Stop lying about Kate Winslet and dare to publish them or pay $40K as a result
We’ve seen this before. We’ve seen in in Philippine media as well. Remember the Lolit Solis and Piolo Pascual/Sam Milby gay canoodling fiasco? Yup, you can’t just print anything and accuse anyone without proof. That’s unless you want to be liable for it.
Kate Winslet won a lawsuit against The Daily Mail (A U.K. tabloid paper) regarding their publication of an article entitled, “Should Kate Winslet win an Oscar for the World’s most irritating actress?”
The article accused the actress of lying about her exercise regimen and called her the “world’s most irritating actress.” She sued them and won $40K and an apology.
The actress apparently wanted to make it known that she is not a liar. She made a statement by saying:
“I was particularly upset to be accused of lying about my exercise regime and felt that I had a responsibility to request an apology in order to demonstrate my commitment to the views that I have always expressed about body issues including diet and exercise.
“I strongly believe that women should be encouraged to accept themselves as they are, so to suggest that I was lying was an unacceptable accusation of hypocrisy.”
There you go folks. Think before you print something. Ouch! Hahahaha!
