Piolo Pascual dedicates his album to the important people in his life

Piolo Pascual returns to the music scene with his sixth studio album entitled Decades: The Greatest Songs of the ‘50s, ‘60s, and ’70s. The CD contains Piolo’s versions of timeless hits from the past. During the press launch for his album, Piolo talked about what each song mean to him. As to which songs he was dedicating to rumored girlfriend and Lovers in Paris leading lady KC Concepcion, he replied, “Siguro ‘yung ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.’ Kasi noon pa name-mesmerize na ako sa kagandahan niya. She grew up before our very eyes. Isang malaking karangalan sa akin nung nakilala ko siya. Kumanta ako sa 18th birthday niya. Nun namang bumalik siya from Paris sinabi na sa akin ng ABS-CBN na makakatrabaho ko siya. When we started taping for Lovers in Paris, may mga times na napapatingin lang ako sa kanya kasi sobrang ganda niya.”
But the Ultimate Heartthrob refused to clarify whether he and the daughter of Sharon Cuneta are a couple or just friends. He even said that he is dedicating his carrier single “Babe” to that special woman that is yet to come his way. “’Yung ‘Babe’ para sa isang babaeng hinahanap ko pa. Nire-reserve ko for someone special,” he said.
Although the bachelor admitted that he has a source of inspiration at the moment, he chose not to reveal who it was. The only clue he gave was he is dedicating his version of The Beatles’s “If I Fell” to this girl. “Ang message kasi nito is a man asking a woman to love him more kasi ‘yung dating babae didn’t love him as much. Meron akong naiisip na babae pwedeng pagalayan nito pero ayoko na lang sabihin. Basta maganda siya. Sa akin na lang muna, ha ha ha!”
Piolo confessed that his father is the one who inspired him to come up with this kind of album. The singer-actor recalled that when he was a young boy, his father would often sing to him. “’Strangers in the Night’ was the first song I got to memorize when I was a kid. I remember myself na nakatayo sa kama noon at kinakanta ko ‘yung ‘Strangers in the Night.’ Madalas siyang kantahin sa akin ng dad ko nun. Singer din kasi siya.”
Also included in his album his version of “I’ll Be Seeing You” which was used as the love theme for Komiks presents Mars Ravelo’s Nasaan Ka Maruja? He said he was dedicating this Frank Sinatra song to his deceased father. “Sobra ko na siyang nami-miss. Siya rin kasi ‘yung strongest musical influence ko. Kung buhay siya ngayon siguro sobra siyang mapa-proud na nakagawa ako ng ganitong album kasi mga ganitong songs kasi ang gusto niya.”
The Decades album also contains Piolo’s versions of well-loved ballads like “True Love,” “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling,” and “Just The Way You Are.” If there’s one song in his album that Piolo would dedicate to his fans, he said it would be the Rupert Holmes song “Terminal.” “Para ito sa mga nawawalan ng hope. Ang lesson is hindi natin dapat hintayin na magkasakit tayo to fall in love. We have to celebrate life and never lose hope.”
