The Manny Pacquiao – Krista Ranillo – Jinkee Pacquiao Triangle became personal for one blogger
You’ve probably heard it on the news, watched it on The BUZZ, or whatever source of gossip you take your pleasure from. Manny Pacquiao, fresh from his historical win against Miguel Cotto is on the front pages again for an alleged affair with actor Matt Ranillo’s daughter – Krista Ranillo.
I’ve read about it and I’ve shared it with all of you because that’s what this blog is about. I find interesting gossips about celebrities and I share it with my readers.
One thing that caught my eye however was a blog that I normally read – - actually blogs — I normally read. One of the blogs I’m speaking of was created by a blogger who was one of the greats who has inspired me to start blogging, Coconuter. The other blog is a blog I visit from time to time because I always see her blog whenever I search for “Chuva” on Google. I don’t know her that well but I’ve read her posts and I remember being touched by her “Fabella” post as well. Her blog is Chuvaness – which certainly has a lot of following because her cause to raise money for”The Baby Factory” was very successful and I thought it was very nice of her to have created a post to raise money for the hospital.
I visited her blog today and found that she said something to the effect that she received about 36K hits and 16,700 unique visitors on her blog yesterday (November 16th Philippine time) and wondered how many Coconuter got.
I became curious because I’m an avid reader of Coconuter. I decided to find out why. As I read her blog, this is what I found. Chuvaness has a post entitled, “Coconuter thinks it’s okay for Manny Pacquiao to have an affair“. She took a part of the Coconuter’s post and pasted it on her blog. This is the statement:
“Until something materializes, as he said in his Cotto post-fight interview, he plans on taking a break, getting some rest, and having some fun. I guess I would assume that this would involve time with his family and also time with his reportedly new flame–Krista Ranillo. To me, I can empathize with Manny regarding this issue, and I think that as long as he takes care of his responsibilities then he should not be restricted of his liberties. I find the situation quite natural and the instinct innate in the human male. I believe that it gives Manny added inspiration, motivation, and/or pleasure in his life, which is something that we all need in life to keep going. Thus, I feel that the media should just let it be.”
After this text was a picture of Krista Ranillo. That’s all it took.
I checked out the original post by Coconuter to see whether the clipped statement was in the proper context as headlined by Chuvaness’ title. Coconuter stated his opinion as finding the alleged affair that Manny Pacquiao has with Krista Ranillo as natural and innate in the human male. He also said that he believes that it gives Manny the added inspiration… blah blah blah. Alright, I give it to her – from reading the post, that’s what Coconuter said. And that was HIS opinion on the matter. What I didn’t get was the flurry of hateful remarks left on Coconuter and Chuvaness’ post.
Here are some of the comments:
-0- Parang nagpapaliwanag ka na dito sa mga kabulastogan mo. Wag mong gamitin si Pacquiao para i voice out mo twisted mo na values (if they are values at all).
-0- ganon? parang nainis ako kay Coconuter bigla. machismo-laden lang ang statements.
-0- wow. the coconuter obviously has a screwed perception of the meaning of marriage and commitment.
-0- I just hope this person goes back to school and redirect his career to reading on making a dialectic between Kant’s deontological vs existential ethics. That is where the balance should be struck — not on his/her sensuality vs. natural (coz there’s no opposition there), which fits more like his/her excuse to his/her own unethical actions rather than a justification of Manny’s predicament.
-0- I could see why he would romanticize marital infidelity too. I think one too many coconuts fell on his head. Coconutter na siya….
-0- you know many of these bloggers…they will sell their souls to the devil just to have readers.
-0- egotistical & chauvanist. Yup, the world isn’t black or white for you — it’s majorly grey and twisted, spinning it’s way back to the dark ages where human decency was irrelevant
-0- I think we should all give this blogger a piece of our mind (parang kulang siya ng brain matter eh).
-0- Innate pala sa instinct ng “human male” not to honor a commitment to a spouse. Parang animal. Thanks for telling all of us the kind of values you have in life Mr Coconuter.
These are the milder comments. There were comments plagued with cuzz words and hurtful accusations left by readers from both blogs. I was shocked beyond belief on how he was personally attacked simply by stating his own opinion on his own blog. Parang over yata ang reaction ng mga readers.

