Breaking News: White House will no longer defend federal marriage act in court
I believe that we are slowly inching towards Marriage Equality in this nation. The most recent announcement was that the Obama Administration will no longer defend Federal Marriage Act in court.
Many lower courts have found the law to be unconstitutional and that it “discrimates against same-sex couples who are legally married but not recognized by the federal government.”
Attorney General Eric Holder sent in the recommendation and the president has agreed.

Marko Stout: New York City Artist Exhibit “The Cave”

If you don’t know me very well, you wouldn’t even think that I love art. I enjoy painting and sculptures and do have quite a collection at home. My collection ranges from pieces purchased overseas and paintings that I’ve bought at auctions online. One piece that I own is a Salvador Dali Limited Edition Lithograph of “Don Quixote” which sells now for $7,000.
Therefore, I like going to museums and galleries. I was privileged to have met artists in Venice and Milan when I was traveling there last year. I almost bought a painting but due to the US economical downturn last year, I decided not to.
Now, there is a New York City artist whose artwork I have found to be fascinating. His name is Marko Stout. An artist with a degree in Biology and if you can believe this, he also has doctorates in medicine and metaphysics! Whoah! He explains his artwork as something that is “active and living”. Mostly abstracts, I could actually liken his art to artist Peter Max. I love Peter Max. I know someone who owns one of his original piece and have admired it many times when I visit her home.
Marko Stout will have an exhibit called “The Cave”. He explains why he chose the name for his exhibit on his website. His exhibit promises a “unique and mystical experience” and I would like to take part in it. The Cave is an exhibit of deep thought and mysticism and if that’s your game, you may just want to check it out as well.
I may decide to go after my trip to Washington, D.C. where I will take part in the National Cherry Blossom Festival in April. I am only a couple of hours away from New York City…

Wearing scrubs would be a good alternative for someone like me.
Friends of mine are mostly nurses. Male nurses that is. Some of them have already completed other degrees in Fine Arts and Computer Science but found it more lucrative to go into the medical field for a better future or simply a change in career path. One of the complaints I do hear from them is having to wear nothing but medical scrubs. Remember, they were used to wearing suits & ties from their previous careers and having to wear scrubs
daily now takes a toll on them because the scrubs are mostly basic and loose-fitting. One of my buddies is a gym buff and enjoyed wearing tight-fitting clothes.
But most recently, scrubs for men have undergone some wonderful evolution. Even the scrub pants now come in low-rise designs and the tops are now cut in a slimming cut which would delight my buddy who enjoys showing his physique. He can be as stylish now and enjoy wearing scrubs because it has evolved so much than the more traditional scrubs medical professionals use to wear.
I still work in an office (corporate office for that matter) and we are not allowed to wear anything but dress pants and dress shirts during the week except on Fridays when we get to wear business casual clothing including jeans. If you ask me, I wouldn’t mind wearing surgical scrubs everyday just because clothes are so expensive nowadays. To buy a good quality dress shirt could cost you up to fifty dollars a piece, and you would have to have at least a good mix that you could rotate every other week.
Since the scrubs that are in the market today are more “fashionable” so-to-speak, I wouldn’t mind it. I think my friends are just whiners. LOL! They have a lot of good options nowadays when it comes to wearing scrubs. I personally think that it is better to be in scrubs and comfortable than to wear the monkey suits I wear everyday. But I guess, to each his own.
Hmmm. Donald Trump might run for President in 2012 – only trails Obama by three points in new poll.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Donald Trump runs for President in 2012. Until now, there is still no one in the Republican party who can be the front runner for the party in the upcoming presidential elections.
Until “The Donald” spoke at a conservative conference two weeks ago, there were no talks of him running for president. But he said, “maybe I’ll run for president”, playing with the enthusiastic crowd. That created the buzz about him running for office in 2012.
Now that he’s thrown the word out onto the table – - polls have been set up to see how good he would fare out against the current president, Pres. Barack Obama.
Lo and behold! He only trails President Obama by three points according to new poll. Although his candidacy is already being compared to the Ross Perot campaign back in 1992 as something that would probably lose and give a better chance for Pres. Obama to win just like what Ross Perot did for Former Pres. Bill Clinton.

She started as an assistant in fashion shows and now, transgender Supermodel Lea T is the hottest ticket in fashion. Born a man, he has now started his transformation. He is preparing himself for the operation and admits that he is scared both physically and emotionally.

Baby-baby-baby-ohhhhhhhhhhhhh!! Justin Bieber sported a new look after he tweeted “Thinking about getting a haircut….hmmmmm” on a photo posted by Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flats (photo above).
Will his fans like it? He said to TMZ that he wanted a “more mature look” which is normal for a 16-year old kid.

