Tell me a secret, and I promise I'll tell the world.

The Philippine Government is Hiring! Woohoo! Holiday Schedule for 2011 Published.

I visited the Philippine Government website today just to review the recently published Holiday Schedule for 2010 since Twitter was filled with links to the publication. My first reaction was, “Dang, I’m living in the wrong country! I should have stayed in the Philippines just for holidays alone! 14-days total? Wow!”

Philippines Holiday Schedule for the Year 2011

January 1 – New Years Day

February 25 – People Power Day

April 9 – Day of Valor / Araw ng Kagitingan

April 21 – Maundy Thursday

April 22 – Good Friday

May 1 – Labor Day

June 12 – Independence Day

August 29 – National Heroes Day

November 1 – All Saints’ Day

November 30 – Bonifacio Day

December 25 – Christmas Day

December 30 – Rizal Day

December 31 – New Year’s Eve

You see, there are many Federal Holidays in the US as well but depending on the company you work for, you may be lucky to get 10 non-working holidays for the whole year. I checked my company’s Holiday schedule and we are getting a total of 8 days (Woohoo!! NOT!).

The thing that struck me while visiting the website was the glaring ad that said, “We’re Hiring!!”. That is awesome! I’m sure that you have to be either the “top of your class or some highfalutin overseas graduate” to get a job there – - or simply know someone who knows the right people. I hope not. It’s just good to know that the website has improved so much from the time I visited the site years ago.
