I’ve resisted as long as I can to not blog about “Amalayer“. The viral video that trended worldwide last week on social media sites where a young woman named Paula Jamie Salvosa appeared to be berating a lady guard at an LRT station in Manila, Philippines was caught on camera.
The video went viral because as much as we all hate to admit it, we hate pretentious people. Regardless of the cause of the argument, Paula appeared to be just that, “pretentious”. The side of the video shown online was a one-way display. Reality TV at its best.
One thing that we all know but pretend not to know is that reality TV became successful because of how the footage can be twisted to portray something so far removed from what actually happened. It’s a way to sensationalize a scene to make it more interesting to the viewers.
That is exactly what happened in this case…. “Allegedly!”, as Kathy Griffin would say it.
Within days, the video was spoofed, turned into a a music myx, and even parodied by Vice Ganda.
Apparently, Paula Jamie Salvosa is an aspiring MYX VJ and auditioned for it as well. Could this video have been staged to get the popularity she needs to become a VJ? No? Nothing short of that could ever happen could it?
Here’s the video (Original – plus Paula’s audition to become a MYX VJ).
Do you love her or hate her?