Today, February 22nd is National Margarita Day! I am going to have one later on.
After last weekend’s events – I vowed i will not take another drink for a while. It was a crazy weekend and if you were there with me and my friends at Voyeur Club last Saturday, you would have wondered what I drank that night. It was one of those forgettable moments in your life.
Anyway, I found out that today is National Margarita Day. I used to be a Tequila drinker but I wouldn’t touch that at all these days. I have had enough blackouts in my life that I don’t need another one. But mixed with something else is kinda different.
I have asked a couple of my colleagues to stop by at Mexican Post later on to celebrate National Margarita Day.

Well, now it’s Maria Aragon’s turn. She was interviewed on the Ellen Degeneres Show today. If you remember, the 10-year old Maria Aragon got the surprise of her life while being interviewed at a Canadian radio station when Lady Gaga called in. At the end of the interview and her conversation with Lady Gaga, she was invited to do a duet with the Gaga herself when she performs at her concert in Toronto.

In a “Where are they now?” episode of The View, guest Jessica Hahn (famed church secretary reportedly raped by televangelist, Jim Bakker, in 1987 in the sex scandal which resulted after he stepped down as the head of PTL (Praise the Lord) Club.) lashed back at Barbara Walters when during an interview, Barbara asked Jessica why she would have an affair with a married man. Jessica Hahn lashed back at Barbara asking her why she had an affair with a married senator (a fact that she admitted in her autobiography, Audition). Barbara then replied “this is not about me, it’s about you”
How ironic to have a guest respond like that. Whoa!! Could you imagine if Jessica Hahn would have replied, “you had a long term relationship with a married man and I had a one time only with a married man, there is a big difference”. – That would have been a moment made for TV!

I have been following this story ever since it broke out. I watch podcasts on my iPhone and one of the podcast I download is NBC’s Today show with Matt Lauer and Meredith Vieira. They have comprehensively covered the developments of this murder trial in Perugia, Italy.
Amanda Knox was convicted of murder back in 2009 for the death of her roommate Meredith Kercher. She was a 20-year old American student studying in Italy. She was sentenced to 26 years in jail. Now, they two independent DNA experts have been given 90 days to review the DNA results that was used to convict her.
Apparently, the murder scene in the movie was so gruesome that it has been taken off the actual film.

Secret Millionaire on ABC. Do you remember a show with the same theme?
I am not sure if you are at an age to remember the show in the Philippines way-back-when entitled, “Ginang Milyonarya“. The show starred Chichay as a wealthy Good Samaritan who provided relief to deserving individuals or families once they have proven that they are pure of heart.
Well, there is a new show on ABC called Secret Millionaire which is kind of like the same thing. Millionaires would disguise themselves and pretend that they are just one of the guys in a neighborhood or a community. They are tasked to find a good cause that they felt deserve a piece of their fortune.
Promoting your brand. That’s one thing I’m trying to perfect.

I have now started to think about how I could expand my brand. I have seen bloggers who have had products made that bore the name of their blogs. It’s really not that hard to have keychains or t-shirts made with your brand. Scott Herman is a fitness instructor and he sells tank tops and t-shirts on his website. He’s getting some good sales on it as well. But one thing that he had to do first was to make his brand strong which means that he had to get the word out there. Scott Herman Fitness is now a thriving business.
Traveling to Malta

A lot of my family members actually live overseas and in Europe. This is actually because my father is originally from Europe and from a small island in the middle of the Mediterranean known as Malta. Many people think I am referring to a dog when I tell them that I am half Maltese. The Maltese culture is vast considering the island itself is only a few miles long. The Maltese people are known for their rich accents and beautiful olive skin. Unfortunately, I was not blessed with this beautiful olive skin and instead am very pale because my mother is actually Irish. But because most of my father’s family lives in Malta, I actually decided to go and visit them for the very first time about a year ago. I got the idea to travel when I saw a program about Malta on my 101 Network on Direct TV.
The trip was fantastic and I just can not wait to go back. The waters surrounding the island were completely blue. It was very surreal and something that many people only wish to be able to see. You could actually see the fish in the water because the water was so crystal clear and clean. I stayed with my grandma and promised her that I would be back again for another visit when I had some extra time off of school and work.

Well, don’t you like the simple invitation above? It’s so simple though. I have had more elaborate and beautiful invitations from commoners than this.
But hey, it doesn’t matter. As long as the wedding is fabulous (I’m still waiting for the wedding gown to be showcased), I wouldn’t mind .

