a post-mortem examination is to be performed on Tuesday.
The hunt is on to find a mystery man who was reportedly invited by the couple to their vacation house.
The Irish band had sixteen consecutive top five hits in the United Kingdom and is one of Ireland’s best selling bands with six number one singles and four number one albums.

Nalulungkot man, sinabi ni Charice na ang pagbabalik niya sa bansa ay by next year na dahil magiging busy din siya sa promotion ng pelikulang Alvin and the Chipmunks kung saan na-feature siya sa pelikula bilang voice talent. At sa kanyang pagbabalik-Pinas, ang singing sensation ay ipo-promote ang kanyang album kung saan may duet siya with Sean Kingston na kilala sa hit song na “Beautiful Girl.”

Filipinos are making waves abroad not just in the entertainment scene, but also through humanitarian efforts.
On Nov. 26, Cavite native Efren Peñaflorida, Jr. is stepping into the halls of the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood to attend CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute, which will honor him and nine other people from around the world who are “making a difference.”
CNN, which marks its third year of recognizing heroes around the world, will award Efren $25,000 for his “extraordinary accomplishments.”
The 28-year-old educator won the recognition from the international news agency because of his Dynamic Teen Company, a volunteer organization he founded that aims to uplift the lives of poor children living in slums in the Philippines.

Claudine Barretto still tears up when she recalls fears for Raymart Santiago’s safety during Ondoy
Pumirma ng two-picture contract ang aktres na si Claudine Barretto sa Viva Films nung Huwebes, Oktubre 9, sa harapan ng excecutives nito na sina Vic, Veronique at Vincent del Rosario, June Torrejon-Rufino at Shirley Kuan. Sa panayam kay Claudine ng SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon kagabi ay sinabi niya na sobrang saya niya na makagagawa na rin siya ng pelikula para sa Viva.
“Masayang-masaya and I’m very excited. This is the first time I’m gonna work with Viva for movie,” sabi ni Claudine.
Bago niya tinanggap ang offer ay nagpaalam naman daw siya sa ABS-CBN Star Magic, ang humahawak ng career niya.
“I asked permission kay Tita Mariole [Alberto] at kay Mr. M [Johnny Manahan],” sambit niya.
Ang huling pelikulang ginawa ni Claudine ay yung Sukob mula sa Star Cinema, kung saan ay nakasama niya rito si Kris Aquino.
Noong 2006 pa yun. Kaya sobrang na-miss daw ni Claudine ang paggawa ng pelikula. “Parang feeling ko, na-miss ko yung big screen.”
FIRST VIVA FILM WILL BE WITH ANNE CURTIS. Kaya ba siya nag-decide na pumirma ng kontrata sa Viva dahil matagal na siyang di nabibigyan ng pelikula ng Star Cinema at iniwan na niya ito?
“Hindi naman ako umalis sa kanila. I’m still willing to work with them. Konting freedom lang ang hinihiling ko.”
May gagawin naman daw pelikula si Claudine sa Star Cinema.
“Actually, there is one on January [2010]. And we’re hoping that we could start etong November. Kasi parang ang tagal-tagal na. Tapos we’ll be starting yung serye namin ng ate ko [Gretchen Barretto] na kung kelan ilalabas, hindi namin alam. Supposedly October 10 ang start ng taping namin. Kaso may mga inaayos pa because of the bagyo nga,” paliwanag ni Claudine.
Sa unang pelikulang gagawin ni Claudine sa Viva ay si Anne Curtis ang makakasama niya.
“I’ve been telling Anne for the longest time that I really love to work with her. At least hindi lang kami magkakasama sa isang network kundi sa isang pelikula sa labas.”
ONDOY VICTIMS AND RESCUERS. Isa rin ang mag-asawang Claudine at Raymart Santiago sa biktima ng bagyong si Ondoy. Binaha ang kanilang bahay. Pero sa kabila nito ay nagawa pa ring tulungan ni Raymart ang mga kapitbahay nila na binaha rin sa tulong ng kaibigan nilang si Jericho Rosales. Sinuong ng dalawang aktor ang baha.
“During that time na nangyayari yun, natakot talaga ako. Ang tagal-tagal niya nang nasa tubig. Siguro mula 12 noon hanggang 10 yata ng gabi. Akala ko hindi ko na makikita yung asawa ko. Talagang iyak ako nang iyak. Sabi ko ‘Echo, Echo, balikan mo si Raymart’. And malakas naman ang loob niya, talagang binalikan naman niya ang asawa ko.
“Alam ko hindi kukunin ng Diyos yung asawa ko sa akin. Siguro naman I won’t be going do something as bad as losing someone again. Kasi parang… siguro sobra naman yun,” naiiyak na sabi ni Claudine.
Mikaela Bilbao denies sending threatening text messages naming Gretchen Barretto and Pops Fernandez
Itinanggi ng businesswoman na si Mikaela Bilbao na siya ang nagpadala ng text messages na nailathala rito kahapon, October 8.
Dalawang beses naming nakausap sa cell phone si Mikaela ngayong araw, Oktubre 9. Una ay noong 3:31 ng hapon at pangalawa noong 6:29 ng gabi. Tumagal lamang ng 12 minutes ang dalawang beses naming pag-uusap.
Sinabi niyang wala siyang ipinadalang text messages kay Ana Abiera na nagdadawit kina Gretchen Barretto at Pops Fernandez. No Visuals to the Naked Eye – NASA Moon Bombing – VIDEO

