8.8 Magnitude Earthquake hits Chile – Pictures
Chile – An 8.8 magnitude earthquake hit the country of Chile in the early morning hours of Saturday, February 27th. The quake struck at 0634 GMT about 56 miles northeast of the city of Concepcion and approximately 317 km southwest of the capital, Santiago.
So far, there have been six deaths reported according to outgoing President Michelle Bachelet and that she could not rule out that there may be more.
A warning was issued by the US to countries such as Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Antarctica, Panama and Costa Rica.
Here are the first pictures of the damages in Chile. Let us pray for the safety of the people of Chile and that the damage and casualties would not be any closer to that of Haiti’s recent earthquake.