Oops he did it again! Asian boy known as the “Drag Baby” takes on Christina Aguilera on Burlesque.
I know that it is one thing to be the mother of Charice who took her child from one singing contest to the next in order to put food on the table. Or, the likes of Justin Bieber – another Youtube sensation who has made it big. Greyson Chance, is another whose talent you can actually be able to showcase on Ellen Degeneres Show and not be afraid your kids are watching.
I have been watching videos of this kid for a while and the first one I think was he did Single Ladies. I don’t know whether his parents approve of him dressing up like a girl or that they tolerate and want their (I am assuming son) child to express himself freely. The kid has talent but do you think Oprah’s producers will be on the phone immediately after this video and say, “Would you like to guest on Oprah?”. Hmmmm. Maybe. I mean, it’s well and good that his parents have accepted him as he is. I am just afraid of the backlash that the kid will get from people who don’t fully understand how his parents could allow him to do this.

Hunky “I Am Number Four” star Alex Pettyfer and Glee’s Diana Agron calls it quits.
I just recently noticed this hunk when I saw the trailer for I Am Number Four. Alex Pettyfer was supposedly dating Diana Agron from Glee. They started dating back in August.
However, according to TMZ, that relationship has gone kaput. Reports say that Diana has packed up and moved out of the place the couple both shared.
TMZ reports that they broke up when photos of the hunky star (shown above) , half-naked with models were released which was a photo shoot that happened over a year ago. And besides, Alex Pettyfer doesn’t like being referred to being a “former model” since he said that he never considered modeling as a job. He only modeled for Burberry and he actually would like to continue modeling since he believes that modeling is much easier than acting.

Perry Moore Dies at 39 – Author of Book About Gay Superhero – NYTimes.com

These types of news are bothersome. Many young, talented people are falling prey to drugs. Perry Moore is an executive producer of the movie series, “The Chronicles of Narnia”. He died on Thursday at his apartment from apparent ‘drug overdose.’
I hope Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan hears the news and wakes them up to the dangers of their lifestyles. Actually, both of them are luckier because they are both in the news so much that people actually know that they need help. Sometimes they can be helped and other times they can’t be (i.e. Michael Jackson and Anna Nicole Smith) The likes of Perry Moore (who is openly gay and have written a book about a gay superhero) shows there are many silent victims of drug addiction that it is almost always to late when we find out that they had a problem.
It’s sad. Our deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones.

I love love love love Kathy Griffin. I think she’s one of the most hilarious comedienne of our time. I love it when she mixes her stand-up routine with current events and celebrities like Oprah and Gayle, or Celine Dion. Even more hilarious is how she uses the Palins for her material.
It’s ironic now that she’s going to be cast as a Regional Judge on Glee and her role as Tammy Jean, a former Tea Party candidate mom. I could just imagine how funny that could be and how she would spin the role to resemble Former Vice-Presidential candidate and Former Governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin. I can’t wait.

The Huffington Post reports that Mount Bulusan in the Philippines had errupted at 9:15 this morning.
The first photo released was that from the Philippine Daily Inquirer (photo above). The eruption, according to the article, was first announced by journalist Harold Geronimo 14 hours ago, as of this writing. He tweeted, “Breaking News: Mt. Bulusan erupts“.
It was then confirmed by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology saying the cause was due to steam buildup. Warnings have been issued for aircrafts to stay away from the zone and have warned people as well to be mindful of possible respiratory illnesses if they are exposed to the gases and ashes.
Raymund Isaac, photographer for Marie France / Sharon Cuneta Billboard speaks out.
I am so glad that photographer, Raymund Isaac has come out in defense of the Marie France billboard photo of Megastar Sharon Cuneta. I don’t understand why this is an issue that has become so overblown that it had become a topic for national debate.
Mr. Raymund Isaac wrote an article for Inquirer.net regarding this issue and publicly defended the photograph and that indeed, Ms. Sharon Cuneta’s photograph was not a result of photo alteration via Photoshop. He said he wrote the article on his own accord, “as I have been accused in some cases of using Photoshop to make my image beautiful, even if, in fact, only simple photography techniques have been applied.” He continued on to say, “If I had wanted to seriously Photoshop the image, trust me—I would have done more. But in this day and age of digital photography, we seldom see an image that is 1) real, 2) has proper lighting, and 3) has no need for major Photoshop.”
There are issues more important than this. There are issues of corruption in government, poverty and welfare of all Filipino citizens that are more worthy of public debate and focus. Now that Mr. Isaac has said his peace, I hope that issue can now rest.

