Meet Oprah’s half-sister, Patricia. The news that rocked Oprah to her core.
If you watched the The Oprah Winfrey Show yesterday like I told you, you would have been so pleased to have known Oprah’s family secret revealed on the show. It was a secret only made known to Oprah last year and only met a family member she never knew existed on Thanksgiving day 2010.
Oprah’s mom Vernita had another child in 1963 while Oprah was living with her father Vernon. Vernon and Vernita were never married. Vernita gave up the child for adoption because she said “I could not afford to take care of her”.
All these years, Vernita kept the secret to herself and no one among all the children knew about this baby girl. She was named Patricia not by Vernita(supposedly by chance since Oprah’s older half-sister was named Patricia as well). Since Oprah referred to her siblings as half-sisters and half-brother, I am just assuming that they were all conceived from different fathers.
Who’s afraid of the Big Bad Blogger? PR firm and Big Bad Blogger remains to be identified.
The write-up by Ms. Margaux Salcedo on the Inquirer was shared to me several times on Facebook and I just felt compelled to write about it. Bloggers being used by PR firms to gain business working in cahoots with them by offering compensation for reviews and such.
I would not deny that during my early days as a blogger, I took paid reviews and I still do. But my reviews are not typical. I sometimes receive products from an advertiser so I can try them and then blog about my experience. There are no rules as far as what to blog. It could be positive and it could be negative. These are real advertisers or manufacturers asking my opinion about their products. That sounds fair right?
Jason Mraz Won’t Get Married Until Gay Marriage Is Legal
I am not an advocate for gay marriage. I don’t oppose it either. There are many who will go to great lengths to prove their point that gay marriage will put us all equal to the heteros of the world. I don’t think so but it still warms my heart when someone like Jason Mraz takes a stand about the fight that many of my friends believe in.
Jason Mraz announced that he will not marry his fiancee Tristan Prettyman until gay marriage is legal. (Although he didn’t say which US state is he waiting for gay marriage to be legal. He-he!) That is a pretty bold statement.
“The wedding would be nice for our family, our friends, our community — our moms especially — and so it puts us in the fight. We can’t get married until [gay] marriage is legal and equal…I think giving people the right to marry will be a huge movement in civil rights.”
For that, can I say to Jason Mraz….. “I’m Yours!”??

Awww isn’t that sweet! Chris Colfer and on-screen boyfriend Darren Criss on the cover of Entertainment Weekly
Don’t you just love it??!! Chris Colfer (Kurt) and Darren Criss (Blaine) are on-screen love birds on the popular TV show GLEE. So far, they have displayed positive roles for gay teens on the show and more likely, there will be more episodes showing the positive side of being gay.
Glee creator Ryan Murphy is good at that. He’s good at using the platform in speaking out about issues of teen pregnancy, gay bullying and many other topics that are presented in very interesting “musical-like” episodes. It’s no wonder that the show has touched a nerve with so many that it became a hit almost overnight.

I have two assumptions in this project.
One: Ricky Coates may still be a student.
Two: His job could care less about facial hair.
Ooops – actually three!
Three: He is a musician.
I don’t know much about Ricky Coates but he posted a video on Youtube documenting 365 Days of Beard. First, I think he looks very cute without the beard (I am glad you agree!). But growing a beard for one full year must have been a pain. First, the itch. When a beard starts growing, it becomes so itchy that it is not only uncomfortable – it can drive you nuts.
Maintaining a beard of this length would be so annoying because just like any hair, it can get tangled and all. But I guess, to prove a point – Ricky maintained his beard pretty well. One disappointment? In all 365 days, we didn’t see the guy shirtless in any of the pictures! Shucks! Haha!

Many of my readers come here to visit because of celebrities. I recently found out as well that many have marked this site as a “favorite” because of the sports live stream links that I post. But there’s a handful few who come here for fashion. I don’t claim to be a fashion guru or a fashionista but when I like something, I do create a post about it.
I was recently introduced to a special kind of blog. It’s more like a photo blog of sorts. It’s not created with lengthy entries and highfalutin words regular people won’t understand. It’s merely a showcase of celebrities with their birkin bags.
When a friend goes through difficult times, I only have one prayer – I hope they can be saved by love.
I have been a fan of Amy Grant ever since I can remember. I even went to see her concert in New York City with my sister. It is actually her “Lead Me On” concert tour that I went to see and this song was a cut from that album.
There are times in our lives that we are surprised with its twist and turns. We are unprepared for certain things and when those things occur, we don’t know where to turn to. That is why many times I question what life would have been for me and what would have I done with my struggles if I didn’t know of a “higher being” who guides and protects me. What would I do if I don’t have anyone to talk to?

