Jenny McCarthy’s son may never have had Autism
The most outspoken celebrity which has become the poster for Autism is Jenny McCarthy. Jenny McCarthy has spoken publicly against MMR shots ( immunization for measles, mumps and rubella) for children. She has never stopped the fight since her child was diagnosed with autism in 2005.
Now, her 7-year old no longer shows signs of autism and according to a Time Magazine article (Jenny was interviewed as well), Jenny’s son Evan suffers from a totally different kind of ailment which is called Landau-Kleffner syndrome. It is a “a rare childhood neurological disorder that can also result in speech impairment and possible long-term neurological damage.”
Although she is glad about her son’s improvement and spoke about it saying, “Evan couldn’t talk — now he talks. Evan couldn’t make eye contact — now he makes eye contact. Evan was anti-social — now he makes friends. It was amazing to watch … when something didn’t work for Evan, I didn’t stop. I stopped that treatment, but I didn’t stop.” , she is now also reversing her position on MMR.
Instead, she will advocate for more research for vaccinations and that although her son may never have had autism, Jenny insists, “I’ll continue to be the voice” of the disorder.