just as you are given the right to voice out your opinion, these people are also entitled to their opinion too, whether they put it in their own blog or not. owning your own piece of cyberspace should not be mistaken for a safety net against other people’s points of view, especially if yours exhibit a questionable degree of morality. no one “deserves” to be attacked. but we are a catholic nation and by conveying moral aberrations to the public, you are quite simply begging for people to eat you up. if you don’t want other people to react violently to the twisted views that you have, then by all means write in a notebook type, lock-enabled diary, not in a public domain like the world wide web. everyone must keep in mind that they are always held accountable for everything they do or say.
Hello me and thanks for posting your comment. I understand exactly what you mean and I agree with every point you have stated. Being a blogger is the same as being a celebrity (I don’t mean that I am by all means) and you become public property.
Whatever you say or do is accountable similar to what Willie Revillame did during the Wowowee / Cory Funeral issue. At the same token however, Willie Revillame was attacked viciously for something that was misinterpreted or because an improper delivery of his request to remove the cortage from the show.
Regardless, I would have to disagree with the personal attacks. Coconuter didn’t attack anyone but simply stated his opinion on the matter. To call him names just didn’t look right to me. That’s all.
P.S. – There is a big difference between expressing one’s opinion versus personal attack. If you want to state your opinion, it should just end with that. No one has the right to call anyone names, curse or attack a person just because he/she stated his opinion on a subject matter.

I agree with the post of me and in addition to that. Blogging is a perfect way for freedom of expression. Bloggers gets to say whatever they want to say and in return readers also have the freedom to comment on posts.
Let’s accept it there are many types of people, the good, the bad, the frank, the evil etc and that we cant impress everybody. In blogging you put yourself and opinion to the world and therefore once readers know you they get a chance to praise you or attack you.

The sanctity of marriage and family is a notion universally upheld by filipinos. Comments that threaten this invariably invite heated responses and even hateful remarks. Unavoidable in the internet where people can post anonymously.
As for coconuter’s recent posts, there was just too much intellectualizing and digression. But basically, he insists that men have a innate instinct to have multiple partners so let pacquiao alone to follow this natural tendency and cheat on his wife. He didn’t really make much of an argument except that this is his personal belief.

Hey hey hey, someone wants champion breeding for her kids. I’m talking about beautiful actress Krista Ranillo. Has successfully targeted the boxing champion of the world… Manny Pacquiao. So the paparazzi have exposed the affair. Goes to show how in demand champion breeds are. Whether the species are cats, dogs, horses or cows, champion sperm is wanted everywhere.
As long as a man takes care of his wife & their family not that big of a deal if he has a fling especially if he is a champ like Manny.
Throughout history powerful men have attracted many women, that is why kings had many wives & sired many kids. Women are attracted to power/wealth whereas men seek youth & beauty.
I sympathize with Jinkee who is a great wife & mom (gave him 4 kids) but she married an alpha male & as long as he doesn’t neglect her & their babies (who should have primacy over any other kids he has with others as she is his first wife) she has a pretty good deal.

i think when people are too engaged with an issue (since the involved parties are public figures) they blurt out exactly what’s in their mind. not thinking of what to say… not even trying to finish reading the whole blog (your blog in this case)… because they cant contain anymore the agitation.
people are entitled to give their own opinion, different people with different sets of values and breeding. you cant impose them proper decorum on how to reply to your blog (which you rather prefer to be objective and pleasantly said)… unless you want to leave a huge sign on every end of your entry (which, i think, wont do at all).

krista ranillo was given as a gift to manny pacquiao… same case as with ara mina before. the problem with the ara mina case was that, nagfeeling masyado si manny and he fell for her, kaya the issue became publicized… these girls were paid by the prominent officials (who are fanatics and who are constantly following manny every fight abroad) to give “hospitable escort service” to manny… krista ranillo must be in dire need of money for allowing herself to be offered as a gift to men, and manny pacquiao is not the first man to whom she has rendered “hospitable escort service”… for krista, attention to manny is “trabaho lang.” too sad her father matt ranillo popularly plays Jesus every time Christians reminisce the story behind the holy week. what is more sad is that, manny who is known for his faith as a Catholic could have declined his politician friends’ gift (krista) to him considering that he is married, has two daughters, a doting mom and a helpless wife…

The commenters on Coconuter’s blog are entitled to their opinions on how twisted Coconuter’s views and morals are in the same way that Coconuter is entitled to his posting his views on his blog.
In my personal opinion, both commenters and Coconuter are entitled to let the world know their views. It’s just the normal reaction of the majority to react negatively to Coconuter’s view. We cannot blame those who were angried by what he posted on his blog. Though I do not approve of personal attacks, I completely understand why they were erupted to give harsh comments.
To what Krista and Manny have done, it is really a disgusting affair. Filipinos should not tolerate this kind of immorality. I support Jinky.