Okay, this is probably the same as the Pokwang Video promo that was set out to become viral to promote upcoming concerts and TV shows. Daniel Matsunaga is not stupid and if I can get into an elevator and start kissing a someone in three seconds, either the girl is a whore or Daniel Matsunaga is really that hot. I think I will go with the latter.
Here’s the video that is making rounds on the net now. I guess the campaign is successful, if indeed it is a campaign. Otherwise, I see a broken-hearted Heart Evangelista on SNN soon.

From last week’s preview (I watched all of Oprah’s Big Australian Adventure), the camera showed someone coming out of the dark and walking into the stage.
The preview goes on to show the media queen saying, “I thought I’d seen it all. But this, my friends, is the miracle of all miracles. I was given some news that literally shook me to my core. This time, I’m the one being reunited. Only a handful of people in my life know about this. I’ve been keeping a family secret for months, and you’re going to hear it straight from me”.
What is the big secret? There are rumors going around that it will be the introduction of Oprah’s sister who was given up for adoption by her mother because she could not afford to support her. Kitty Kelly who wrote the unauthorized biography of Oprah Winfrey back in 2010 reveals that it is Oprah’s sister named Bunny whom she will introduce on the show.
“Godfather of Fitness”, Jack Lalanne has died at the age on 96.
Jack Lalanne, a fitness guru who made sure that all of us knew the benefits of getting to the gym and working out has died at the age of 96 due to respiratory complications from pneumonia at his home in Morro Bay, California.
I remember when I lived in New York back in the late 80s early 90s – Jack Lalanne gyms were all of the place. It was actually in direct competition with Lucille Roberts but Jack Lalanne had a wider reach. He changed the way we look at fitness. He made it fun. He had a television show called, “The Jack Lalanne Show” which aired for 34 years changing the workout and eating habits of American housewives.
“No Strings Attached” with Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman lands on Top of the Weekend Box Office
Paramount’s’ “No Strings Attached” starring Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman took the number one spot at the weekend box office starting January 21. The film took in 20.3 million in box office ticket sales. It’s no surprise that Natalie Portman’s portrayal as the dark and delusional ballerina in Black Swan may have helped ticket sales for this romantic comedy.
What was surprising about this was the demographics. 70 percent of the movie goers who saw the film were women and under the age of 25. Hmmmm. Are we all looking for a best friend in a relationship? Or are we looking to sleep with our best friend? That’s the big question.

Danica Flores Magpantay from the Philippines took home the prestigious title of Supermodel of the World 2011!
Supermodel of the World (Ford Supermodel of the Year, formerly Face of the 80s) is an international modeling contest established byEileen Ford in 1980. The contest showcases young fashion model entrants from over 50 countries in order to discover new talent for the fashion industry. The winner of the international final event receives the industry’s largest prize, a $250,000 modeling contract with Ford Models. The two runners up receive contracts of $150,000 and $100,000 respectively.
Filipino talents rocked the world in 2010 and it looks like we have a great start for 2011.

PerezHilton.com made a post today that said, “Tiffany Outs New Kid on the Block’s Jonathan Knight as Gay!” Tiffany was an early 90s pop star that became famous with songs like “Could’ve Been”, “I Think We’re Alone Now”, and “I saw him standing there.”
I don’t believe that Tiffany outed Jonathan Knight because he’s been out for a while. Remember when his Brazilian ex-lover outed him back in 2009? It’s no longer a secret Perez and it’s not on the downlow either.

Did Global Warming Cause The Sun Rise 2 Days Early In Greenland?

Well, others call it “Climate Change”. Many of us call it “Global Warming” yet regardless of what you want to call it, scientists are baffled by this phenomenon where the sun was expected to rise (or be seen) in the town of Ilussat in Greenland on January 13th but was already visible by January 11th.
This concerns them because of Global Warming and how the rise in temperature could affect other things.
But the most troublesome theory may also be the truth. Some scientists suggest that the sun rose early due to global warming, namely, Greenland’s melting ice caps. In the past year, temperatures in Greenland have risen three degrees Celcius above average. As icecaps melt, the horizon sinks down as well, which makes the sun appear earlier over the horizon. According to Tim Dixon, a professor of geodesy, “It is well known that global warming is causing most of Greenland’s outlet glaciers to melt faster and draw down the inland ice.” That said, there is debate over whether the melting ice sheet would affect the sunrise, given the ice’s eastern location.

