Remake of Footloose Trailer Released – (VIDEO)
Dunno if you were alive back then when Footloose came out. Yup, Kevin Bacon was the hottest thing back then. The music, the dance sequence, the truck scene… all those.
Someone decided to remake the movie without A-list stars like Chace Crawford or Zac Efron (or at least, none of them want to do it). But they do have cute guys replacing the original cast. I probably will watch it just so I can compare. And I love the music… so we’ll see how it fares out to the original.

When you rock a dress made out of fresh meat, and had the patience to wear that wet and slimy dress all night while waiting for you to be called a winner at the 2010 Video Music Awards, you must have a real stomach for it. Lady Gaga did.
In the name of art and whatever else, people were awed by the fact that she actually wore a meat dress. No one ever thought of that before and if you want to make a statement, that’s one way to do it.
Apparently, the Cleveland Rock and Roll Hall of Fame agrees with it and had specialists preserve the dress for display. Imagine? Ewwwwww!! One thing to wear it all night (or half the night), another to preserve it like beef jerky. It would probably cost millions in the future…

Remember the crazy image above guys? Yup! That’s Chris Crocker on his “Leave Britney Alone” tirade that went viral instantly. Yeah, I know. You’re asking – who the **ck is Chris Crocker?
He’s gone and forgotten now. It’s one of those “famous-one-minute-has-been-the-next” kind of thing. And fame can get to people’s head. If you become really famous and then lose all the attention, you will probably do everything to get that attention back. They say it’s really addictive.

Harry Potter fans could not be more tickled when a website by J.K. Rowling was discovered last week which said, “Coming Soon”. No one knew what it’s about and if it’s going to be a continuation of the author’s famous Harry Potter series online.
J.K. Rowling recently revealed that you can enter your email address for a chance to enter the website early. Of course, who wouldn’t want to know what this website is all about right? That is why right now, trying to enter your email address is locking up the website.. The website will allow chosen users to enter the site early and it will eventually go live for everyone in October.

Pulitzer Prize-Winning Gay Filipino Reporter, Comes Out as Undocumented Immigrant”
The piece written by award-winning journalist, Jose Antonio Vargas for the New York Times was excellently and fluidly written that one has to feel what an undocumented immigrant feels like while living in the shadows here in the U.S.
So, to my fellow Filipinos who may read this piece, life in America is not all what it seems to be. We dream of coming here and reaching for the American dream. Without the proper documents, in these days of high-security and terrorism, it will be a hard life for you especially if you are undocumented.
Take a hard look before jumping into the unknown. America is a great country and it has everything to offer you – but you would want to be here legally. Otherwise, you will go through life as if you’re living a lie that you cannot disclose. It is probably worse than hiding in the closet if you’re gay.
Here’s an excerpt from the piece he wrote for NY Times:
My mother wanted to give me a better life, so she sent me thousands of miles away to live with her parents in America — my grandfather (Lolo in Tagalog) and grandmother (Lola). After I arrived in Mountain View, Calif., in the San Francisco Bay Area, I entered sixth grade and quickly grew to love my new home, family and culture. I discovered a passion for language, though it was hard to learn the difference between formal English and American slang. One of my early memories is of a freckled kid in middle school asking me, “What’s up?” I replied, “The sky,” and he and a couple of other kids laughed. I won the eighth-grade spelling bee by memorizing words I couldn’t properly pronounce. (The winning word was “indefatigable.”)
One day when I was 16, I rode my bike to the nearby D.M.V. office to get my driver’s permit. Some of my friends already had their licenses, so I figured it was time. But when I handed the clerk my green card as proof of U.S. residency, she flipped it around, examining it. “This is fake,” she whispered. “Don’t come back here again.”

Hello readers! This has been long overdue. It has been a little over 2 years since I did my last podcast. I remember that it was Father’s Day of 2009 when I recorded that podcast and somehow, things got busy and I wasn’t able to get back to it.
Now, even with the mixed up schedules that I have with school, work and other activities, I found a way to get back to something that I loved doing. Podcasting.
I welcome you back and I hope you will welcome my podcasts again. It’s my way of interacting with my readers (and future listeners) and I hope you will give me a chance to share my thoughts with you. If you would like to be a part of my podcast, you can share your concerns, your loves, your successes or anything that you would like to share with the world.