Filipina Youtube Sensation Maria Aragon gets invited by Lady Gaga to do a duet in Toronto.
Didn’t I tell you that Filipinos are going to rock 2011!! The next Youtube sensation, Maria Aragon from Winnipeg was interviewed at a radio station and was surprised when Lady Gaga was patched in. Lady Gaga praised the little girl for her talent and how she had made Lady Gaga’s day upon listening and watching her Youtube video that Perez sent her saying in a tweet, “Can’t stop crying watching this. This is why I make music. She is the future.”
Maria Aragon cried tears of joy and could hardly speak while talking to Lady Gaga and was invited by Lady Gaga to sing with her in Toronto.

Andy Warhol’s Colossal Self-Portrait Sells for 17.4 Million Dollars.
The colossal photo of artist Andy Warhol (pictured above) sold for $1.4 M at Christie’s in London! The portrait made from acrylic and silkscreen in on canvas measured 6 foot square! Huge photo taken in 1967 was recently discovered. Imagine that!
Well, I hope my self portrait would sell while I’m still alive. I don’t want to be dead and have my photo sell for millions of dollars.

Oh to be Mark Zuckerberg! Dining with the Prez!
The first time I laid my eyes on Mark Zuckerberg, I already had the hots for him. I dunno why. I have had crushes on powerful people but Mark’s geekiness and power draws me to him.
He’s got that sexiness about him that I cannot seem to pinpoint. Just his aura of simplicity (he wears mostly hoodies and t-shirts) and not boasting about how much power he has drives me bananas!
He had dinner with President Barack Obama including the Tech Moguls like Apple’s Steve Jobs and Google’s Eric Schmidt in San Francisco among others.
According to White House representatives, “The president and the business leaders will discuss our shared goal of promoting American innovation, and discuss his commitment to new investments in research and development, education and clean energy.”
Don’t you find him sexy? I would be a slave for Mark Zuckerberg. I don’t care if I have to clean his bathroom with a toothbrush. He has that affect on me. I keep wondering what it really is that draws me to him. No, it’s not his billions. He’s going to give all that away to charity anyway – I doubt he’ll leave anything to my name.

Remember Zach Wahls? The Youtube Viral Sensation whose speech at the Iowa HOR electrified many? He talked to Ellen.
It’s the shortest speech ever I have ever seen on Youtube that left me with pride as if I was his father. Zach Wahls is a 19-old Iowan raised by two moms and he spoke in favor of Marriage Equality in front of the Iowa House of Representatives. Do you remember this post?
Well, he’s become so popular and he was invited to the Ellen Degeneres show. He talked about his speech and how he was compelled to speak about Marriage Equality. He admits that even with all the attention that he has received, he is still disappointed that Iowa House of Representatives still voted to halt gay marriage in Iowa.
Oh – if he was gay, I’d wait for him and marry him. I love him already!!

The power of Social Media: Born This Way becomes fastest selling single on iTunes after release.
It could be Lady Gaga’s Twitter Account or her Facebook Page. Lady Gaga didn’t waste any medium during the promotion of her single. She was on Twitter days before the release and tweeted the lyrics of the song. After that, she surprised everyone by releasing the song on Friday using #BornThisWayFriday as a hashtag days ahead of her Grammy performance.
The result? 448,000 downloads of the single in three hours and it has become the fastest ever selling single from any artist on iTunes. It broke Britney Spears’ record of 441,000 downloads. The single became #1 in 23 countries worldwide. And in addition to that, Born This Way became the 1000th Number 1 song on the Billboard Charts! How lucky can you get?
Don’t underestimate the power of social media. Bloggers helped Lady Gaga launch her single as well since many of the bloggers joined her in the release of the single.
It is predicted that Lady Gaga will be on top of Forbes list next year. I don’t doubt it.
To alter or not to alter? That is the question. Sharon Cuneta – Hayden Kho Controversy.
I have just been watching this issue from the sidelines as you all know, I am a solid Sharon Cuneta fan. I love her integrity and I will continue to believe that what she is saying is true.
This all started when the billboard of Sharon Cuneta endorsing Marie France went up on EDSA. No one was saying anything. She looked great on the after-picture (and rightfully so! It is an ad isn’t it? Have you seen photos of burgers on ads and have you eaten an actual one? Exactly!) Sharon knows all too well how to battle with weight. She’s been through it. And for her to agree with an altered image, would be a betrayal of herself. Of course, professional alteration of an ad photo is always going to be required – not necessarily making her look skinnier but to adjust lighting and shadows of the photo.
Now, when Hayden Kho‘s tweet came out saying ““There’s a billboard ad [on] Edsa developed by advertisers who think consumers are stupid.” – which ad was he exactly referring to? Has he disclosed which one?
