Luis Manzano says that he and Sarah Geronimo are close friends
After his dramatic performance in In My Life, Luis Manzano is looking forward to his next movie which will have him star opposite Box Office Queen Sarah Geronimo, one of his closest friends in the biz. But even if she’s best known for her kilig team-up with John Lloyd Cruz, the witty actor-host refuses to be pressured with similar expectations for their movie. “In fairness, kami ni Sarah madami-dami kaming sikreto. Isa siya sa mga tao na sobrang tiwala ako sa showbiz. In terms of yung atake namin, ayaw naming maging cerebral about it—yung tipong anong gagawin natin, paano natin pakikiligin yung mga tao, paano natin gagawing comedy ‘to? But hopefully with the guidance of Direk Wenn (Deramas) at yung natural na personality namin ni Sarah, hopefully lumabas yun at dapat lang naman talaga,” he said in an interview with ABS-CBN.com.
The movie, which has the working title Hatid-Kapatid, also stars Judy Ann Santos who will play the role of Sarah’s strict sister. “And of course this is going to be a movie with Judai, for me it will be an honor to work with her. This time hindi ako nagho-host lang sa ASAP at ini-introduce ko siya sa audience, but I am actually going to work with her, it’s really an honor.” Luis further shared that the movie’s theme will be a mix of drama and comedy so that more people will be able to relate to it. “Correct me if I’m wrong, I think they prefer something light. Ang sarap ng feeling minsan na nanunood ka tumatawa ka, kinikilig ka. And if I’m not mistaken, the way Direk Wenn handles a movie, palaging may drama at light moments,” he added.
With all his work commitments for the first quarter of 2010, Luis joked that he wouldn’t even have time to sleep. His full schedule could have led to the rumors that he will be quitting Entertainment Live in favor of Pilipinas Got Talent (PGT), which Luis clarified by saying that he simply took a leave of absence for his upcoming concert with the Kanto Boys in Cebu and the PGT auditions in various provinces. “On January 16, ito na ang worldwide hit na Kanto Boys sa Cebu! Tapos ang alis namin ni Billy (Crawford) for PGT is on the 22nd and 23rd naman. Pero all in all, six weeks lang ako mawawala. After nun balik ako ng E-Live. Excited na nga talaga kami ni Billy na magsimula yung show dahil mas evident ang kulitan namin dito.”
Luis is also busy taping his reunion project with Toni Gonzaga, Your Song Presents My Last Romance. “We’re very thankful kasi napakaganda at warm ng reception ng tao sa My Last Romance. Hopefully magkaroon pa kami ng ibang projects ni Toni kasi nagkasama na kami sa Crazy For You. We have done countless hosting jobs together plus this one. I would love to do a teleserye with Toni pero siyempre management lang ang may decision nun,” he beamed.