In case you missed it, the Today show was broadcasting NASA’s project to send a “centaur rocket” and bomb the moon in order to detect the presence of water. Even though Today was monitoring the activity, there was really nothing that the naked eye could see when it finally happened.
It was expected that an explosion will occur after the blast which could be seen through the live feed but it never happened. A sensor was sent minutes after the bomb hit the moon to collect data.

Barack Obama just won the Nobel Peace Prize but this is Juicier… Sarah Palin out to destroy Levi Johnston
Ha! Okay, President Barack Obama just won the Nobel Peace Prize. Congratulations. I think it’s way too early to give that out but I guess, a Nobel Peace Laureate knows that more is expected of them… so, this may be just a sign of “Make it a better world Pres. Obama, we are all watching!”
But, in other news…Sarah Palin vs. Levi Johnston. What a fun thing to watch. Sources say that in her upcoming book release in November, Sarah Palin’s “Going Rogue: An American Life” memoir (which is already Amazon’s Best Seller in the Pre-Order category) has chunks and chunks of dirt to dish about the hunky and soon-to-be-playgirl-spread Levi Johnston. She even goes as far as saying the Levi is a “bald-face liar“, “trying to earn a fast buck at the ex-governor’s expense” and simply bitter about the deterioration of his relationship with the daughter of Sarah Palin, Bristol Palin.
Wow! I’m no Republican but I think I’m going to pre-order a copy just for this. I want to know the inside scoop! What’s so seemingly timely about this is Levi Johnston’s acceptance of posing for Playgirl. Ha! I’m sure both publication will get a big boost just because of this mud-slinging bits.
Now, I don’t remember who’s really using who at who’s expense… but both of them are poised to be laughing all the way to the bank after this fiasco.

Thirteen Filipino films to be given tribute in Greece

The Philippines will be the country in focus in a Greek film festival this November. The 50th Thessaloniki International Film Festival will hold an Independence Days section in honor of Philippine cinema, which has gained acclaim and worldwide visibility in the last few years. It will be held from November 13-22, 2009.

Kim Chiu admits she’s worried about her new movie role
Kim Chiu steps out of her comfort zone in her next film, I Love You, Goodbye where she will portray a role unlike the ones she has played before. “’Yung role ko do’n sobrang na-challenge ako, sobrang kakaiba,” she revealed. “Sinasabi ko sa director namin na si Direk Laurice (Guillen), ‘Direk, tulungan n’yo ako. Sabihin n’yo sa akin kung tama.’ Kasi medyo may pagka-bad, brat at may dark side [‘yung character]. Tinutulangan naman ako. Sana lang maganda ‘yung kalalabasan.”

Let’s admit it. The gurl has gone through a lot with her very public divorce proceedings from Jon Gosselin and how she cannot pay her bills at the moment because allegedly, Jon emptied out their bank account leaving her only $1,000.00 in the bank. She’s appeared numerous times on the Today Show almost holding back tears as she describes how hard it is to go through what she’s going through now. Even the most recent cease and desist order that Jon had requested of TLC (the show is currently on hold) made her go nuts because she doesn’t know how she’s going to pay her bills.
Dubbed as the “sexiest mom in Hollywood”, Kate Gosselin poked fun at herself on the Jay Leno Show. Go Kate! I know that many people are hating Jon right now and are on Kate’s side because of Jon’s erratic behavior of late. So Kate – if Jon is getting all the attention of the media… don’t despair. This sketch you just did may catapult you to an even bigger celebrity than your soon-to-be-ex-husband Jon.

Haha! I heard about it from my usual tipster, Joey. He calls me all the time when he sees videos on Youtube that are fun (not necessarily viral). I thought this was a fun video similar to the one I posted last Easter Sunday filmed at the Central Station in Belgium.
It’s great to see that Filipinos can do it too and do it well. Although the video is two months old, I still think that this Jollibee Langhap Sarap promotion is fun and eye-catching. And no, I didn’t receive any money, burger, spaghetti or chicken legs from Jollibee. I simply thought that it was a cool promotion.