I mean, I’ve never seen the Miss USA pageant to be the measure of intellectual prowess and therefore, I don’t watch the pageant for that. Although sometimes, a gem comes along and surprises you with a response to the questions being posed during the question and answer portion.
So, I am always entertained with the Miss USA Question and Answer Video posted on Youtube.
The question: Should evolution be taught in schools?
Some of them are really intelligent and have gotten the right answer to the question but others made me wonder not if evolution should be taught in school, but if the contestant actually went to school. HA!

Green Lantern takes top spot over the weekend at the box office – June 17-19
Although it fell below studio expectations, Green Lantern starring Ryan Reynolds still took the top box office spot over the weekend.
Green Lantern took in $53.2 million over the weekend opening at 7,200 screens across 3,816 locations falling short of the expected $55 million in gross ticket sales. It also topped the UK box office taking in £2.4m in gross ticket sales.
Jackass Star Ryan Dunn and Unnamed Passenger Killed in Car Crash
There’s a lot of mixed reactions regarding the tragic death of Ryan Dunn from Jackass. When it was reported earlier, no one knew that he was drinking and driving. It was only reported that he was killed in a car crash with a passenger when his Porsche supposedly veered off the road and caught on fire. Twitter was suddenly filled with RIP Ryan Dunn. (That’s for Rest in Peace in case you didn’t know)
Wow! Marilyn Monroe’s Iconic Dress Sells for $5.6 Million! Go go go Debbie Reynolds!
There’s money in memorabilia. If you know how to invest your money correctly, you will do what Debbie Reynolds did. She collected movie memorabilia as investments I would guess, and she is laughing all the way to the bank now that her time to collect has come.
Debbie Reynolds auctioned off her collection which includes a dress worn by Marilyn Monroe from the Seven Year Itch which fetched a whopping $4.6 million! Adding the auction fees of $1 million to that, totals it up to $5.6 million.
Other memorabilia from the collection sold for a good amount such as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes dress worn by Marilyn Monroe as well, selling for $1.2 million and My Fair Lady dress worn by Audrey Hepburn for $3.7 million.
Debbie’s original plan was to showcase her collection in a museum but financial shortcomings had given her no choice but to sell her collection.
Got any memorabilia sitting in your attic? With the current state of our economy, I am surprised these items sold well. Some collector’s must really have money to spend.

Korea’s Got Talent Homeless Teen Sung-Bong Choi – Gabriel’s Oboe
If you have never watched “The Mission” starring Jeremy Irons and Robert De Niro, you may not understand. Ennio Morricone‘s “Gabriel’s Oboe” is one of the tracks from the film that has touched my heart to its deepest depth. The story was about Jesuit missionaries in the jungles of Brazil. One of the scenes where Gabriel’s Oboe was introduced is when Jeremy Irons as a Jesuit priest trying to connect to the natives. The only way he knew was to play the oboe to get their attention in a manner that is friendly and harmless.
The soundtrack from the film is one that I will keep forever. Ennio Morricone is a brilliant composer – one other piece from the soundtrack that brings this song to even brighter light is “On Earth As It Is In Heaven.”

In a press conference on Thursday, Rep Anthony Weiner announced his resignation. This happens just a week after he confessed that he sent lewd photos to six women and had online and sexting relationships with them.
Nancy Pelosi has asked for an ethics violation against him when more photos surfaced with him half-naked in the congressional gym. President Barack Obama said in an interview with Today Show‘s Anne Curry said, “If I was him, I would resign.”
Today, that request was granted. Anthony Weiner did say that his priority from this day forward is to save his marriage to Huma Abedin.
“I make this apology to my neighbors and my constituents, but I make it particularly to my wife Huma. Today I am announcing my resignation from congress so my colleagues can get back to work, my neighbors can choose a new representative, and most importantly, that my wife and I can continue to heal from the damage I have caused.”"

Yes, that’s right. Reality TV star Kim Kardashian appeared on Jay Leno last night wearing her $2 million dollar engagement ring. She told Jay Leno that she dated Kris Humphries for eight months before he proposed but she knew by month one that “He’s the one.”
I think they both look great together and yes, there’s going to be a prenup. Kim Kardashian said before that one thing she learned from her father, Joe Kardashian (famous for being O.J. Simpson’s defense lawyer) was that everything is a contract. And since marriage is a contract, she’s having him sign a prenup.

