VIDEO: Richard Heene, Father of Balloon Boy Hoax sentenced to 90 days in Jail
Richard Heene, the father of the now infamous Balloon Boy was sentenced to 90 days in jail plus probation for the stunt he pulled in making everyone believe that his son was stuck in a weather baloon. He apparently perpetrated the hoax in order to land a TV Reality Show deal. The cost of the attempted rescue was approximately 50,000 US Dollars of taxpayer money. His wife, Mayumi Heene received a similar sentence which would put her to jail for 20 days of the 90 days after he husband is released serving 30 of his 90-day sentence. Both will be under probation thereafter and are not allowed to profit from the “Balloon Boy Fiasco” for the next four years.
All choked up, Richard Heen apologized:
“I want to apologize to all the rescue workers out there and the people who got involved in the community.”
