Speedo Student from University of Hawai’i under fire.

It was on top of the list today when I checked my MyBlogLog hot items. It’s the story about a student at University of Hawai’i-Manoa who has been “doing the deed” at many different places within the University that the school administration had to put out a warning to students about bodily fluids being left in and around the classrooms and other locations in the University.

Queerty broke the news today and now Huffington Post has picked it up as well.

Apparently, the 22-year old student by the name of Tim who goes under the name of SpeedoStudent1 on X-Tube (a very NSFW site) has been recording himself “in the act of self-pleasure” while wearing speedos. Most of you may know about fetishes and his fetish is for all things Lycra, Speedo and jockstraps.

The news spread around campus and a warning was issued in the student newspaper about the student’s behavior.  The student has a blog as well (warning – this blog is for 18 years of age or older only and NSFW!!!) dubbed as Hawaii Speedo Student.

I went to the blog just to see what it was all about (really!) and I must say that this student writes very well.  He’s articulate and precise in his choice of words including his apology to the ones offended by his blog.  However, make it known that he’s not apologizing for his actions as he believes that it is all about tolerance and that what he’s doing is “sexual art”.

He writes:

“After I came out earlier this year [2009], I discovered I love showing off in front of a camera. Taking naked or nearly naked pictures is both arousing and artistic for me. I enjoy doing it and I enjoy the thought that other guys might be getting off on it too.” He chose his username, not surprisingly, because “I have a big fetish for speedos. I always tan and swim in them and wear them as underwear most of the time. Most of what I put up here will hopefully have to do with speedos, but I’ll make sure there are plenty of nude pics too.”…..

Tolerance is the ability to accept all opinions, all behaviors as equally valid, regardless of your personal feelings about them; to understand that your ethical or moral framework and judgements apply to you and you alone; and to realize that even holding the same opinion as a majority of others does not give you the moral authority to force your views on the dissenters. That is true tolerance, which can only be observed in actions and not expressed in words. So far I have met remarkably few people capable of practicing it……

And he ended his entry by saying:

“I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” –Evelyn Beatrice Hall, biographer of Voltaire

Take the poll below:

Should SpeedoStuden1 be expelled from UofH for his actions?
No – it’s art.
Yes – it’s disgusting.
No – but he should be disciplined.