“I’m Pregnant!” Ivanka Trump announced via Twitter
This is welcome news not only for Donald Trump but for Ivana Trump as well. This would be the first grandchild for the Trumps and I’m sure both are delighted.
According to People.com, Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump who married Jared Kushner back in October of 2009, announced her pregnancy through Twitter.
“I have been wanting to share some amazing news with you all for some time,” she announced via her Twitter account Friday. “I’m pregnant!”
“Jared and I couldn’t be more excited,” she added.
Awwww! Isn’t that sweet! Congratulations to the couple! Baby news are always welcome~!

Texting Pitfalls: Woman Falls in Fountain While Texting (VIDEO)
I guess this woman didn’t sign up for Oprah’s “No Phone Zone” or even if she did, she only signed up not to text while driving. She was texting while walking and fell in a mall fountain. Watch the hilarious video below. I am against texting while driving and walking but sometimes we get so caught up with communicating that it’s hard to avoid it.
What’s the BUZZ Today? TODD PALIN SEX SCANDAL – Shailey Tripp ring a bell?
“My sources reveal that a massage therapist and computer technologist, SHAILEY TRIPP, had an affair with Todd Palin that lead (sic) to her arrest March of 2010.”
“According to the tenants in the building of her offices, they saw Todd come and go often and heard noises that sounded like someone was having sex. It was the same tenants who called the police on her.”
This was the content of National Enquirer web version marking the report as “BREAKING NEWS”.
Tripp was a massage therapist who was arrested in March of 2010 for alleged prostitution. Apparently, the National Enquirer is hinting on physical evidence that they can provide as proof that the affair occurred.
If you must remember, National Enquirer broke the news of Sen. John Edwards and Rielle Hunter’s affair. Could there be any truth to this? Or is it simply a smear campaign against Sarah Palin who is still a viable Presidential candidate for 2012?
American Idol Premiere Ratings Down 11% from Last Year
Although the reports show that American Idol Premiere last night was 16.4 share/24 share in the overnight time slot of 8-10 p.m. , it is still down 11% from last year’s premiere.
Did Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler play a role in holding on to the ratings? The first audition episode of the musical talent competition earned a 19.6 rating among total television households.
I think the added drama of Jennifer Lopez crying in one of the auditions included in the preview was a draw, but do you think they can sustain their audience? If you watched it last night, what do you think?

I’m not into S&M. It’s not my thang! But the photo of Zac Efron above exudes a sexiness about it. Maybe because he is shirtless and has that hot physique (Nice chest Zac!!). Or maybe because his hair is still well-placed even in a situation like this – would this be from a photo shoot for a magazine?

Pres. Obama eases travel restrictions to Cuba – someday, we may all be able to travel there.
Whoah! I know that this would come as great news to many of my friends. We’ve always wanted to visit Cuba but due to the restrictions, we decided not to. We didn’t want to take any chances. Hold your horses though. Travel restrictions to Cuba have been eased but it would only make it easier for students, religious and cultural groups to visit Cuba.
Regular American tourists will still be unable to travel to Cuba for vacations but if you work for a religious institution or a student at a university, these institutions can grant you a permit. It used to be restricted to only allow Cuban Americans to travel to Cuba and a handful of people.
It gives us hope at least that someday, we as American citizens may be able to travel as a tourist to Cuba.

Under the new rules, any American — not just those with family on the island — will be able to send up to $500 to Cuba every three months. The measures will also allow more U.S. airports to set up charter flight services to the island (the flights are now limited to Miami, New York and Los Angeles).
“The President believes these actions, combined with the continuation of the embargo, are important steps in reaching the widely shared goal of a Cuba that respects the basic rights of all its citizens,” the statement from the White House read. “These steps build upon the President’s April 2009 actions to help reunite divided Cuban families; to facilitate greater telecommunications with the Cuban people; and to increase humanitarian flows to Cuba.”