Text messages threaten Pops Fernandez and Gretchen Barretto
A certain text message is now being distributed for an alleged commission share the two celebrities received in connection with Dody Puno and Road Projects. There are no confirmed statements other than Gretchen Barretto’s response stating that she is “consulting with lawyers” regarding the allegation. She said that she will give a full interview to PEP.ph and tell her side of the story.
In the meantime, here’s the text messages”
Unang text: “Kung meron mas malala kaysa sa mga bagyo na pinagdaanan ng bansa natin is that may konting katotohanan sa sinasabi ni Sen. Australian TV apologizes for “Black Face” routine
I thought this was way over. I remember watching an episode about this in “Gimme a Break” with Nel Carter and the now hunky Joey Lawrence (who actually got sexier after he shaved his head) back in the 80s. It was something that was (and probably still is..) considered very offensive when Joey performed with a “black face” at a school program I believe.
Now here comes another one.
Shown on Australian TV’s variety show, “Hey Hey It’s Saturday”, the actors performed a parodied Jackson Five sketch. Harry Connick Jr. is one of the show’s judge and he was quite vocal with the act. He felt the responsibility to say something.
The Australian TV apologized stating, “It was never intended to offend and we regret any offence the … act caused,” said a spokesman for the network.

Yup! According to New York Daily News, Levi Johnston has accepted the offer. He has been working out six days a week and will do so for the next six weeks to pose for Playgirl on this month’s issue.
I guess this is going to boost up sales for Playgirl once again since there is somewhat a huge following Levi Johnston.

Noong Lunes, pinagpasa-pasahan through Facebook accounts ang isang video na dalawang taon nang naka-upload sa YouTube.
Sa tingin ng mga nagpakalat sa kanilang Facebook accounts, relevant pa rin ang mga nasabi ng award-winning actor na si Aga Muhlach sa interview sa kanya ni Cito Beltran sa show ng huli na Straight Talk sa cable channel na ANC—kahit dalawang taon nang nakararaan mula nang mai-air ang interview na ito.
Edited version ang video ng mahabang diskusyon ni Aga with Cito tungkol sa “deterioration” ng bansa at ang “dumi” at “pangit” na pamamalakad ng gobyerno. Kitang-kita sa mukha ni Aga ang pagkadismaya at frustration sa mga obserbasyon sa klase ng governance o pamamalakad sa gobyerno dito sa Pilipinas.
Nagpaunlak ng phone interview si Aga kahapon, October 6, habang pansamantalang itinigil muna ang shooting ng pelikula niya with Regine Velasquez dahil sa nangyaring pagbagyo. Tentatively titled Umboy and Berns ang Bb. Joyce Bernal-megged movie niya.

Very well-fitting for our youth today… Armida Siguion Reyna.. Tagubilin at Habilin
I must admit po na I haven’t heard of this CD before. I heard it for the first time while I was in Sao Paulo, Brazil with my friend who brought his iPod with him. After the never-ending sounds of Techno-Mix from the models we are staying with (yes, we were staying with Brazilian models… grabe!), my friend decided to hook his iPod up and let the models suffer while we listen to Tagalog muzak! I never even knew that Armida Siguion-Reyna put out a CD! There are very good and funny selections in the CD and I WANT A COPY!!
This is one of the selections and while I was a bit emotional at the time (pauwi na kami the next day), I heard the words of Armida Siguion-Reyna taken from her CD POP LOLA (photo above). I couldn’t help but digest the words and what it means and I thought – hmmm.. this makes a lot of sense!! Nakita ko ang mga weaknesses ko… and I really am going to take these advices to heart. Mabuhay ka!

Bloggers must disclose product endorsements – FTC
It’s not like we’re not doing it already. If you are writing sponsored posts, you well know that it should be noted that the post is indeed sponsored by an advertiser (or at least, anything to that effect). Just recently the FTC revised a 30-year old guideline about endorsement and testimonials. Celebrity endorsements are not the only ones affected but bloggers as well.
They gave an explicit section about endorsement and disclosure. In particular a product that was given to a blogger (free of charge) and asked to write something about the product.
When there exists a connection between the endorser and the seller of the advertised product that might materially affect the weight or credibility of the endorsement (i.e., the connection is not reasonably expected by the audience), such connection must be fully disclosed.
Here’s the example:
Example 7: A college student who has earned a reputation as a video game expert maintains a personal weblog or “blog” where he posts entries about his gaming experiences. Readers of his blog frequently seek his opinions about video game hardware and software. As it has done in the past, the manufacturer of a newly released video game system sends the student a free copy of the system and asks him to write about it on his blog. He tests the new gaming system and writes a favorable review.
Because his review is disseminated via a form of consumer-generated media in which his
relationship to the advertiser is not inherently obvious, readers are unlikely to know that
he has received the video game system free of charge in exchange for his review of the
product, and given the value of the video game system, this fact likely would materially
affect the credibility they attach to his endorsement. Accordingly, the blogger should
clearly and conspicuously disclose that he received the gaming system free of charge.
I guess if I am given free makeup from MAC Cosmetics, I cannot write about it and not disclose it.. simple as that. I don’t have a problem with that. Or even a MAC laptop will do. Hello Mac and MAC… send it to me… I’ll write about it and disclose that it was given to me for free. Pleaseeeee…