Mildred Baena, the housekeeper who worked for the Schwarzeneggers and Kennedys for 20 years was also in the photo shoot. If you look at Joseph’s face, you can tell the resemblance to Arnold.
Mildred tells OK Magazine that Maria Shriver handled the situation very well and even cried with her after she had admitted that the child is Arnold’s son.
Maria did ask me directly if Joseph was Arnold’s son and I just broke down,’ Guatemala-born Mildred says. ‘I dropped to my knees and I was crying, saying that, yes, he was and I was so sorry.’
In her first interview, with Hello! magazine, Mildred reveals: ‘She was so strong. She cried with me and told me to get off my knees.

I don’t know what I would do in this situation.
Cameron Diaz worked out on a treadmill next to Prince Harry at a private gym in London. “Apparently, the 26-year-old red-headed royal put his towel on Diaz’s machine; just when the 38-year-old actress was about to ask for the towel to be removed, she realized who was working out beside her!” Just like when Prince Charming and Cinderella, but a sweaty towel instead of a glass slipper, and an elliptical rider instead of a pumpkin.
At the veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery least, I will ask Prince Harry if I can keep his towel! Yes, I can be gross like that! Haha! Just kidding.

TMZ.com published new photos of the embattled Congressman Anthony Weiner. If the previous photos didn’t take him down, this surely will.
When he lied about not sending the photos to the woman in Seattle when the news broke out, and then people found out later that he actually sent it himself during a press conference – people were outraged. Outraged that he lied.
No real damning evidence on 24,000 Sarah Palin emails as governor.
With the release of Sarah Palin’s email records (24,000 of them), media outlets and bloggers have bee scouring through them only to find no evidence of abuse of power or things that would be considered scandalous. That is why we haven’t heard much about it from any news source.
At least that is one good thing we’ve heard about Sarah Palin. I still believe that she is more cut out to be a Reality TV celebrity than a politician. If this works to her favor, she could be a bigger star than Kate Gosselin of Kate Plus 8.
Why do I say that? Just because I have no confidence that she can beat President Barrack Obama in the upcoming presidential elections. Do you?

Super 8 Took the Number One Box Office Spot Over the Weekend of June 10-12
My hunch for the weekend box office hit was right again this time. (Trailer on the right side bar is Chuva’s weekly prediction on which movie will take number one spot at the box-office).
Steven Spielberg’s thriller, “Super 8″ took number one with $37 million putting last week’s number one, X-Men down to number two with $25 million. Hangover Part II took the number three spot with $18.5 million.
Super 8 got my attention last week and I planned on watching it over the weekend but Philly Pride got in the way of my plans.
I ended up celebrating Pride in Philadelphia, PA with my friends – - I will be posting photos soon!

This is one of the greatest news I heard yesterday. A Sarah Geronimo-Charice Collaboration with David “Hitman” Foster? That would be amazing!!! Imagine that combination in international stage! Whoah!!
Filipinos all over the planet rejoiced when Charice was given the chance to take the world by storm with the help of powerhouses like Oprah Winfrey, Ellen Degeneres and David Foster.
And now, it looks like David Foster is taking this to another level.
As reported by ABS-CBN’s North America Bureau, Foster declared: “I love Sarah. Sarah’s amazing and I think the two of them would be great together. I was in the Philippines and I wanted Sarah to come sing with me but she wasn’t available and I’d love to meet her someday.”
OMG!!! I cannot wait for this twosome to do a Mariah Carey-Whitney Houston like collaboration… it will be fantastic!!

One of the podcasts that I faithfully watch every day is NBC’s Today Show. It’s one of the most entertaining shows that I surely enjoy and with the team of Matt Lauer, Meredith Vieira, Ann Curry, Al Roker, and Natalie Morales, you cannot find another morning show that will give you the same pleasure every single day.
Meredith Vieira and Matt Lauer are my favorites and they have really been a part of my morning ride to work. Meredith Vieira has been with the show for 10 years and decided to leave the show to care for her ailing husband. Having a morning show that starts at 7:00 a.m. ET could be really grueling in terms of early morning hours and being up and perky for the cameras early in the morning.