There is very little wonder that many support Sarah Palin. Many people listen to her when she speaks, and many of them actually believe her. When people want to believe something, no matter what argument you make – they will continue to believe what they want to believe if they are not given the facts. Sometimes, you can provide facts just like what Michelangelo Signorile did to this woman named Rita as he was trying to explain to her that the “majority does not rule” when it comes to freedom of religion and still be ignored because you have already been made to believe that what you know is true.

Venezuelan actor Édgar Ramírez who was nominated for the Golden Globe as Best Actor in a Mini-Series or a motion picture made for a TV Movie for Carlos. He didn’t win but he won my heart (the award went to Al Pacino for You Don’t Know Jack as Jack Kevorkian). He’s one gorgeous Venezuelan! And you know I love men from Venezuela. I was in love with one once in my life.
Well, one of my favorite blogs have uncovered very awesome photos of the actor who did some full frontal scenes in the mini-series. And mind you boys and girls, he is totally hot. At the age of 34, he looks totally fit and gorgeous.

Google Doodle Celebrates Painter Paul Cézanne – 172nd Birthday
You may be wondering what the Google Doodle for today, January 19, 2011 is all about. I did too. So, I saved the image and while doing so I noticed the name of the image. It said “cezanne11-hp.jpg”. Knowing that Paul Cézanne was a famous painter, I Googled it and found out that today would have been his 172nd birthday (19 January 1839 – 22 October 1906).
It’s a tribute well deserved. He was one of the the painters credited for 19th century Impressionism and early 19th century Cubism. A statement once used by Matisse and Picasso referring to the famous painter as “the father of us all” rings true.
Former ‘American Idol’ Contestant Alex Lambert Tweets He is Homeless (NOT)
If it’s true, I would tell cute hunky Alex Lambert, a former American Idol contestant from Season 9 that he can come live with me. But the tweets that came from @TrueAlexLambert account on Twitter seemed unreal when it posted a tweet that said:
Ever since IICD ended I’ve been kinda homless! Sleepin on the street and behind buildings. I have a choice to stay and persue my career or go.
Then he continued on to say:
“I’ve been goin to coffee shops and other stores so I can tweet to my snaf! Because to be honest! You guys are all I really have!”
Well, a spokesperson for production company 19 did talk to Entertainment Weekly and said that although the tweets did come from Alex Lambert, “things are not nearly as grim as they might seem”.
Not only is Charice returning to Glee, she says that she will do 5-7 more episodes.
Charice made her debut on Glee on the Season 2 premiere of the popular TV show as Filipna student Sunshine Corazon. Many of her fans anticipated her return after that stunning performance but have not yet seen it come to fruition. Rumors rolled out that she will return as a regular but that didn’t occur as well.
Then, an announcement was made that the Youtube sensation will return on Glee’s Oh No They Didn’t episode airing on February 6th. And that is definitely true and according to reports, she will be singing “Meet Me Halfway” by the Black Eyed Peas.

I wanted to watch this last night and I was so bummed that I missed it. I’m an Oprah wanna-be as you may know if you read the CHUVA WHO? link above and I’ve always admired her. Oprah Winfrey rarely gives interviews and since she is retiring from her popular talk show of 25 years, she is now giving interviews to promoter her new network, OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network).
So, I was glad that CNN published these videos for us to watch.
Massive Cop and Firefighter Layoffs in Camden, NJ – - Unfortunate.
This is bad news. My neighbor is a Camden, NJ cop and I hope he’s now one of the cops being laid off. He actually told me just last week when I saw him at the gym that he just got engaged. Man, I really really hope he’s not one of the guys to be laid off.
Here’s the news I read today via CNN Money:
New York – There will be fewer cops patrolling the streets of Camden, N.J., come Tuesday.
Struggling to close a $26.5 million budget gap, the city with the second highest crime rate in the nation is laying off 163 police officers. That’s nearly 44% of the force.
And Camden will also lose 60 of its 215 firefighters. Some people with desk jobs will be demoted and reassigned to the streets.
First it was Larry King, then Oprah – and now Regis Philbin says he’s retiring from his weekday talk show
Yes people, the uber-energetic daily show host of “Live! With Regis & Kelly“, Regis Philbin announced his retirement this morning. There are certain people who have become fixtures on television as if they are and always be a part of the American experience. It’s like saying, you can’t be an American if you haven’t seen an episode of Oprah or Larry King Live or Live! With Regis & Kelly.
But, regardless if you’re a fixture or not – a TV personality just like everyone else – will make their exit. People do retire you know.
