This is the time of year when people get excited about getting back into shape. January comes and people are in the gym, hoping to make that resolution work. Then comes February when it’s coldest here on the East Coast – - you see people drop their gym attendance. March is the best time because it is warmer, the clock changes and there’s plenty of sunlight after 6:00 p.m. Birds are chirping and flowers start to bloom.
Well, one Butse Gang member has been running for the past couple of years and have done very well I might add. We call him Tasha – short for Fan”tasha“dora… hahaha! Last weekend, he did a 13.1 mile marathon and finished in 2H:19M – - say!!! I’m proud and jealous at the same time. I have been out of shape for the past year (the economy had a lot to do with it) so I’ve decided to go back to the gym today. I went on the elliptical machine for 20 minutes and another 20 minutes on the treadmill. It’s a start but I gotta get back in shape.
I might add that First Lady Michele Obama is encouraging healthy eating most specially for kids to fight obesity and it has taken the country by storm. Public schools are adapting to healthier lunch menus and students are even demanding healthier food spreads in school.
If I can, I am going to keep up with the 40 minute cardio for the next few weeks and I will start lifting again. All I need is three days of 40-minute cardio and do simple things like taking the stairs when going to work and taking a brisk walk during lunch time. I need to lose about 20 lbs. through diet and exercise.. so, help me God~!

Tasha is getting there and I am planning on joining him in September for an 8K marathon (5 Miles)… it will be a blast!
